The only person I hate more than Holebas in the world is that absolutely moronic fan.

So have to agree with you.

So the new Head Coach bounce lasted just under 4 minutes!

Seriously though, he will have learnt from today. Learnt more about the players he has available. He wasn’t afraid to change things today, and made positive substitutions. He now has 3 more days working together with his available squad before a huge league game on Wednesday. I’d rather have won both but if the choice was today or midweek, I know which I’d take. I don’t think we suffered any more injuries and certainly no suspensions today at least.

I posted last Sunday that I thought Gracia was a huge gamble at this stage of our season and our club history. Not because he’s not decent or hasn’t got potential, but because he has so little time to find his feet here, as opposed to a summer appointment. He’s started badly but obviously can’t be judged on one game. Our survival rests on his ability to settle here quickly, to learn fast and to try to turn around a huge mess not of his own doing. New recruits might help, but only if they are the right recruits. Good players who will fit right in fast, and good characters too. Hands up who has total belief in our recruitment team’s chance to get that right in the next four days?

The spat at the end today is just a sideshow. It’s just something to distract people and bring out the moral outrage. The only thing that matters is getting results, starting Wednesday. Fans are entitled to boo. Players are entitled to react. But all pulling together and getting behind each other might be more helpful and worth more in the long run.

Tonight things seem dire. A Head Coach brought in to improve our defence sees it conceed in under 200 seconds. Our forwards can’t score. Our brightest spark from the early part of the season looks spent. Our two other South American creators aren’t creating much. Our full backs don’t fit the system. Half the squad is crocked and plenty of the other half seem unwilling or able to put in a shift to merit wearing the shirt. Every little negative off the pitch is seized upon and magnified, leading to some describing the atmosphere around the club as toxic. It’s easy to feel depressed tonight.

But another match is never far away. It only takes something good to happen on Wednesday and who knows how things could turn quite quickly, maybe quite unexpectedly.

    Keep the faith.

I actually think the first step to any kind of revival would be helped by someone from the club, Duxbury maybe, admitting that everyone at the club has made mistakes this season and they all need to work together now. The whole place seems toxic and hardly anyone is pulling in the same direction. Silva was a big part of the issue - but not the whole problem. There’s still something very wrong in the changing room.

It’s also asking too much to expect the bulk of our injured players to come back and hit the ground running. We need signings. Now.

Whether anyone rates Deeney or not, we simply cannot sell him in this window when the situation at the club is as it is - he’s needed in the dressing room. Okaka has to be the one to go if space needs to be made.

We need real quality to be bought between now and deadline end. Gino may need to take a financial hit and spend beyond his means. If we go to the Udinese reserve well on deadline day and sell Deeney for Afobe, I’m officially throwing the towel in on the PL and real questions will need to be asked of the powers that be.

I’m not one to ‘throw the baby out of the bathwater’ - but this feels like a very crucial point in time for the club. And the noises about the direction they are thinking of going in are alarming.

Finally someone needs to seriously do something about Pereyra. He’s been back long enough to start dictating games - but he is cruising and has easily been amongst our worst players this season. I’m amazed at the lack of stick he’s getting over his lack of energy or effort. Players like Zeegelaar, whilst playing terribly, at least they are playing to their limits, which just isn’t very good. Players like Pereyra have no excuse at all.

Seems a bit of an over-reaction from Holebas to a reasonable question about what new eyeliner he is using that prevents him from no longer sitting down whilst defending and allowing an opponent to score

I still don't accept injuries as an excuse. We had the personnel out there to play a better game than that. Players like Pereyra, Richarlison, and bloody Capoue should be giving better accounts of themselves.

If I was Javi, I'd rest Rich in training for a week or two, forget Capoue even exists, and have a serious word with Pereyra.

I’m trying to be! I’m aware I was very downbeat on Sunday. I have been impressed with what I’ve heard about (and from) Garcia, but just feel he might not be a big enough personality to turn our huge mess around in the short timescale he has left this season. I also have little ability in our recruiting team’s ability to get the right sort of players in this week. Too often our recruiting seems like Fantasy Football, bringing in too many exotic sounding names for whom we become just another payday. I really thought they’d started to get things right with the likes of Chalobah, Hughes and Cleverley so we shall see. We need good players, fit players but also good men to join us before Wednesday. And we need to show the exit door to some of our squad who don’t tick all those three boxes too.

It sounded grim and a draw would have been undeserved but would have lifted spirits.
I hope that an executive decision was made to sacrifice today in favour of Wednesday. This is risky but if we don't lose I will accept it as a necessary evil for our current predicament.
All of us have frustrations at games but how can confronting players, who are thanking players for their support, help?
In the past some have complained that a few players don't thank the fans. I can't say I blame the players if this is what happens.
    Unacceptable and decidedly unhelpful.
The next 14 games are pivotal as we all know.
Time to unite and support the club or beggar off!

You were uncharacteristically down beat on Sunday.

The playing personnel limitations have be discussed ad nauseam on here and I hope that a bit of magic happens on Wednesday that re-ignights our season, staving off any chance of relegation and gets us playing somewhere near to our early season levels.

Southampton played today just as badly as we need up front - the difference is they scored one of their chances. There are so many fine lines in football, the what ifs, the maybe's and the what thens... but the simple fact is - we cannot create decent chances and when we do - we have nobody bar probably Deeney when he puts in a good shift to finish them off.

We have no playmaker on the park at all. Richie is being asked to do the roll of more than one player almost all the time because the other players can't be arsed to pull their weight. It is therefore no real wonder why his overall game has reduced to the roll of a mere spectator in some games. Why should he put in a good performance when so many others won't? We can get out of this - and hearing the players hold the badge at the end does inspire some hope they can be up for a fight.

Gracia has a big task on his hands to keep us in this league. We are always going to lose more games as a Premiership team but I would rather be a Premiership team then lurking mid table in the Championship. We get our squad back to full fitness, then sure we can compete with the. best in this league, we even game Man City a game at their place second half and won that half overall on commitment alone.

If we go down.. and that's if we go down not when - I will not blame Gracia for failing to keep us up - it's more down to Silva's total incompitance as a manager that has put us on the brink almost. I want to stay in this league, I want to look forward to going to Old Trafford and losing 7-0... (joke), but it's the truth and I know almost all of you feel the same. The players we have now can get us through this - but the question is not can they, it's will they want to?

I think we need to play Deeney and Gray on Wednesday, and play more direct. We simply don’t have enough creativity to pick our way through a premier league defence. Pereya is our most talented player but he appears to be in hiding, and the thought of him doing it on a cold night in Stoke is unlikely. I am amazed we have not brought reinforcements in this window so far.

Also first game under a new manager. You would think players would be trying as hard as possible to impress and guarantee their futures at the club. It’s quite a normal reaction to see fans annoyed or upset if this isn’t the case.

Wobby reporting that the abuse continued as the players boarded the coach with Holebas and Janmaat getting the brunt of it.

Affleck, who works for the club remember, has questioned why the Wobby asked no questions at the post-game press conference. Hinting that there’s something they should be trying to find out?

What a ridiculous state of affairs.

I've seen many relegation seasons over the past 38 years, and this side has that feel about it. You only have to look at that team sheet to know it would be a major surprise if we didn't struggle.

I'm a baffled why the club has not acted. We've been playing too many "squad" players for too many games. The medical department has been a mess for a long time and this was just ignored. I think it's right to point the finger at the club for their handling of this situation, and it could well cost us a place in the Premier league.

Ok, Silva did have to go, because he set the tone for the players and in the end the players were not responding to him. It does seem deep rooted now though, as the players did not respond to Gracia either and I'm really disappointed by that.

Only 4 days of the transfer window to go and no one is going to take our players off our hands. We need a massive clear out, but that's just not going to happen. It's going to be very hard to convince good players to come for a relegation battle.

I'm gutted to say this, but I get the feeling that relegation will be a formality, although depends on the Stoke game.

At the end of the day, in Holebas, Janmaat & Zeegelaar, we have by far the worst full backs / wing backs in the Prem. In Richarlison & Carillo, we have wingers who don’t want to be here. Our width is our weakness and ALL teams know it. Until this is addressed, we’re ****ed

Anyone else hear the buzz from the home crowd when Southampton brought on their new expensive striker? Shows how a new signing can lift the place. He might turn out to be rubbish but for the moment, the fans are excited and there's the possibility of him firing them up the table. Who do we turn to, 27 days into the transfer window? Jerome Sinclair. And a starting midfield containing Capoue and Watson(c). Board have to take responsibility here, the players we currently have fit are not good enough.

I was downbeat because I feared the club had recruited a perfectly adequate coach but at totally the wrong time. I believed, and still do, that we needed more experience as opposed to somebody coming in to do their first job in our league. I very much hope I’m wrong and won’t be jumping on his back after every loss. He’s impressed me with what he’s said so far, and his changes in the second half. We go again on Wednesday. I hope he will succeed but I still feel he represents a huge gamble with just 14 matches to stamp his ethos on the side.

I don’t allow myself to get too down about things tonight. Yes it’s true things seem bad. But that’s purely because we are losing matches. Losing games subconsciously then allows every other issue to naturally become part of the darkness. Were we a club in crisis after beating Arsenal in October? No! Did anybody post or tweet or claim to heard rumours back then of dressing room unrest? No! Were we busy discussing our recruitment shortcomings after enjoying watching Richarlison, Chalobah, Femenia, Cleverly etc in those early days? No! And my bet is this. If Gracia is the right man and we turn this round and pull a few wins out of that darkness, the smiles will soon come back and you won’t be reading claims about a toxic club and all it’s shortcomings.

Disgraceful. Some numb-skulls taking things so seriously that they think it's ok to resort to that level of abuse.. of our own players.

But enough about the message board ;)
Some of those travelling fans today went OTT. It should never come to the point where stewards feel the need to intervene. Embarrassing for the club tbh.

I wonder if the new boss requested they went over to the fans today?

On the train back now and a little bit of time to reflect.
We are very much in trouble unless we can get some injured players back, not looking good, or we sign some players very quickly.
The biggest issue we have is that the squad is good enough to cope with 3 or 4 injuries but not this amount and some of those players are not due back soon so we badly need a couple of players on loan at the very least.
    Today
Karnesis - did nothing wrong and in fairness does not look a bad keeper
Janmaat - I was really pleased when we signed him and ok as backup for Kiko for a couple of games here and there but not long term. Did virtually nothing positive today
Maraiappa - My MoM but not a lot else to beat to win that accolade. Good backup up but not good enough at this level
Kabasele - much like the rest of the defence was ok but his left foot is worse than Doyleys right
Holebas - I have no idea what was said to him by the fan but he got forward a lot and defensively was ok, I just don’t like him so not surprised he got involved at the end. Crossing was abysmal
Watson - dreadful, utterly dreadful, simply not even close to being good enough. Bottom half Championship at best.
Doucoure - what has happened to him? Maybe trying to do too much but easily the worst game in a yellow shirt.
Capoue - Enough is enough, I would rather play one of the under 23’s from now on.
Carrillo - Not done enough all season to convince me he’s good enough and today did basically nothing
Richarlison - Still giving all he’s got but misses the injured players and looks done
Gray - Had basically no service but still has a first touch that goes further than most people can kick it.
Subs - Okaka made a little bit of difference but not much and the other two didn’t really do anything.
Like last year, hugely disappointing 4th round performance but we then on to win at Arsenal 3 days later so hopefully we do the same at Stoke.
Hopefully we have Cleverly back for this as really missed his energy today.
As for the incident, I’m not sure what was said but people are passionate about this club, especially fans and maybe one went too far but I think most of us who went today were pretty annoyed with the lack of quality and drive today. Maybe it will turn up being a good thing.
On to a massive game at Stoke which we really desperately need to win so see you there if you’re going
