Who will these seats be allocated too I wonder? Home or Away fans?

Sounds like that whole corner is going to be sorted out then. Bigger shop, hospitality on the top and 400 seats in the corner. New building then I should imagine.

I'd imagine home fans. It will probably be further extension from the EJS.

Will improve the look at atmosphere within the ground.

    Really encouraging!

  7. The seats maybe connected to the hospitality?

I'm sure some will but 400 seems a lot just for that. They will have to relocate the disabled folk from that corner too so maybe some provision for them as well? Either way it will tidy up that corner no end.

Good question....and I think it should or at least could be made to be adaptable for home and away fans since it needn't be affiliated to either adjoing stand

Do disabled people still sit there? I've only ever seen the Soccer Saturday reporters there over the last few years.

It looks like it will be the end of what remains of the stadium when I first start coming in 1983, the yellow railings that used to separate the Family Terrace from the North Terrace seem to be all that is left.

Wow, Great work Gino, Scott and Glynn. Moving very quickly. This hospitality is obviously needed now we are using part of the SW corner for a TV studio. I wonder whats happening with the Centerplate contract ?

Could end up seeing the biggest home attendance at Vicarage Road for a while next season.

Could the creation of the new corner area help release more seats in the Vicarage Road stand for home fans? Surely this 400 seat corner area will not be available until the end of the year at the earliest? - New seats in front of the EJ clearly possible by August 4th, but a new building must mean planning permission, blah blah blah as well as the restricted work area, that must all mean it would be unlikely by the start of the season. Maybe they could build the corner piece off site and just crane it in in sections. They built the AAU at Watford General very quickly as it was basically a kit and just assembled on site. All very exciting - that within 12 months the stadium will be completed, amazing work by the owner and management team

Fairly sure its where the away disabled fans are housed.

Should give us non STHs a better chance to attend some home games next year.

I hope they decide to use the existing Hornet Shop for extra loos/catering in the VR which would hopefully allow more of the 5300 capacity to be used. The main issue will be when we have a home FA cup tie in which you have to give 15% of capacity to away fans.

Edit. I've never really understood the numbers restriction in the VR since the concourse areas were linked.

I have just been informed the new stand is for players in the category of " rumours ", 49 of the seats are already taken and I have it on good authority that by the end of August the full 400 will be taken up no problem.

  21. So player family and guests with dedicated hospitality over a new shop then?

Fair play if so, releases 400 seats in the centre of the SEJ or LGT wherever they are these days

It will be so much nicer not having players families up there behind us in the middle of the SEJ now. Rich kids with noisy toys and no interest in the game were a bit of a nightmare to be honest.

It's an interesting insight at times though. Spoke to a few family members inadvertently. Guedioura's agent (or relative...?) is so proud of him, etc.

Official capacity given is 21,400 - more than Swansea's. Still 18th in terms of capacities in PL, but a great improvement to the club already. I imagine it might not be long until we see the capacity get to 25,000.

It'll surely never be completed. Just gets more complex and expensive to expand from here on in!

I think the Vic will be the Watford equivilant of the Segrada Familia, none of us will ever see it completed.

Will the new section have a roof or open to the elements?

I don't know why they keep asking me as they never keep to the plan.

Looking at the corner, it will be interesting to see how they work it. There are two support pillars for the corner of each stand that will need to be moved, as they will restrict views. The Vic stand and GT stand are different heights and shapes, so integrating a new roof over the corner will not be easy. Engineers and Architects will earn their money on this one.

I don't think it's going to be a proper bowl stadium-like corner. I would hazard a guess that they will put a building in that corner to house the shop, away turnstile blocks and the new hospitality facilities and then bolt rows of seats to the part facing out onto the pitch.

Irish - You're thinking of the wrong corner I think.

I took a family photo for the Ighalos.

  32. The SEJ has a cantilevered roof - no pillar. Is the pillar at the end of the VR structural. or is it just for the floodlight gantry? The lights will have to be upgraded anyway.

  33. Nightmare site to work on I imagine, building on a slope with limited side or front access for machinery

Everything will take twice as long and cost twice the price

So that will mean two men and their dogs as opposed to the one man and his dog last summer!

Just drove past and theres plenty going on in that corner already, including a visit from the law.
