Roll up, roll up folks, this is it. The big one. The one you've all been waiting for. It's the War of the Worst, the Battle of the B*llocks, the Struggle of the Sh*ttest. That's right ladies and gents, the 2 worst teams in the league are ready to go head to head to see if one of them is able to somehow fluke a win at the other's expense.

In the red corner we have Southampton, who can currently boast 1 more point than Watford despite having the worst defensive record in the league with a shocking 31 goals conceded from 13 games. My personal thanks goes out to the Saints for their humiliating 9-0 defeat at home to Leicester, which helped divert attention away from some other embarrassingly large loss that happened earlier this season, selective memory is preventing me from discussing further details. Despite a credible 2-2 draw with THE Arsenal (conceding in the very last minute), the Saints have now gone 8 games without a win. Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl had called on his team to turn "nasty" in order to survive - let's face it, it only takes a bit of desire to have success against Watford these days and the Saints will be confident of putting their winless streak to an end.

In the blue (or maybe yellow) corner we have the Mighty Hornets, rock bottom of the table following yet another abject display at home to Burnley. At time of writing we have yet to see the club's official channels post the eagerly-anticipated picture of the Vicarage Road corner flag, so we can assume the QSF will remain at the helm and we can expect more of the same dull, heartless and goal-less football that we have had to become accustomed to this season. The loyal travelling Hornets get to enjoy yet another turgid display at St. Mary's followed by a minimum of 30 minutes queuing for the bridge to cross the railway and the inevitable wade through the underpass that always seems to be flooded even in dry weather.

Predicted teams - who cares really. Both teams will feature defenders who can't defend and attackers who are also a bit sh*t. Deeney may well be fit to start and should be able to fit our current hideous style better than the hapless Gray. Meanwhile Ings will be looking to make it 3 goals in 3 games for the hosts.

I will be there as I hate myself. But what better way to go through torture than surrounded by pie-eating strangers with BO that you have just the 1 thing in common with, ey? COYH

Here are some Southampton buildings that sadly are still more attractive than our football this season.

The famous Wyndham Court. At least it has a tree. This is genuinely Grade II listed...

Give me the Southampton Uni Maths block over Femenia any day of the week...

City Gateway - nominated for "Ugliest New Building" in 2016. I don't actually mind this one so much. As long as it is in Southampton. Where I don't have to see it ever.

  2. I'll nail my colours to the mast early and go for a 3-0 away win.

Been good on when on TV this year. This result is the start.

    Must win game.
The way they battered Arsenal and we folded meekly to Burnley at the weekend it will probably be 5-0.
If they are as unlucky as they were against the arse, maybe 2-0.

Which player will get injured in the first half this time ?

Guess Kabasele would come in for Mariappa but then is Dawson going to be fit ?

Dawson will be fit. If a case of the ***** and a graze on his head can't be sorted in a week then we truly have no hope.

Well you'd like to think bit with our medical team who knows !

    Apparently he was also ill.

Will Cleverly and Quina ever be fit soon..

Quina could be the only fit centre midfielder at the club, including U23s, and Quique would still find someone else to play there ahead of him.

Oddly there's 2 or 3 managers more likely to be sacked before Flores or Hasslehoff.

    So l have read.
My guess is the bookies just expect Watford to jettison their manager at any moment.
Who is out there to replace the 5 managers on the bookies list?
We would surely be at the bottom of the pecking order.
Interesting week ahead for those managers.

We also battered Arsenal and we have been crap ever since. Lose this Sanchez has to go although I feel the new manager will have too much to do anyway now.

Southampton have a worse defensive record than us so positive football would seem to be the way to play. Shame we have a manager with such a negative approach. I'm not even tbat bothered anymore of we go down and get rid of Quique and I can start enjoying my football team again then happy days

1st half on Saturday we did attack and create chances .

Worry was we actually seemed to get worse when the subs were made .

Doucoure and Capoue seemed to be playing deeper with just the 3 left up front ..

The problem with this is if we somehow manage to scrape a win against another of the worst teams in the league for a while, then Quique will seemingly earn himself a further reprieve, just in time to lose us more points in an ongoing sense, just as with Norwich, when one of the worst team performances seen in the Prem allowed us to sneak the first victory of the season at the 12th time of asking. We need decisive leadership; what's the point in desperately hanging on, refusing to either **** or get off the pot? We should have replaced him when that replacement would have had two weeks to bed in with his players and further chances to earn some points, including against Burnley.

Now we find ourselves back in a similar Catch-22: if we lose to Southampton, we are up **** creek without a paddle, but if we win, although we get some points that are almost required to have any chance of survival, we simultaneously earn Quique enough affirmation to go on doing even more damage for several more weeks at least and preventing us from having any realistic chance of the change we need to even dream of an escape. Gino should be taking decisions based on all the evidence available to him, not working on a basis of 'Ooh, ok then, if you can jump this one hurdle on Saturday you can stay for now'.

My feelings also. Flores has blown three very winnable home games already with his negative approach and even if we win on Saturday we are deep in the mire. The decision to reappoint him was the worst in a long line of incompetent Pozzo decision making. An absolutely terrible managerial appointment.

I have to agree with this. However, I do have a degree of sympathy for the appointment. When we got him the first time he was considered a step up and a bit of a coup. He did an exceptionally good job right up to the beginning of January 2016. Kept a newly promoted side in the Premier League with ease and an FA Cup semi final to boot. After that our form spiralled and he was sacked. Since his sacking from us, his managerial career has continued to take a downward turn though.

When he came back I thought it was a strange and poor appointment, but maybe it could work. There were a lot of ticks in the box as to why we went for him. He knew the club and the Premier League, he was available and he did do a pretty good job the last time around even though it did go wrong in the end for him. Our defense was appalling and a defensive coach may have been the guy to sort that out, and to a degree he has done this, but his extreme solution has destroyed all hope of scoring goals. The trade off is too big. The only way we will win under his ultra-defensive system is in a perfect storm. The game will have to go exactly according to plan, but any deviation to this and we are toast.

Take the lead at Norwich, Spurs, and great the plan works, but go a goal down and the game is instantly lost. This approach will never work in trying to string a block of wins together.

The owners have to look at the timing also. Was it wise to bring in a new coach when the next three fixtures were incredibly difficult? All hope of a new manager bounce was lost after that City debacle. It completely destroyed him. Although I suspect the way we set up in that game had a big reason as to why we lost by such a heavy margin. I'm still at a loss as to why Flores went with 4 at the back against City then Wolves, but changed it for the home match to Sheff Utd. It made no sense and still doesn't.

What he's doing, how he's setting us up in the winnable home matches is appalling. 5 at the back and two dmf's for game against Sheff Utd, Bournemouth and Burnley was just ridiculous. We scored zero goals and only picked up two points from games where the owners would probably expect 7 or 9.

Away from home, to go with 5 at the back is ok, but not in the home games. It's extreme and should only be reserved for the likes of City or Liverpool.

It was a punt to appoint Flores, but has clearly not worked out. We've won only one of his matches, and they've not all been tough ones. 1 win, 4 draws, 4 defeats in a team that needed it's form turning around. He's had no impact and the last result was probably the final straw.

It's obviously going to be massively ****. Everyone knows it, the Watford fans, the Southampton fans, the neutrals. A veritable all you can eat buffet of ****-sandwich beamed direct to your telly box to ruin your Saturday night and those of millions of others. A smorgasboard of ****.

Having said that, we might actually win, as Southampton are so ****. However this would still be completely **** because Quique's "park the ****bus" tactics will be vindicated for another few **** games.

2-0 Watford with an unpleasant aftertaste.
