I doubt being injured for a period in the season has helped... Different players get on with different managers. Most of our squad are probably the happiest they have been under Gracia!
You would have thought on paper Cathcart and Kabbs would be the strongest pairing, but it's a funny old game and Marriapa who was brought back to basically " make the tea" has played out of his skin, (or well enough at least) to have the longest run of his career in the Premier League! and relegate Britos, Kabbs, and Prodl behind him in the pecking order and send Wilmott and Zealgalar out on loan!
Prodl has given an interview to Kicker magazine in Germany... “If Gracia stays beyond this summer, and it looks like he will, I’ll have to think about how things will continue because my chances of playing won’t improve. I am not prepared to have my career ‘splattered’ like this.”
"Splattered"? Is something missing in translation? Not a word I'd use for a career defining moment. When the LTA launched Mini Tennis the little red, orange and green characters were named 'Splats'. Never thought I'd see the word used in a sporting context again.
Is he out of contract this summer? Probably the one person who misses Walter as during his reign was the only time he actually got a run of games. Fell out with Javi then got injured in his 2nd game under QSF and probably never going to be fit this season.
Being considered for Udinese http://sportwitness.co.uk/udinese-c...nd-window-another-potential-inter-pozzo-deal/
We're effectively just helping him start up his interior design business for when he retires. We definitely aren't paying him to play football and haven't been for a year or two now.
3 years now. Since his bumper 4 year contract extension at the age of 30: 2017/2018 - one appearance 2018/2019 - one appearance 2019/2020 - one appearance 2020/2021 - ?????
Well he did play then got injured , then played again and got injured! Another big example of our poor fitness and medical team ?
Ha! You are correct. Wikipedia stuffed me by having a duplicate line for 2018/2019. My memory of that season is him making a comeback under Silva against Swansea never to be seen again but I remember wrongly.
We will always have his turning around confused and shocked look when Welbz missed that open goal against us in the FA Cup. Iconic.
Great servant to the club......... is what his role should have been....serving in the staff canteen. Paying off his wages. He could even wear his silly lederhosen and baby papoose combo, make a theme of it. Would at least get a lot of instagram hits from the fashionista followers.
What's all that about then? Why did we not just transfer him in the window? Guessing we paid at least part of his contract up in the mutual agreement which, I guess, is his signing on fee for Udinese but sure we could have done something similar with a transfer. Still it's probably taken the last week to read his notes and do the medical so that probably explains it.
I guess he wasn't injured enough to fail the medical. Mind boggling we would release a CB at the moment.
Very strange decision to let him leave now rather than at the end of the season especially if he's fir to play in the next couple of weeks which having signed for Udinese for would think he will be.
I wonder whether there were personal reasons for his move to Udinese. I remember that he mentioned in a past interview that he had been affected by some personal issues. Udine is much closer to his family in the south of Austria. It still does not explain why Watford were prepared to let him go and leave themselves so short of fit defenders - especially if he was able to pass the medical at Udinese.
Maybe they have a better medical team at Udinese to get him fit quicker ?! Wouldn't be hard.. Or he just asked to leave ?
