So this **** show is coming round again.

Think I may well give it a go as a I fully expect to be hungover next Sunday after a week of excess.

KJT gets my vote this year as she is the new future Mrs. Meister and the only one of the shortlist I've seen live.

Hamilton - Probably the best driver in a good few years but he's still a bit dislikable and $ky
    Asher-smith - Meh
Wyn Jones - 6nations fair enough, RWC lets him down,
Sterling - PC choice anti racism innit
Stokes - cricket, yawnm apart from the super over. All cricket should be a super over.

Oh dear - poor Gary might not be so smug now.

Called Stokes the main award "winner " early !!

    Possible fix?

  6. How can it not be Hamilton? Close to being the most successful competitor in his sport of all time. What other British sportsperson can say that?

I thought it was pretty embarrassing at the end the audience couldn't be arsed / told to stay at their seats for 60 seconds or so while the credits rolled. By the end Stokes was stood there showing off a trophy while a fanfare played to banks of empty seats and people queuing with backs turned to rush to the free bar or whatever.

I agree, but he has already won it, and may probably get another chance next year. I think that influences votes.

    Because F1 is incredibly dull?

Because every year he's in a 2-3 horse race? Plus he has a terrible personality.

Stokesy was the obvious winning, in my opinion. I'm assuming you didn't watch the WC Final or his one man show in the Ashes?

Slightly disappointed eithe Steve Smith or Simone Biles didn't win the international award.

Because he's from Stevenage and very few people that have visited Stevenage* have anything good to say about it.
Hamilton was very rude about it so even people who live there won't vote for him and as Keighley said,F1 is very tedious.
    * Old Stevenage apart, especially Rooks Nest House.

Put Hamilton in a Haas or Toro Rosso next season - if he becomes World Champion again, then he deserves SPOTY.

I didn't watch, award ceremonies are pretty tedious. Was he particularly arrogant, overly commercial, self important and patronising?

  16. Embarrassing blubbery waffle... if I were the producer I would have played music over the top loudly to shut him up.

Probably not but he was heavy favourite so rather unfortunate .

And they made sure he was there unlike with Hamilton .

Hamilton might win if he makes it 7 but to most people he has it very easy - not his fault but even when Ferrari are ahead they mess up.

  18. It's not even a 3 horse race is it? Basically him vs whoever his team mate is that year.

Sport is dull. Hamilton is dull and a bit of a **** from what I've seen and read. Only ever going to be 1 team winning it and he has the best mechanic team out of the 2.

Remember the fuss he kicked up when some if his mechanics were shifted over to his team mate a few years back?!

Looks like there's a bit of weight going behind Formula E next year may be more interesting than F1 dross.

Another extravagant navel gazing exploration which was well avoided barring a couple of snippets. Do they have any respect for those who have passed ? Once again interrupting the roll call with views of the alleged singer. I did find the Doddie Weir segment which I missed half of and then saw on the BBC Sport website rather moving. Rob Burrow the Leeds Rhino and GB Star has also been diagnosed with MND. The incidence is markedly higher in those that play contact sport at a high level.

I read something a fews years ago that suggested that active, high achieving men are very prone to MND.
It now seems to be shrinking to contact sport, although Paul Hutchins died from it earlier in the year and tennis cannot be described as contact.
