I'd like to see us persist with the Gray Deeney pairing. It needs time.

    Judge it after 10-15 games.

  2. IIRC, the centre of Huddersfield has some very handsome Georgian and Victorian buildings. Not many towns have a Grade I listed railway station. Just saying.

Just because everyone on this forum is now a genuine or honorary Yank, doesn’t mean there is an excuse for misspelling “defence”.

Yes when we played an NPL match there my brother Laurence had educated me about it and I took our team on a quick tour.
    Very lovely.

Think this is a big game. Win it and it could be the start of a 14/15 style run. Lose it and we'll probably just end up knocking about the playoffs with our home form keeping us there.

After tonight the current average league position of our next 6 opponents is 16th. Let's hope we are nearer to 60 points than 50 points, by the time we play AFCB on 27 Feb.

No kidding ? I'd always assumed the watford canal started and ended in Watford in a large loop.

The 'Vic' was one of the old grounds I missed out on. I wanted to go because, at the time, it was the oldest ground still being used. Other stadiums I missed were Roker Park and The Baseball Ground.

There's quite a few places I'd been to before they moved, as well as Stoke's Victoria ground (* if I've been to the new place too):
    • Highbury (Arsenal)
    • Elm Park (Reading*)
    • Twerton Park (Bristol Rovers)
    • Fellows Park (Walsall*)
    • Baseball Ground (Derby*)
    • Ayresome Park (Middlesbrough)
    • Filbert Street (Leicester*)
    • Griffin Park (Brentford, obviously not been to new place)
    • The Dell (Southampton)
    • Goldstone Ground (Brighton)
    • Highfield Road (Coventry)
    • Springfield Park (Wigan)
    • Upton Park (West Ham + I saw us play Charlton there once)
There's quite a few places I've not been to the new place as I pretty much stopped going to away matches since the 2003/4 season.

I like sweetcorn. It's very tasty and one of my very favourite foods.

The fact that a floater might have sweetcorn embedded in the side of it doesn't make it any less of a turd.

'Resting' Hughes would be both a laughable open pisstake from management/Gino, and a good way of making it a lot less likely that we will win. Given this is theoretically the beginning of our revamped away identity, where we don't go and play like a collection of zombies because we had to take a slightly longer bus to get to the ground, it doesn't seem like a particularly clever time to purposefully hamstring ourselves in such a manner.

Absolutely. We've been crying out for Hughes extra bit of quality all season. Players like Hughes should play as often as fit and able. He is basically only go to play half a season so should be absolutely fine with that

That's a nice list, but I feel the need to point out that Twerton Park was a ground share with Bath City, not Bristol Rovers' own old ground, which was Eastville.
I went to all those except Springfield Park and my list also includes:
    Bootham Crescent (York)
    County Ground (Northampton)
    Gay Meadow (Shrewsbury)
    Layer Road (Colchester)
    McCain Stadium (Scarborough)
    Maine Road (Man City)
    Manor Gound (Oxford)
    Plough Lane (Wimbledon)
    The Den (Millwall)
    Underhill (Barnet)
    and
Telford Street (Caledonian FC, before the merger that became Inverness CT)

If we rest Hughes, we might as well throw in the towel now. Made such a difference having him back. He has to start every game. Better him to start and be subbed off at the 60 minute mark, than dropped to the bench.

Funnily enough myself and our youngest boy were watching Fulham and Manure.
Anywho a Fulham player Cavalieiro was put through on goal and his touch sent the ball out for a GK
    " He's Gray'd that one up " I said wittily
Maybe we could get " to Gray something" into the English language , for example
"He's Gray'd that one over the bar " or " He's Gray'd that one wide of the post". etc etc....

    I'll get me coat !.....

Nice, it reminds me, that I did go to the Manor Ground, Gay Meadow and the old Den. I did go to Underhill but not to watch Watford.
I also went to the McCain stadium, I know Scarborough FC went out of business and I just checked Wikipedia, there doesn't seem to be a phoenix club but they build a Lidl on the site in 2017.

I've been to Gigg Lane (Bury) and Moss Road (Macclesfield), I don't know what the future holds for those grounds.

If our boys are serious about promotion then including tonight we win the next 5. Who we play, there are no excuses to not beat them. Rotherham just stuck three past Stoke. Then Millwall, QPR, Coventry and Bristol City, who were **** scared of Norwich on Wednesday night, should be wins. Do that, and we will be right back in it. Whilst we have those games, everyone around us is playing each other. If we drop points then we will never catch up.

Good list. I can tick all of those except Baseball Ground and Ayresome Park. And Coventry I just can't remember what it was called. I remember it snowed and we were joined by a bunch of Orient supporters whose game had been called off.
    Don't forget Tottenham!
I don't think the Bristol ground was their original..?

Now we're getting serious. Yes to Layer Road, Maine Road, Manor Ground (what a dump), Plough Lane and Underhill. No to the others.

    Yep and yep.
I like to go to new clubs but hardly bother for the distant ones any more because Watford haven't been in the lower reaches for a long time. I've ticked all the top two divisions, except, oddly, Blackburn. If Watford get relegated this year I'll be back in business. :):(
