https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ned-25-positive-covid-19-cases-watford-clash/ 25 cases, how can the EFL have sanctioned this game to go ahead when they knew that the Rotherham squad / staff were likely compromised due to COVID. I truly hope all our players and staff are fine but should cases emerge at WFC as a result of the EFL sanctioning the game there should be repercussions. This could have the potential to derail the rest of the season. Hopefully I am over reacting but on the evidence published it does not look like the game should have been played.
Theoretically this could be handy if the squad has to isolate, then none of our players will be able to go on international duty and if they call off Saturday's match then we will be on an equal number of matches as Brentford and Swansea and still be second (assuming Swansea don't win 9-0)
Is this a bit of sensationalist reporting though? When did the tests take place? Were any of those 25 involved in any way? Either way, you have to feel for Rotherham, we played well, but looking at their defending, you have to wonder whether they were feeling under the weather still
Maybe it was sanctioned because of Rotherham's pile-up of fixtures. Unfair on them, but they're only little Rotherham (as we're only little Watford in some circles).
It doesn't look good from any aspect. Fingers crossed for all of our players and staff and that Rotherham don't have any more cases.
A) The players testing positive did not play. B) It would be very hard to catch Covid in a football match. C) If somehow both A and B both failed we seem to have a rigorous testing system in place which has avoided us having to shut down even during the peak. This was Rotherham’s problem, not ours.
It’s a contact sport, I don’t suppose it would be that hard. Plenty of examples of people having caught it from very, very fleeting contact, on surfaces, mail etc. If you were marking a player in a 90 minute game then I wouldn’t describe it as very unlikely you’d share the same air they’ve breathed out at any point. Agree with all the other points anyway though.
