    Rules
Each week we'll post 5 matches. It may contain midweek matches, will contain all WFC matches and a week runs from Saturday to Friday.
You need to predict the score for each match.
You'll have until KO of the first match that week to make your predictions. Be warned some might be Friday Kickoffs but normally a week will start on a saturday.

    Points are awarded as follows:

10 points for predicting the correct score
If you don't get the right score but get the correct result you'll get 5 points
If you don't get the right score or result you'll get a bonus 2 points (total) if you correctly predicted either team's number of goals.

So there's a maximum of 50 points per week.

No entry, no points for that week, gonna be tough on this to reward the people that put the effort in.
We will take your first entry each week only, any subsequent entries will be ignored.

To sign up for the comp just place your entry in the week 1 thread. You can sign up any time during the season but obviously starting at week 1 give you an advantage over late starters.

Entries must be in the following format any deviation from the format is a pain in the arse for whoever enters the scores so if they're in a bad mood they might cancel your entry.

Match 1 Home team score-Away team score
Match 2 Home team score-Away team score
Match 3 Home team score-Away team score
Match 4 Home team score-Away team score
Match 5 Home team score-Away team score

    Here is an example

    1-0
    2-1
    3-0
    2-1
    1-0

Just the scores, no spaces no other characters no club names or anything else please.

If it doubt see the first entry in the week 1 thread and follow that format.

Please keep the entry thread for entries only. Any queries or questions should be in replies to this post.

Would it be an issue if the games were copied into each post as well? Not next to the scores obviously as that would affect the way you guys put them into your table, but above or below, i.e.

    Watford v Man Utd
    Chelsea v Norwich
    West Brom v Arsenal
    Swansea v Bournemouth
    Man City v Liverpool

    10-0
    2-1
    1-3
    2-1
    3-1

When you get to the bottom of the first page or the second, third, etc pages, you have to remember the ties in the right order or copy them somewhere. If everyone posted the ties in their thread before they post the scores, then you could just look at the previous post to get them.

It may just be me that struggles, but this would be useful.

I copy and paste them onto my post then delete the teams after making my predictions.

As do I, in a slightly different fashion. I reply with quote and then delete.

    Yeah, these alternatives are fine.

I guess the main problem is looking at other peoples predictions and having to remember what the fixtures were.

TVORs method is the best and the one I use,

The issue is when you're entering 30 or so sets of figures in one go every extra line of text takes extra time to navigate. Anything other than predictions slows the whole process down.
Any extra characters over an above the format single digit homescore-single digit awayscore will throw out the spreadsheet calculations so generally it's best to just type 5 sets of figures. It was the intention to copy and paste to speed up the process and eliminate typos but the forum tends to stick random space characters in which causes these issues.

Next year it might be worth piggy backing off of Sky's soccer 6 system. That way people can do their own entries.

That's fair enough. It's only a minor issue scrolling back and forth. I could always stop being lazy and write them down!

Or open two windows and split screen it. I run 3 monitors so not really an issue for me.:]]

I run 2 at work so not really an issue there. Only a crappy laptop at home though.

Can a small change to the rules be made?

These are OK but if you predict 1-0 and it finished 2-0 you only get 5, effectively someone could predict 6-2 and get the same points, so in the case of getting the result right and either of the teams' goals right or the margin you should get a bonus point:

    e.g. Result 3-1

    Predition 1-0 = 5 points
    Predition 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-2, 4-2, 5-3, etc. = 6 points
    Predition 4-0, 4-1 = 5 points

To change the scoring is a massive ballache on the spreadsheet.

Think of it as 10 points for a completely correct prediction including both scores.
5 points for getting the result right.
a bonus of 2 points if either teams score is correctly predicted if the result went against your prediction.

I think this fairly rewards accuracy.

I need to know if you guys running this are officially including week 18 which gave a day and a bit to predict and seems to have been missed by a fair few of us due to being away, (myself included). Surely over holiday periods we need MORE time to notice these threads, not less.

If you are then I'd appreciate a separate prediction thread for those who didn't make this one so we at least have a chance to make up the points.
