Well just been appointed Southend manager . They lost 7-1 at home with 9 men. Some work to do then Sol!!
I am not up to speed on Sols coaching skills or preferred formation. But surely he will start by adding two outfield players to bring it back to 11 v 11
Ofcourse and tell them not to get one sent off after 6 minutes although they actually took the lead after that!
I wish him well........ he has done it once , so it will be interesting to see if he can do it again . Southend is a bit of a cinderella club...... the surrounding area and population of South Essex deserve a better performing club, they should be high L1 or lower championship, but have been historically lower . Their ground is small which doesn't help but there have been schemes for a new stadium over the years ,but never have progressed .
There were a number of memorable trips to Roots Hall in the 90s. One match where we absolutely battered them but still managed to lose 1-0, the amazing Darren Bazeley hat-trick game and the fans’ fight over whether we should be supporting Kerry Dixon in a Watford shirt.
Peter Kennedy got a hat trick there too in the title winning season .. I remember going to Roots Hall on Easter Monday and we let in a last minute equaliser which proved pretty costly as we were relegated (96)
It's tough fir him at Southend .. Maybe Sol was wishing he was at Southampton?! https://mobile.twitter.com/theseaside100/status/1227643263601053696?s=21
