We’re at the stage now that it will be pointless trying to spend our way out of it in January, it will be a complete waste of money.

It will never happen, but it will be cheaper and more sensible to get rid of QSF now and bring Benitez in. They won’t want to spend the money, but it would still only cost a fraction of the money it would cost to bring in enough players to even come close to saving us now.

I meant clearly via the TV replays, which is what VAR is meant to be looking at. As I’ve said in a different post, it managed to spot Laporte’s fingernail-at-best contact to disallow a goal.

SSN saying that VAR missed the handball for the first goal and that a mistake was made. We have been poor this season, but we must be around 4-6 points worse off, due to VAR.

I normally give the forum a wide berth after we are beaten as too gutted to put up with the arguing

however, I didn’t see the point in sacking QSF we are already down , but he cost us the game yesterday , once he took of Gerry who was carrying the ball up front and giving us some release from the pressure we were ****ed , we spent 20 mins hoofing the ball out of our area and it was coming right back for more pressure.

we have realistically no chance of survival , apparently only 2 teams in 27 years of PL have survived with this few points at this time of the year , we would have to have a second half of a season like our first half last year and I can’t see that happening.

I think everything has gone wrong this year , injury has cost us (Janmat / Deeney/ Dawson - who was just coming good), VAR (has cost us potentially 6 or 7 points) , signing injury prone players (what is the point of wellbeck - no offence to him but come on) . However the real problem is our inability to adapt and fight through adversity

At an absolute push we are not likely to get more than 4 points from the next 5 games, which means we will end up half the season with 12 points, even if we have a blinding 2nd half to the season (I think we got 25 from the 1st half last year) we will only reach 37 ish points , so will need others to fall apart.

Sad but can’t see how anything can change enough for us to survive, let’s just hope we dont end up with Silva again

    Message From Captain Capoue

"We didn’t get three points for us, for them, for the club, so we are very frustrated for the club today.
We have to believe. We need the fans behind us, to believe as well, because we can do it and everyone is on the same page. We really need everybody on board to make it.”

Erm, we are behind you Capoue, we turn up week after week expecting to see a different attitude and desire to change things. You start well in some games
then switch off near the end. What you need to figure out though, is that the manager doing it or yourselves? We want the best for the club, as do you.
But you need to work harder in changing the current situation, that isn't directed at you alone, the whole squad needs to stand up and be accounted.

Didn’t see the match but glad I missed it now.

Not sure how he played overall , but the Sarr finish was excellent and he looked like someone with the confidence and composure to finish chances , which we really need . So I’m taking some heart from that but I’m about 85% that we are gong down now.

He was much better than we had seen previously. Missed a good chance early on but made some good runs and took his goal very well. Long way to go but a bit more promising

That was all happening before Gray came on as well. Delboy was losing the ball every time he got it as well as every 50-50 and appeared utterly deflated.

On the subject of Sarr I'm going to be Mr Smug: After seeing his promo video or whatever it was, I said he will be frustrating but is genuinely quick. Speed is at the basis of what he does: He attempts first-time shots and quick incisive movements. You need plenty of confidence to play that way, as it means plenty of mistakes and, of course, he has joined the wrong club from that point of view. We have seen flashes of his potential and his style, eg a single touch, turn and shot against Arsenal.
I presume Gino bought him so as to turn our football in that direction: More pace of running and thought and action was clearly required.
Unfortunately, they have made the mistake of getting coaches who are not of that frame of mind.
It was not difficult but he was Watford's stand-out player last night.

Sarr has to play from now on, but on the wing or at least on the right of a front three, not as a central pseudo-striker.

Hoddly heenuff something good came from yesterday's performance. When the first Soton goal went in I switched-off the match and returned to my, deeply unsatisfying binge watch, of Spiral/Engrenages S07. I had got up to Ep6 and it was bland formulaic crap - if it hadn't been for Southampton/QSF I had decided to bin the show and I wouldn't have started on E7 which finally stepped up a gear (ho! ho!) and became the extremely interesting series that all of the precious seasons have been. Thank you WFC, QSF and Southampton.

Hang on, are you sure? He seems to me to be our current best bet for a goal-scorer. He has decent goal-scoring form and going for goal is what he does. He largely does (on not a huge amount of evidence, it is true) all the right things for this. The competition, it has to be said, is considerably underwhelming.
You may gather I am already a bit of a fan.
I can also see why others have their reservations. He is, I think, very much a player the supporters (and, indeed, the other players), must show a lot of faith in, it will not be plain sailing. In his favour there isn't much competition. Contra to that he has joined in the middle of a s**t-show.
It is important that Delofeu (spelling?) ups his game: GD must lift his head and see the pass and when it is needed; something he is notoriously bad at. But, if he starts to get that right we have the possibility of a proper attacking duo.

A fair post and probably a good time to address it seeing as the actual match traffic has died down.

Yep that's maybe a reasonable precis of the Politics section which you obviously visit as an observer otherwise you wouldn't know that. It has a few lengthy and wordy contributors (including me) who are more interested in politics than is maybe sensible/normal, particularly at this time and with maybe 'too much time on our hands'. I'm not sure that "grandstanding to an imaginary QT audience" is correct though. Maybe more needing to argue with detail against those ranged against you who are similarly masters of it (given their interest) but from a different viewpoint. Challenging. Why it's my favourite bit of the entire forum.

You're correct to point out that being a bit overly 'head to head' isn't really appropriate in this section though. I'm the main culprit. I apologise.

You're also correct to point out the anonymity issue. I'm on a WhatsApp group with four others who sit adjacent to me in the Rookery. Only recently acquainted. We argue about all the same stuff but it's much more civilised because it isn't anonymous.

I've no particular need to 'win an argument'. If hb1 or anyone else can come up with a convincing argument that VAR won't, in the long term, be of benefit or that we, individually, are being shafted by it deliberately then feel free.

My new policy is to not be goaded by your 'wee pointy stick'. Should I get really p.ssed then that might change if Kelso makes a successful escape bid.

A lengthy post and probably not the most appropriate place. But you raised it all. Here.

Funnily enough, having been to all those but Middlesbrough, I have not seen us lose at any of them.
    Preston once won 2-1
Leeds twice won 4-0 (League Cup) and 3-2
    Blackburn once won 2-1
    Wigan once won 2-0

Middlesbrough is a dumpster fire. Your haven't missed much. I went to our premier game their and we won 1-0. Awful game
and on the way back some of the locals were giving it the big "I am" to some Watford fans. Funnily enough, the got relegated and
we survived. Might of been Wally's season.

Assuming too many don't come the other way then a good few more I can get too, plus Rotherham if they go up.

  30. I have finally given up all hope to be honest. This one was the final straw for me.

However... of all those clubs in previous years to fail from this many points, I still feel our current position belies our actual ability.

We are far better than where we are and I do believe we have the players to pull ourselves out of it.

But as I say, I don't think we will now unless someone does really come in a shake the whole dressing room up to eek out the big wins we're going to need.

I know this goal should have been disallowed, but how on earth did we concede anyway?

7 Watford players, and not one Southampton player in this shot, apart from the guy with the ball of course.

Not one Watford player looking over his shoulder to see where any attackers may be. Capoue's taken up the correct position to prevent a runner getting to any pull-back, but his body position is absolutely dreadful. And both Cathcart & Mariappa should have been in a position to warn him about Ings' run to the near post. Totally shocking dereliction of fundamental defensive application.

Kamara analysed this on Goals on Sunday. He highlighted Masina not moving towards the winger but just hovering . Chalobah moves at a snails pace- both at fault - so much for tight defensive duties drilled into the team by the late QSF
