Yeah, up the M1. It's a bit overpriced, mind you.

To my knowledge I don't think anybody ever walked through the allotments, they walked up the lane beside them, at least not since the 70's, before that I don't know for sure? Can any one correct me on that?

The flats have only been here about 5 or 6 years, so some of you have not been supporting us for long by the sounds of it.

As if that is going to really happen!

Anyway, they do have Kenilworth Road on there as well...

A Chelsea supporting friend of mine tells me (often!) of them chucking vegetables at each other going into the ground in the 1980's.. though they could have course just jumped a fence or whatever.

Hey i wonder if thats where their 'celery' song came from!

I grew up very near the ground and my parents had one of the allotments in c1975. It had padlocked gates back then as it does now. Any away fans would have walked up Occupation Rd, parallel to the allotments rather than through them.

.... else they would have been told to fork off.

Actually they used to go up Cardiff Road & around the allotments that way. That kept them well away from us & led to the South West corner away section (well from 79 onwards)
I think the long walk round became a 'walk through' after many repeated tales over the years.

When Anthony Joshua is World Champion, we could pull in some SERIOUS revenue by hosting his fights. May need a larger Vic for that to be considered viable though.

Would we, though? Look at the crowd 'footprint' at Upton Park:

Yeah but West Ham is such a ****hole probably nobody could be arsed to watch a fight there as they'd have to hang around beforehand.

Disappointed TV Gantry won't be on the East Stand, I prefer it looking at GT stand. Positive is the expansion is official with the East Stand going all the way to pitch level which I look as I think the stairs are an eyesore

The Elton John Stand was built with a tv gantry in it but it looks like it's only ever going to get used by the club staff who spend matchdays up there.

Great news about the extra seating, but I imagine they will be open to the elements, which I suppose can't helped at this stage.

However, I hope that in two or three years when we are established as a top 10 Premiership team, we will upgrade the EJ stand to a permanent and more substantial structure, fully sheltered from the elements and with greater capacity.

In the meantime and whilst we are about it, surely we could do something about converting the current seating around the ground with obstructed vision, into seating with unobstructed vision; I would have thought there must be a way of doing this?

The pessimism that pervades these forums is depressing. You might want to wait two or three years I fully expect things to move considerably faster than that.

You are right P O, I really want that too and I hope we can achieve it sooner rather than later, however I am not being pessimistic, just a little more pragmatic me thinks ;)

I think that the moment we become an established top 10 side, the Pozzos will be upgrading more than just the EJS.

Vicarage Road will probably already be sold to flat developers by that stage.

I drove past Colchesters stadium at the weekend and the location is utterly depressing, (in the middle of nowhere). Please god that never happens to us.

  20. Buy back the flats, knock them all down

    Good afternoon gentlemen.

I don't see the club being relocated to Colchester any time soon.
Nor do I forsee us moving to nowhere if, as I suspect, it's a different place to Colchester.

    Good day.

Tell you what, LED Boards, Foreign TV gantries, extra seats, goal-line tech.

Starting to really feel like we're in the big time now.

  24. Presumably they will have steps up from the existing tunnels.

Is the permanent TV studio going to be in the SW corner? Seems like a no brainer.

Funny you should say that, as all the flats are no longer owened by individuals apparently, just by the original builder (Orion ? I can't remember )

Yes. This is being done as we speak.

One there and one in the North West corner under the screen. Going to be a proper job by the sounds of it - glass fronted too on that floor so slowly but surely the SW Corner is getting done.

720 extra seats being installed bringing SEJ capacity to just over 3,800. From the video on Hornets Player it's clearly going to cover the nearly the whole length of the pitch. A new media conference room is being built behind the stand to cater for 70 people too.

I thought they were meant for "key workers" and thus, owned by a housing association?

Anyone with Hornets Player care to share any exclusive information found in the video? And pictures preferably?

There were no pictures, it was all chat. Most of what was revealed has been revealed on here.

There's going to be an extended gantry coming off the roof of the GT stand, and it'll look much cleaner as the current one is a mess. There will also be a long gantry between the upper and lower tiers for foreign media and commentary. Views will not be obstructed though.

Post #63. No pictures as there's nothing to see. It's just an interview in front of the GT Stand and SEJ Stand with the stadium manager.
