As far as i'm concerned we are now relegated Which doesn't bother me in the slightest because we'll keep our squad together and challenge for the top 6 next season ;D ;D Was just wondering who/what kind of players we should be signing in January? I think signing young, quality rough diamonds from League one is the best way forward for us...players such as Billy Sharp from Scunthorpe will be ideal signings and will score plenty in the championship next season! I also think we should perhaps look to give Theo Robinson a run out in the next few weeks...he's now fully fit and scoring for fun for the nippers...he can't be any worse than Doris in front of goal...maybe not start him but definatley have him on the bench, would be good experience for him! We need to use this second half of the season in planning for next season! The 'ornets will be back in the Prem within 2 seasons and will be learning from naiveity this season! U ornssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Definitely with you on signing the likes of Sharp in January. We're pretty much a selling club so we need to be looking to players who can come in for a not unreasonable price, do an effective job and move on for a tidy profit - like Dean Ashton did at Norwich and I believe Dan Shittu will for us in the next couple of seasons.
I don't think that we would have many deserters. Ash might be subject to an offer but not sure he would want to go.
Yes Dave i think we'll keep the squad together for another assault of the championship! Young may possibly be the only desserter as mentioned above but if he does go it will be for a tidy amount and NO player is irreplaceable! I also don't think Ash would want to go either! We're in a very healthy state regardless of the outcome this season!
I agree and let's be honest Premiership teams wont want any of our players apart from maybe King & Young. That is the problem with teams coming up they pick off players from the teams coming down. But they were the players that got relegated.. and it's a vicious circle. The only way is to buy quality with a few up and coming ones. I also think we will be back up challanging in a few years time but I doubt it will be the first year.
If we do go down then we need to strengthen the squad. In the long run (ie. next 2 seasons) we need more depth up front, the full back positions need strengthening and a creative force in the centre of midifeld. Also the GK situation needs sorting. I do not believe that the current squad would be challening for promotion in the championship next season. The league has become alot stronger since last season with the likes of Derby, Burnley, Stoke and even Southampton starting to look like another bunch of teams who will fancy their chances. This championship sounds like an awful lot of fun ;D
I agree 100% with you Bubble. But I’m sure like you that doesn’t mean I’ve given up hope and I know Aidy and the players will do everything. I will continue to believe in a miracle until we have that R next to us, and even then I’ll pray that Chelski, Portsmouth and Man U are relegated for having foreign investors! Young players like Sharp, Eastwood and Jarvis are the way forward. They will be hungry and give everything to stay in the Premiership, if the worst then happens they should be useful in the Championship in a quest for promotion. Lets just be thankful for that day in Cardiff and enjoy the rest of the ride. Relegation is not the end of the world by any means (if it happens).
As Kevin Keegan once said " I would LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT" if the Hornets stayed up but I can't see it happening. I would love to be proved wrong and would eat seven Cornish pasties in one day if we stay up followed by drinking 7 JD& Cokes. Then passing out in a Yellow Daze. ;D ;D
Spot on Are another club likely to gamble on King after his recent antics? It should have been sorted in the summer, although that said, AB must have tried and failed.
The whole effort to bring him on the pitch on crutches was a farce. He didn't need them to walk from his car, round the ground, after the match and back to his car. Only to go on the pitch. Maybe he struggles to walk on grass but is ok on hard surfaces. Simpson would have been better off just keeping a low profile on it all.
