I did a year of Universtity in Stoke and can only concur with its grimness. Hated it so much I dropped out. L*ton is worse though. Easily.
This could be my last game supporting the team as a UK-based Hornet - so stands to reason it will be a drab defeat.
Agree re Telford. Stayed there 2 or 3 nights a week for about 2 year when working for a company with their HQ at Hortonwood. Absolute pits....
Me and the family could be rather unexpectedly upping sticks to NYC next week - both mine and the other half’s workplaces have offices there and it’s a move we have wanted to make for a while now. We were going to wait until the pandemic had drifted away a bit but the opportunity has arisen sooner than expected! Not set in stone though as taking the kids away from grandparents and also being away from them ourselves during all this doesn’t sit well with either of us - so we shall see! Could be my last game with a sensible KO time or I might sneak in a few more yet!
Oh no! NURSE,the pills please! Telford is where, in my playing time, the nationals were held. I decided whoever had designed the tennis centre had a hatred of window cleaners as it was so dark. Endless hours spent wandering the wretched shopping centre between matches. On the one year it was held at Queen's,completely different story and outlook, literally and metaphorically. Odd as The Wrekin,Little Wenlock,Much Wenlock and all around are wonderful but Telford....
I notice Masina, Sierralta and Hughes all made the Championship team of the week. They have all brought a balance to the side we've missed so far this season. I feel far more confident with that back four. Sometimes all you need is a defender that will fly into headers and get rid. Bachmann's awareness for the freak OG attempt was encouraging too.
If he plays, I propose an Andre Gray drinking game. Nominally named after Stellas 'Le Grandes', but you can insert your own brew of choice... Welcome to Le Graynde. If Gray should be offside, you have to drink a Le Grande. If Gray should miss a clear chance drink a Le Grande. You may want to modify this to your own lockdown enduced tolerance levels, in order to stay conscious through the match I reccomend one sip per each of these, you should 'just' stay conscious if he plays 90 mins.
I'm going with tea. Might have a caffeine induced fit before the end though. Or just really need a wee.
1st half of the season was ok (points wise), but a second half of the season like that won’t get us promoted automatically, no point playing for draws we need to go out to win everything. If (big if) we can improve slightly on Tuesday we should win , not sure what effect three games in seven days will have (you would kind of hope practice make perfect !) choice of squad is essential, fair enough give Gray another chance at home but on the road we need to start with our strongest 11 , this is winnable worry about next Tuesdays squad when we have won this, heart says 0-3 Deeney, JP, Hughes brain says 0-1 (one of our midfield bundling it in) I hope we at least get another clean sheet to keep building Bachman’s confidence , I know everybody plays out from the back now but both Foster and Bachman alarm me with the amount of time they take on the ball.
Another tough game, people have been saying the last two were massive games, but for me this one is even more season defining, if we can put in a solid performance and take all 3 points that will mean 3 wins on the bounce for the first time this season, but moreso it will hopefully fire the team up and give them confidence to go out and win the majority of away games this season. Under Ivic this more than any other game would have 0-0 written all over it, now I fancy us to win 1 or 2-0.
Ah yes, I'm not in Quarrendon, I think I may have been bigging Stoke up a little more if I was, promised land! Aylesbury is fine as long you get home before dark and don't mind a roundabout or twelve on the way.
Ha very good point! I absolutely despise the three roundabouts at the top of town, I avoid them like the plague!
I'm glad I got to appreciate this movie before f Berkhampstead? I've been to the place many a time unfortunately. Mostly to play football, nowadays it's a good destination for fly-tipping.
I remember the last two games we played Stoke (at home) thinking they were the most anti-football team I had ever seen, I hope they have improved if not watching tomorrow is not going to be fun!
