Been looking at the teams around us and their remaining fixtures. On paper, Palace look like the only team to pick up a win. If we can get a point against United next week, and everyone around us (bar Palace) loses, we would finish 11th. Wouldn’t be a bad season after all.
Wow.....what a cruel blow to Southampton. 1 minute over the allotted 4 minutes. A 95th minute shot deflected into the net. Last kick of the match.
Which would only be a place lower than when Silva went lol Personally I don’t think we will ever get a better chance to do something at Old Trafford. They’ve only kept two clean sheets in ten, are focussed on the cup final and Lukaku might be missing. They were poor last night. Sooner or later we have to score away. Don’t we?!
Grays scored at a rate of 1 every 3 games, so ******* **** is harsh, unless we get a points deduction for his bad first touch.
Well Southampton will be looking at a couple of key referee decisions if they go down! Mind you we should have had 2 penalties before the handball equaliser and well its a minimum amount of injury time...
I agree. If our players can be bothered and actually put the effort in like they did today in the first 45mins but for 90mins, we could easily come away with a point, maybe all 3. Mourinho has opened his mouth about the fringe players yesterday, that wouldn’t have gone down well with them. It is perfectly set up for us to finish 11th, it’s just whether or not our lot can be bothered.
And with that Everton goal, even had we lost today we'd have been ok. There is a reason Southampton are in the bottom 4. The match on Tuesday is now like a play off match. I also said if we lost to Hudders and it sent a biggish team down (I thought palace) then I wouldn't be so bitter.
Yeah you sure “called it” didn’t you? Just be a man and admit that your 3 weeks of fretting with lengthy posts have been a waste of time. We’ve stayed up comfortably as numerous people tried to explain to you. But you won’t learn because you never do so we will have the same tiresome drawn out exercise next season.
...and the gloating begins. You will never learn to be humble. I thought we'd survive, but we got relegated......damn, I thought we actually mathematically safe after today. I must look at the league table. Hang on...I just checked....WE ARE SAFE!!......did you confuse us with Stoke?
I await your nonsense in next season’s relegation thread when you butcher probability like a wild animal that has come across a drum kit.
Ok Mr Gloaty from I Told You So Avenue, Gloatville. The probability of you continuing to be Mr Gloaty next season is 100%.
I'd still like one point at man Utd, rather than have to hope results go in our favour. It's worrying that the teams below are all picking up points and have games in hand, it's gonna be close, but i think we'll stay up. Possibly on goal difference.
Well maybe Ryan Bertrand will learn to just clear his lines rather than pass the ball straight to the opposition just outside the penalty area in future ...
Been thinking and if you take out the fa cup I'd argue this is a more successful season than QSF. Back then we relied heavily on one striker for goals this year it's been more balanced. Also, we may not get the same number of points but lets not forget some had concerns about relegation based on second half of that season (especially when we were losing to Aston Villa at home). Ultimately, whilst we threw away games this season at least we got ourselves in to winning positions. When we were on top in matches we'd look good, it was just stupid errors that cost us. Frustrating yes, but not awful. I think mathematical safety was achieved earlier last year but few can say it was better than this year (and again people thought we'd go down)
An absolutely vital win for our survival hopes today, although I’m still not counting my chickens. If we had lost we would have been in a position where if both Swansea and Southampton won their final two games we could really have been pulled into trouble.
One of their two games is against each other (on Tuesday) so they couldn’t have both got 6 points and hence we were safe on 38 points.
ummm, well anyway, as has been pointed out, quite a lot lately, football is a funny old game. I for one won't feel safe till I see next season's fixture list.
QSF was incredibly lucky. I think without Iggy we'd have gone straight back down, with similar results to Karanka last year at Boro.
Plus he had almost no injuries. I know that we've had better players in the subsequent years, but with our injury lists since, he'd have really struggled to keep us up if he'd have carried on
.....& yet, it turns out, the joke's on me - & Savage, his co-host & everyone else who thought that West Brom fan was barmy! I know it's still unlikely but bravo to West Brom for their recent Herculean effort to pull off the great escape.
I think we are as good as down next season. As things stand, I really can't see where 40 points are going to come from.
