I wonder whether this will hit other clubs too. The BBC report that 'several premises' were raided today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-39716009
I think it means several premises relating to those two clubs. Training ground, offices, stadiums etc... No surprise with those two clubs and their respective owners really. Could affect both clubs dearly this season if they take points away... Newcastle not loads of points clear of 3rd place and West Ham have form with the 'Tevez' saga. Just ask Duxbury...
West Ham have ten points deducted this season - surely dreams are made of this! Presumably this has to do with the way player contracts have been agreed to evade Tax and NI payments - could have repercussions elsewhere.
Like all taxpayers, I'm a benefactor of West Ham, but nevertheless I'd unselfishly love them to go down. But didn't they escape relegation a few years ago, when the authorities delayed punishing them for irregularities connected with the Carlos Teves signing which resulted in Sheffield United going down instead? This could happen again, in recognition of the club's invaluable contribution to England's World Cup win in 1966.
Doubt it. Gino is probably savvy enough to have made any tax avoidance scheme at our club run through 'Performance Bonuses'.... and plus explain Saturdays efforts.
Agree Watford are good at getting around rules by understanding the difference between avoidance (finding all the loopholes in the rules) and evasion (illegality - breaking the rules).
Any investigation will take a long time. Possibly years. I wouldn't be unhappy to see them have a deduction next season. It might be more use to us then, you never know
Any idea of the peripheral involvement of Chelsea HMRC officers also visited offices belonging to Chelsea FC "in connection with its wider investigation", a club spokesman confirmed. But it is understood the club's premises were not raided and no arrests were made. "HMRC has requested certain information which the club will provide," the spokesman said.
Following on from my working with HMRC on tax evasion, I'd like to say more about this. But I had better not. As I don't know anything.
I hate you smarmy nITK people coming on here hinting at all the things you don't know like you're something special.
