As far as I can see the main benefit of this competition is the opportunity for countries like Scotland to qualify through it for the Euros. Otherwise it looks like it will be the international equivalent of the League Cup, which teams don’t take seriously until the very latter stages when there is the chance of lifting the trophy. Would it really matter if England were relegated to the second tier? Not if the above applies.
I don't get the negativity about it at all. But really I meant compared the other night, where a fair few were clearly watching.
It's probably because of the other nights borefest that anyone who was vaguely interested didn't bother tonight either.
Bit of a game of 2 halves. England excellent in 1st half but as expected Spain came out strongly so we had to dig in and have a bit of luck. Probably be favourites for the Euros now knowing our media.
Well, that’s what International football used to be like. Irrespective of the result, that was a proper intense match. So much better than dreary friendlies. Well done the Nations League.
How long does the NL go on for? Being one of the slow ones at the back, I’ve only just realised that Croatia are a game behind. Do we play them once more?
It's Sept/Oct/Nov for the group games and then the group winners play off next summer for the trophy. Euro 2020 normal qualifiers start in March through 'til November 2019.
Wayne Rooney to play a part against the USA as a good bye and thanks too the fans (presumable not the ones he swore at in the 2010 World Cup!) In all fairness its also to raise money for his foundation. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46089205
What a joke. If international football is so unimportant the rest of the squad should pull out and have a rest. Why not invite the Euro ‘96 boys back for a kickabout? Southgate on penalties.
