Yeah, fairplay, I mostly agree, especially in terms of being far more pleased by the way we play and our general performances. Under Walter there was pretty much never any obvious way we were intending to play, and became increasingly dirge like week after week.

I think the early performances raised expectations, which is why it's so annoying now, but they do in fairness show that we should be and are capable of performing at a higher capacity than in recent times. There's also this feeling of repetition, of a sort of groundhog day. All these things are somewhat ethereal, and can only be influenced to a certain degree, but added together they can't help but have an impact on the mood.

I like the way of thinking "think how good we could be", and you're right, we should keep that in our minds, but I do also feel that at the moment, we have to engage with the situation we find ourselves in, where there are problems that actually are having an tangible effect on results, even if, ludicrously enough, not so much always on performances. We all know how fine the margins are in this division.

As frustrating a position as it is to be in, I do believe that this year, the business we do in January will hugely define the season as a whole, and whether it goes down as another disappointing damp squib after such early promise, or whether we come somewhere near fulfilling our potential.

And in next months football headline...

    Watford sack Silva.

Won’t happen and don’t really want it to happen but it’s not totally unrealistic.

Just think of the media reaction - even more so after rejecting 10 million for Silva the other month!

So Swansea have had 6 managers in 2 years or so...Palace probably about the same.

And they accuse the Pozzos of being trigger happy..!?

Most bookies still have us at 33/1, perhaps a way to ease the pain if it does happen!

I back us every year to hopefully stop it happening. I've backed them at 66/1 to be relegated but I hope I am not collecting in May.

8 points off the relegation places

Don't have a striker who can score goals

Can't defend to save our lives and the goalkeeper has at least 1 or 2 blunders in him every game

Midfield strong on paper but constantly disrupted by injury, suspension or both

Can't see where the next win is coming from

    We are looking dire

We're a little bit in free fall now. The sh**ness of other teams may still yet save us though.

This is the key bit. Home, away, ahead, behind, 4 at the back, 3 at the back, Gray, Deeney....none of it seems to have any impact. Confidence couldn't be lower. Injuries and ill-discipline off the charts. It's a recipe for final day relegation.v

Leicester will be all fluffed up and chirpy after that last gasp equaliser v MU.
Not sure how MU didn't win, but even without a recognised right back, I can't see how we can beat Leicester at the moment.

Forget Leicester, we're miles off a team that will cause them any problems. The big game for us is Swansea. That IS a must win game.

We need to get those points against Swansea, just to keep the wolf from the door. Our GD will take a big hit at City and the early FA Cup exit against another City could be a blessing.

Southampton at home is the game I've identified were we can get our season back on track. Hopefully we'll have a couple of good signings plus a couple returning from injury by then.

Time to bump this thread I think. Five points from the relegation spots now, a couple of teams below us looking like they're getting their act together. There is still some real dross between us and the relegation zone but are we the drossiest of the dross at the moment?

I’d say Newcastle, Stoke, West Brom and Swansea may well be at least as bad us us, even though we’ve lost to two of them.

Perhaps time for the Pozzos to rethink now. This is getting very serious. Either a big transfer window or a change in coach possibly

Rafa will keep Newcastle up. Mark Hughes is looking desperate - and Stoke don't know what to do about it, and we play them in a few weeks. Pardew has yet to work his magic, and only favours are going to give Swansea points at the moment.

Two CB, a left back, a Chalobah replacement, a goalie and a striker. We are waiting in hope for our long termed injured to come back. Whenever that is they will take a while to get fit. Will they turn out to be duds as perayra has become since his injury?

I don’t know who would replace Silva but if it’s true that Duxbury stormed out. After the Swansea game I bet they have got someone in the wings to take over. Anyway that’s for them to work out but I think things are getting a bit serious for the owners now. They don’t want to leave the cash cow that is the PL and it is looking a very real possibility if this form continues. This is a Mazzari situation all over again.

I agree with your sentiment but it's not quite as easy as reeling off positions and nipping into Waitrose.
Everyone is fighting for talent from a limited pool of players. We know that the top players won't come to us or any team from 6th downwards.
Let's hope the signings are lined up and ready to go and the injured are on their way back. We know how much we have missed Kiko,Kaboul and Chalobah.
I'm sure Gino is every bit as concerned as we are, more so given that it's his cash!
Keep positive,I'm trying very hard to!

It seems to me Kaboul is getting to be a better and better player the longer he is out injured! I don’t remember him being this popular when he was fit.

I appreciate this and agree that in the end we may get some in with talent but not the attitude ( hence why they aren’t picked by the top 6). I have no confidence in the back room medics to bring those players back from injury. Hughes was a possibility to come back at possibly Brighton but he’s still out! How is this rot going to stop? I just don’t know. Oh well!
