When Wenger reaches the stage of talking positively about players on his club's official website I think we know he's serious. Granted he's not going in January but it's blatent that Arsenal will be in for him. Plus Ashley is well-known to be an Arsenal fan, so I'd say it was a done deal.

So what tag would you put on him? I'd say £4m myself (lets try to avoid the "but so and so cost such and such a club £25m so Ash must be worth at least £80m" talk and be a bit realistic if possible!)

Luckilly he doesn't want to go just yet. Wants to be a legend at Watford and happy with his two brothers here as well. I reckon we've got him for at least the whole season and certainly next if me stay up.

If he stays till the end of the season and we stay up i think you could at least double that figure.

If we go down the poachers will be in offering around £2 million , thinking that we will have no choice

£4 milloin is probably what he is worth if we sold him in Jan.

Lets hope we dont give in too easily like we did with barnsey all them years ago

If anyone offered £5m I would take it tomorrow (if the window was open).

There was a strong rumour of loans in Jan from Manure and as part of the deal Fungus had some form of option on Ashley. I would point out this is unestablished rumour, but it will be interesting to see if a couple arrive from there in Jan.

You could get either Carlos or jobi Mac for less than that in the current climate and still have money left over to bring in a n other.

But who would we get upfront?

Jan will see two new strikers, a buy plus a loan.

    I'd take £5M for Young.

    Edwards/McAnuff - £1.5 - £2M
    Earnshaw - £2M - £2.5
    Rossi - Loan till May

Stuff it, I'd ask Arsenal for someone in return too.

you're not answering my question jobr who would we get?. you say 2 forwards, have you got any in mind, cos its stupid to sell someone and have nobody else lined up.

How have i not answered your question?

we were talking about Young, I said i would take £5m, as i believe Aidy could get either Carlos or Jobi (who he likes the look of both) and have cash left over for another player.

Separate question you asked who would we get upfront.

I replied Jan will see two new strikers brought in to the club.

So i thought I had answered everything, if i have missed something then pray tell.

He's the lad on loan at brum. Danish if i'm not mistaken, he has scored some quality goals for them this year and has a future, from what i've seen anyway.

Makes me laugh how people thought i was crazy when i said I wouldn't sell Young for less than £5M halfway through last year

I see your putting the extra smileys on here to good use jobr :p

Correct Bendtner is Danish and extremely talented!

If we were presented with a deal worth £2,000,000 cash and Bendtner for Ash then i'd accept it! Bendtner will be a class act!

    Cheers for the explanation.

Knowing little Jimmys track history I had thought he had got all confused and was mixing his Arsenal and Charltons up.

I reckon Arsenal will pay up to £6.5m, if we negotiate well.

Nicholas Bendtner is the Arsenal kid on loan to Birmingham this season. No idea if he is any good but perhaps a young unproven player we would need, certainly in Jan. Next season maybe depending on other players brought in.

For Young now, £5m I would think is about right.
