40/50 mill doesn't matter, we're still pulling they're pants down.

Point being that although Rich undoubtedly has a lot of potential, he's been ***** since before Christmas.

Also why should Gray be given the chance? Especially if we can get better in.

  4. Gray and Deeney didn't suddenly become decent over the summer

If the plan is Success or Peneranda or someone else so be it, but I expect a new striker to arrive before the window closes because there is such an obvious need

Correct so we can't assume that £50m has been offered for Richie. Esp when what is reported is lower than that sum.

Once again, this is selective memory. We all know he went off the boil. But he scored 5 in his first 12 games. If he could have kept that up, it’s a great strike-rate. When he started the season, pretty much to a man, we were all raving about him. No one was saying he ‘couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo’ then.

But the opposite of that is also true. We can’t assume it’s just £35m either. And it’s been equally reported that it’s been £50m. Your point works both ways.

Of course you do. Sincerest apologies

  12. A lot of quibbling about how much. TBH I'd have snapped somebodies arm off at £25m based on last season. Let's face it, the sums being talked about would only have been achieved after a breakout season which was a long way from guaranteed. Mahrez was only £60m for god's sake. £35, 44, 50m for 8 good games and an attitude?

Yes new doesn't equate to better though :p

Daily Fail reported 44mill, anywhere between 40-50 is good business imo.

I'm not bothered about the misses, that's part of football. What did bother me was he couldn't beat his man and never looked like he could.

I am sure Richarlison will kick on this year. I will miss him. But let's speculate that he scores 15 goals next season. At £35 million I think that's still a very good deal for us and not earth shattering great value for Everton. If he does much better than that, no doubt he will be sold on to a bigger club as mega offers will be made for him. No doubt we have a sell on clause. Either way it's good business for us, because his drop off in form meant that last season we did not rely on him in the way Crystal Palace relied on and would mis Zaha. I expect the season has been planned on the assumption he was leaving. The Delofeu signing indicates that to me. I am sure we think Everton will pay more than anyone else and the risk is his value is based on Silva wanting him and his reputation based on performances for less than a third of one season. Another average season in and out the team and his value drops.

Even during his hot streak, his goals didn’t exactly look like the work of an extremely talented footballer.

Bournemouth away: Great commitment to throw himself at the ball, but a scrappy goal.
Swansea away: Awful touch almost ruined the chance, then almost contrived to miss the one-on-one. Got to see his nipples though.
West Brom away: Good leap, brave header, great moment
Everton away: His best goal, imo. Only time he’s looked calm in front of goal, rounds the keeper and scores.
West Ham home: Decent power on the strike, but Hart should save.

I think he’ll get better as he matures and adds more sides to his game, but I’d be surprised if he’s ever worth more than £50m. Technically I think he’s lacking, his touch is often heavy, but he saves himself often with his determination and strength.

I wish people would stop judging performance solely in terms of goals scored. That should be reserved only for pure goal scorers in the Lineker mould. If Richarlison scores 15 goals from the wing for Everton, that would be a fantastic return for them. Are we expecting that many from Deulofeu, for instance?

Any compensation has to be agreed separately or Fluminese will get 10% of that as well.

This Everton fan wrote this yesterday for his publication called Royal Blue Mersey. He seems to think the deal is worth £50mil also.

“In effect this is two transfer deals in one, with Richarlison valued at £35m and Silva £15m, fees that seem much more realistic, even in today’s inflated market.”

Makes sense but flies in the face of what is being reported.

EFC would have to write off the cost of any compensation through the P&L account and the higher that figure, the greater the embarrassment. The price paid for Richie can be capitalised and written off over the contract period and is considered an investment. It might be that the owner is insisting that the compensation figure is zero or minimal and the player cost inflated to compensate despite the 10% additional cost. Higher cost of player purchases also makes the owner look good as it appears he is funding a higher transfer budget.

    That it was :D

  33. I seem to recall also compensation has specific tax rules, there used to be a tax free threshold, which would benefit Watford having separate transactions

There are a couple of accountants on here can probably answer that one

    I feel sorry for Walsall.

One year on and Fluminese pocket close on £3m?

Poor Walsall have been waiting for years for the now non existent sell on windfall (20%?) for Deeney.

I read their forum last year when at last it looked like the Baggies were signing him and they were debating how to use the windfall £million(s).
We’ll end up selling Troy in 2 years for under £1m and they’ll end up with about £50k :p

I know people are tired of hearing it but what is so remarkable is without the Pozzos we could now be one of the Walsall’s of this hard world.

    Look how far ..... etc

With regards to Richie’s early goal scoring form, we saw Capoue do exactly the same thing the season before last, and Docoure did it last season too. Lots of players have purple patches but they are rarely sustainable, when Capoue scored 5 in 5 did anybody seriously think he would continue to score every game for the rest of the season?

The truth with Richy is probably somwhere I’m the middle, you can’t judge him by his early purple patch, but if I was an Everton fan I’d be concerned that his crap spell lasted way longer!
