  1. Because people are 'insulting each other'.
Good job the politics moderator isn't moderating 'The Hornet's Nest" - he/she would have to shut it down every week as the happy clappers Vs bedwetters descends into vitriol every other day.

    Ridiculously heavy handed. (Again).

Everything wrong with the politics section in one post. Nicely done.

But true. The forum is packed through with people being rude to each other. Somehow if its Politics this is apparently more awful.

It's, to say the least, inconsistent what gets challenged and what doesn't.

I'm disappointed, where will I be able to read the thinly veiled racist views from now on?

Oh yeah, I'll read the Troy Deeney threads.
  5. Should have had a referendum on closing it and when people didn't get the results they wanted they could complain about getting a new one.

When, out of idle curiosity, on May day I checked when 'A. Poster' posted anything other than in the Politics section it was in mid February and on the last page of their list 200 postings...
  7. Maybe if the moderator had strong views on Deeney he'd get more involved.

I vote for the suspension to be lifted.

Imagine the people who post there leaving their computers and going out into the real world.

At least on that forum they can be closely monitored.

:) I wouldn’t leave. I’d be worried I’d meet the grown men who obsess about football 24/7 even when it’s not on.

Ooooh do we need a striker? Gosh that medical team! Why haven’t our owners got seventy twelve billion pounds?

But it's not. The only single time I've had a minor spat in the last year outside the politics section was to do with the proposed new stadium, and that was handbags compared to daily abuse in the politics area. It would be a real shame to lose it, but I don't see the point of a section where people daren't give a view and therefore don't visit.

Every single thread gets abusive. It's fun to watch as a non participating spectator, but to moderate must be a complete nightmare.

There isn’t a “politics” moderator. All sections are overseen by the same team of people. Of course, at risk of sounding like Mrs Merton, debates get heated and sometimes over the top elsewhere on the forum. But there isn’t anywhere near the same level of consistent personal abuse.

It has a particular problem and if that problem was dealt with it would get no more tetchy than the rest of the forum, which is quite tetchy.

I am all for the politics section, the issue is the constant barbs from both sides of debates that quickly boil over into more personal attacks. If you can't debate a topic without getting personal you should not be debating it in the first place.

I think all parties need a couple of days without it to calm down before it can reopen.

This thread is a perfect example of what is wrong.
We've already had the finger pointed.

The issue isn't one poster, the issue is a group of multiple posters. They either grow up fast, they all get banned together or the politics section dissppears completely. For a side section of the forum it takes too much admin time to look after and this can't go on.

Members accept moderating decisions by posting on wfcforums. If anyone has a problem with this they can go elsewhere.

There are moderators on this forum?

I took a hiatus as this forum was going downhill. The personal attacks on a certain back player were sickening whether he be referred to as 'not the sharpest knife in the draw' because statistically BAME people were more vulnerable to COVID or because they were more interested in trade marking a BLM logo - it's not even thinly veiled racism at this point - yet nothing was done or said.

The forum has deteriorated further, so as per hornmeister's command, time for a permanent hiatus and look elsewhere.

    Good luck to you all.

I referred to Deeney in a thread as “not the sharpest knife in the draw” and that comment was not made “because BAME people were more vulnerable to COVID.” To quote someone entirely out of context and then follow it up with accusations of racism is, frankly, defamatory and is exactly the kind of behaviour that has led to the suspension of the Politics forum.

That's a very good point above. I haven't been called racist since I stopped posting in politics. Amazing.

That’s not what has lead to its suspension though. Those sort of attacks have been tolerated for months.

Recently Meister asked all posters to refrain from personal insults and arguments against the people posting rather than the argument being made.

Since then, the poster most prone to abusive personal attacks, who has previously had threads and posts deleted because people wouldn't shut up when he told them to, has continued to make his personal attacks and comments.

I don't like being openly discussed by two posters, who will not discuss any matter with me directly, as being a racist nazi, when I have not made any comment that deserved such description. There is a particular irony in this because one of the posters has repeatedly defended racism and antisemitism on the forum.

I did not respond directly because in the past that has led to the Mods making it clear that it was not desirable for us to do so. So instead I complained. To which I understand a warning was given. Since then, another two attacks were made that, in the most cowardly way imaginable, did not address me directly.

If those attacks had not been made, or if I was free to respond in like to the poster, the thread would still be open. It is up to the Mods how they run the site, and I am greatful that they do.

You are the problem you describe Moose.

The problem ends if you either stop insulting people, or stop complaining when they insult you back.

Or if the mods shut the thread down because you can't reel it in, or learn to take the same medicine you dish out.

Some may call it stalking rather than idle curiosity. I have never looked up your history to justify whether or not you are a valid poster on the forum.

My history with the Club, as a child, a fan, a season ticket holder, an employee and as a friend goes back half a century.

This is not an extension of the suspended politics forum. Those who are ruining it for the rest know who they are.

If the whinging and bickering continues, the suspension lengthens and it gets more likely that it'll never be lifted.

Unless you would like to remove Hooter’s post, which is wholly inaccurate, I think it reasonable it is replied to.

Not sure I agree. The pro verses anti Pozzo arguments get as abusive as the the politics forum stuff. I don’t really go in the politics forum much anymore but it feels inconsistent to close it unless there have been unseen posts deleted of course.

You realise that was posted after I raised the issue of you PMing me insults right? Seems somewhat ironic that you are using a directive that was aimed at the likes of yourself as a defence in calling others to respect it.

Seems to me that the politics section would be better served if those who are heavily suggested by @hornmeister as being the main protagonists accepted the fact, rather than withdrawing themselves as a factor whilst pointing fingers.

When the politics section was reinstated I had the sense to set that section on ignore. Not that I posted much on there before the first closure.
