Had to be pulled apart in training and Sterling now dropped from the England team. According to Sky Spurts (spit); "Raheem Sterling tried to grab Joe Gomez by the neck and said "you think you're the big man now?" He should have been booted out for rubbish insults. Seeing as how Worrell's lad is about a foot shorter than the monstrous Scouse, he probably does think he's the big man. I think he's a big man and surely diddy Sterling ought to have been able to come up with a better insult than that while gazing up at the enemy towering above him? Insulting him for being big is stupid. He should have learnt through football that he's not going to win by muscle and grabbing him by the neck. He needs to use the same trickery and speed of thought he uses in an England shirt. I mean Gomez is obviously way more blessed with brawn than with brain. He should have crept up behind him and tapped him on the other shoulder and then made extravagant winker gestures behind his back when he looked round. Then he could have left a pound coin conspicuously on the floor and when Gomez bent down to pick it up, he could have kicked him up his arse.
It's why Southgate had to be seen doing something . Good job this wasn't an important major tournament game !
Sad story. Hope the pair can sort it out between themselves. You can ask for a transfer from your club but can't (in this context) change your nationality. So Gomez would be the loser whatever the rights and wrongs, as Sterling is the more valuable player.
You can in tennis. Just look at Rusedski and the lesser known case of Siobhan Nicholson. Tennis Canada put millions into Rusedski and then he decides to play for GB and arrives with his union flag headband. They are still annoyed twenty years on. However with their current players,Raonic,Shapovalov,Agur Aliassime,Andrescu, they are probably recovering! Siobhan represented Ireland in the Fed Cup but now plays seniors tennis for GB. Very odd. Nationality is surely one nation only? Although didn't Di Stefano play for three countries?
Yes I think di Stefano did play for three countries, but that was before Sepp Blatter came along and closed all the loopholes.
Many Brazilian footballers who are not good enough to play for Brazil seem to conjure up alternative nationalities.
