Honestly never thought I'd see grown adults spend so much of their time getting worked up about a stand that isn't progressing quick enough for their liking. It's a fecking stand. Who really gives a flying **** how long it takes to get it built?

Golden, you are right not to get too excited about the delays, but the answer to the question you raised is relative. We put up with an eyesore for a considerable period of time. Most of us were delighted with the news of the new stand and are looking forward to the completed stadium. A stadium to be proud of after the years tinged with some embarrassment as to the condition and look of the East stand. It is understandable, in my view, that certain frustrations are being expressed at the delay in the building of the new facility. If I was building an extension to my house and the build was taking months longer than I had been told, I would be frustrated. If I was told that I would receive a cheque by a certain date, I would be concerned if was not paid on time. This type of impatience is exacerbated with the lack of detail coming out on what the reasons for the delay are. We were initially told that it would be partly opened last season, then told it would be fully complete by the start of next season, now it seems that no part of it will not be ready by the start of next season. Recent club history shows that we have been stung by false promises and it is to be expected that concerns are expressed about the delays. It would be regrettable if we have a building site on both sides of the ground next season. I want to be proud of my club and part of that involves having a decent stadium. The South West corner has been an ugly unfinished project for some time now. It would be nice to have a project run efficiently and on time.

You asked "who really gives a flying **** how long it takes to get it built?" I do. I am not losing sleep over it, but it should have been completed before the start of next season.

I would ask for more patience for those of us who are impatient.

If we had a full stands worth of prospective season ticket holders waiting there might be concern about the timescale of completion. As it is it's unlikely we will fill it and I would rather have it done properly rather than done hastily only for it to sit empty over the summer holidays

Can't wait for the rest of the main stand to come down. After that just relieved the stand will run the length of the pitch and I'd much rather wait for that than have just part of a stand now.

17 row deep stand is starting to look much better than I had imagined.

And the Pozzo's are paying. Literally nothing more we could reasonable ask for (mirror of the rous stand if we sustain premier league in a few years would still be a long term goal though surely).

Or would some rather go back the bankrupt bas, ring fenced funds with local authority flats or a west ham fan as owner!

We thought it would look okay to copy the footprint of the old stand as a time saver, as we could have earned back a significant proportion of the stand through ticket sales over the seasons final few games.

We then realised that it looked shiite and that the new changing rooms looked too small so we are making a nicer looking stand with more seats, and larger changing rooms.

So what if it takes a couple of months more? Don't really see the problem.

With the Pozzos paying £3m+ of their own cash to build a new stand, I think they can be forgiven for mainly bringing in free transfers for the time being.

Disappointed with all the delays, but at the same pleased with the revised plans :sign15:

I think it will be worth the wait.

I don't understand the itchy feet.

A design was approved, then the club decided they wanted to make it look even better and made multiple changes to the design.

Frankly, what's a couple of months extra on a stand we've done without for almost a decade? The club isn't paying a penny for this stand and the cost is being met by the owners. We're extremely fortunate to be in that position.

I see that Burnley are having to make some ground improvements to meet PL requirements.

If we get promoted are there further improvements we'd have to make to meet standards that have changed since our last stay in PL?

No. The design of the stand (bottom row not pitch level) enables us to reach the 1% disabled allocation that will be required in the premiership which will be 210

Do you think that's the reason for that design as that's the only thing that disappoints me about the new stand. I've only ever seen non league stands like that!

If you ignore that at least there will be a stand instead of a tip - the appearance of it is still one of the worst in the league.

I think the main reason for it was the slope. They could always add rows on the front later though as hollywood says they could build platforms for wheelchair users.

Quite frankly, if this stand is still not finished by the Bilton game, I'm done with this club.

I'm starting to wonder if we may have exhumed a terrible curse by finally getting rid of the old East stand!

Think about it.. demolision work started in mid October last year. This started a run of 5 successive home league defeats which in effect ended our season. Recently we have seen many delays to the building of the new stand and even part of the old stand is not giving up the ghost just yet because of the asbestos find.

I wonder if some deadly secret lays beneath the old stand? or did the old Vicarage Road cemetry once cover part of the same ground? or maybe a passing L*t*n gypsy has planted something in the foundations?
