I think "OK" in this instance means still alive. The statement says he has had a successful operation (presumably a coiling or clipping of a ruptured aneurysm). We don't really know anything more than that. Outcomes from survivors cover a whole range of states from being able (in time) to lead a relatively normal life through to being unable to walk/talk (it's a form of stroke). I've got absolutely everything crossed he will be at the better end of the spectrum.
