According to a few papers today, we're interested. I wonder if there's word going around the club that we are looking to replace Gomes in the summer. Or whether the press, are looking at Gomes age and putting 2 and 2 together...

 

Liverpool and Man City desperately need a keeper so I would have thought they are more likely to sign him.

I think the fact we tried to buy Begovic and offered Gomes as part of the deal says we are looking to upgrade. Shame though as I like Gomes

Quite, he's been excellent. He's 36 though so we're going to need a quality replacement soon-ish

 

I can't quite imagine us signing a player who was nominated for the last Ballon d'Or... surely he'd sign for a club in the Champion's League, or at least Europa?!

 

Or a team whose owners can convince him that's where they want their team to be going, and they want him to be there with them.

 

We really must stop saying that players are too good for us, after all we are a PL team with ambition, and there is no reason why we cannot match other teams in the wages stakes if we really want to.

This guy seems like he would be a great signing, but I really hope all this speculation about GK's is not unsettling Gomes. Hopefully he is being pragmatic about it, and if we do bring in someone else I would love it if he was willing to consider staying on as our No2, or at least happy to have someone fighting for his No1 slot.

Haven't been this excited about a potential new signing since Scott Hogan. Hopefully this one doesn't end in heartbreak.

 

Gomes knows he should stay as its guaranteed that any new signing either falls out with Deeney, gets a seriously bad injury or the new manager doesn't rate him. Gomes will be #1 again by end of August.

yeah, but the premier league has 3 leagues within it tbh. The 2nd league (with us at the bottom!) comprises of 8-10 teams with perhaps 2 making it into the Europa League playoffs.
