I hope not as he was really good out wide, but I guess it makes sense squad wise.

Richie and the new guy on the left, Deleufou and Success on the right. Plus penandyrandy is supposed to be around this season.

He won't get in the centre ahead of our wealth of CM talent.

Quality player, just about the best of them last season, but possibly a bit of a square peg in a round hole, who is worth significantly more than we paid for him

You always get the feeling there's more to come from him, so much talent and can create something or change a game at a blink. I just wish he dominated games more

He hasn't looked fully fit since his injury and definitely dodges a tackle now

  5. Steve Leo Beleck

    Steve Leo Beleck Squad Player

Very talented but just unable to consistently impose himself on a game, hence why he was more suited to playing out wide than centrally.

Comparing his attitude to Hughes who always wants the ball and is always looking to get involved - Pereyra seemed to wait for the game to come to him and if it didn't, that was that. Think he's just not suited to the Premier League.

I hope he stays. I felt he was just getting over his injuries and getting fully fit. Would be excellent next season.

Agree. Just getting back into his stride at the end of last season. One of our most gifted players with first class football brain. Really hope he does not go. It would stick in my throat if he ends up with Mazzari but I suppose we will have to trust Gino on this one.

I'll actually be really ******* annoyed if Pereyra is suddenly binned off, to me it would seem like a regressive step.

Could well be him wanting to go. I never felt he wanted to be here long term

I’d be gutted if we he went. For me (and I’m sure for many) he was our first wow player. He signed in my birdthay and I was truly shocked that we were signing a player of his calibre.

He was scoring for fun at the end of the season and looked like he was just coming good with us. Even if he’s not in our first choice midfield what are the actual odds of our entire midfield staying fit all season? I’d say about 100/1.

Having said that I guess this is the actual Pozzo model in action, although the model has only really actually been excercised once since they’ve owned us when they sold Ighalo. The model seems to have changed somewhat with us in the prem, not worth selling a player for profit if they add to the team and will help to move us forward and keep us in the league.

Could this be another "injury prone" based decision? As we do seem to have quite a few players who are quite injury prone and Pereyra is one of them.

Maybe our new head of medical has been reveiwing all of our players fittness situations and made some reccomendations as to those he considers too much of a liability injury wise? Janmatt is another player who we seem to be ready to off load that springs to mind. He is another talented player who our head of medical might think is not viable to the squad because of his overall injury record.

It's just a theory, but it could explain our readiness to off load two otherwise very talented players.

    What do you guys think?

I suppose the Pozzo model is really to get undiscovered young players with bags of potential for modest fees. They are then loaned out or developed for sale at maximum profit. I agree that Ighalo was an exception but older established players tend to garner smaller profits. They seem to know what they are doing.

Will believe it when it happens. Its been reported on a website that frankly gets about as many things correct as a flip of the coin.

I don't think they will sell him, he is an important player to us.

  16. TomH

    TomH First Year Pro

I wouldn't be against selling him as he has missed too many matches and not hit his full potential in plenty too. When he has had a run of games and shown what he can do he's easily one of our best and classiest players, if we got someone less injury prone and more consistant even if their level isn't quite as high it could be worth trading him in.

  17. UEA_Hornet

    UEA_Hornet First Team Captain

Is he really that injury prone? He missed 5 games before Christmas last year and only one afterwards. He started 18 matches and came off the bench in 14.

I think there's definitely question about how much he's recovered from his knee injury. But the injuries last season were hardly unusual, coming during the period he was playing his way back to match fitness.

Maybe it's just my perception but I feel like he's not been available more often thanhe has but like I say that could just be my perception because I do see him as a key player so probably take more notice when he's left out. If we could be confident he could start most games a season then absolutely keep him but if there are concerns about his fitness and he wanted a fresh start back in Italy then I think we could use the money from him wisely elsewhere.

He looked one of the players most happy to be back in pre-season training in the club's video.

This would be a big disappointment if true, he's probably our second best player after Doucoure and our only one with real composure and good decision making in the final third. We can only play one player per position at a time, so it will be a negative if it turns out we're doing what appears to be replacing him with three lesser quality players. I'd much rather we sold Richie.

I would be sorry to see him go as he does have time and vision.
I do fear for him though, as others have said, with the somewhat industrial nature of our league.

You never know though. His family may have preferred life in Italy?

The only club in for him has been Torino. Obviously his last club there is in the same city, so I believe its a move manufactured by him

He does look happy in the preseason videos. He’s also very popular with his fellow players according to the “team mates” videos. I’d like him to stay. He has a lot of talent and showed some great skills last season. He also took his goals well - the Chelsea one was a standout for me.

Would be hugely disappointed to see him leave as after Christmas and certainly the last 10 games he seemed to be fully fit and he is probably the best player at spotting a pass. I do seem to think that his family are not living here though and are still in Italy so may be a reason for him leaving. Hope not though

I would be disappointed if he goes but at the same time it’s hard to see how we can accommodate Chalobah, Hughes, Doucouré, Deuloféu, Richarlison, Capoué and Cleverley into a midfield and keep them all happy before we even bring in new players and there is an argument that almost all of those offer attributes worthy of a starting place. If good money is attained and allows us to strengthen elsewhere then so be it. Our total spend so far would pretty much be covered by his sale alone which is needed to remain in a sensible financial position, albeit I would probably shift a couple of others in his place.

Agreed the finish against Chelsea was class. We don't have a player capable of this other than him. Never panics in front of goal. Almost passes the ball into the net. You can not get better or anything close to him for an estimated 20m. JG was getting the best out of him and we look a far better balanced team with him in it.

There seems to be a lot of confusion over the Pozzo model due to how it worked for Udinese.

Granted it’s working for us with Doucoure and potentially Richarlison. But we have signed far more players who don’t fit this idea of the ‘Pozzo model’. Always buying old GK’s, older defenders etc.

Competition for places is a good thing. Look how many were out injured or under performing last season. If they're not happy about playing then they should be training harder to get in the starting line up.

be stupid to sell for me, he's our most talented player and the only one we have in the final third with that real touch of quality. Give him a half decent striker and you would see his productivity shoot up. Also was by far our best player under Gracia last season, and Gracia is here this season so why not keep his best player.

Torino's record signing is £5m, you'd have to be more than a bit ******* simple to give this rumour any credence whatsoever, which is borne out by the identities of those who have.

I know this is nonsense, because I heard it on my private jet, flying into Leavesden, to discuss the offer I've received to be the next Bond girl.
