Realistic Possible Loan Signings

If we are as hard up as many say we are, maybe we should be looking at the loan market to sign the strikers we so desperately need.

I have not really done a lot of research on who might be available as yet, but I will post my thoughts on here soon.

In the mean time one that springs to mind is Joe Willock who is currently on loan at Newcastle from his parent club Arsenal. As I said I'll give it some more thought and come up with more later.

    What do you guys think?

Good thread, but I’ve never heard of the bloke in the title. Which club did we send him to?

Abraham or Martinelli. Am I doing this right?

Don't forget who we can recall too. We should get Hoggy back effing pronto.

I think your point is “oh here are two outlandish and unrealistic loan possibilities.” Abraham obviously will not be available for loan - he’ll go to another PL side for £40m. Martinelli on the other hand...still young, hasn’t really kicked on, not really getting minutes (and unlikely to see more should Arsenal not qualify for the Europa League) and with limited resale value at present. Would make a lot of sense for Arsenal to loan him out. Maybe an unlikely one but not one as obviously implausible as Abraham.

By the way the prefix I've used in the title is not ideal, but the site would not let me post the thread without using one of the prefixes from their list. Personally I would not have used a prefix, why does the system insist that one is used Mods?

By the way I'm wondering if Eddie Nketiah might be available on loan as he is getting very little playing time at Arsenal and would certainly get the playing time he probably needs to kick his career on with us.

Not sure I agree with the assessment that Martinelli hasn’t kicked on or is unlikely to get more minutes next season. The fans are already calling for it, there’s big question marks about whether Lacazette will stay and Aubameyang will be another year older.
Arteta hasn’t used Martinelli much but there’s signals that he will for sure.

I’d be very very surprised if Arsenal let him go anywhere at all.

Maybe. I suppose it depends on which of the senior players they manage to shift. But as a CF they have Lacazette, Aubameyang, and Balogun (assuming Nketiah is sold) all ahead of him. For LW, they have Aubameyang and Saka both established ahead of him. Without the Europa League, that’s not many opportunities. If the move Aubameyang on, however, that’s suddenly a very different landscape.

Arteta also often has odd views on players. They loaned Saliba to Nice and kept Rob Holding around. The prospect of loaning Saliba (who they acquired for £30m+) would have seemed outlandish given both his fee and Arsenal’s obvious defensive frailty, and yet off he went.

It’s an unlikely loan target for sure. But I don’t think the same degree of outlandishness as Abraham.

Reckon Nketiah gets sold for £20m or so this summer. Not in Arsenal’s current of future plans. Don’t think he’s stylistically right for us though as doesn’t offer enough in build up.

A couple of the loanees at the relegated sides might be available on loan (or even on permanent) deals:
Maitland-Niles, Yokuslu and Gallagher and WBA
    Ampadu at Sheff Utd
Areola and Lookman at Fulham (both of these players will probably be sold for fees to large for us).

Well I agree that it’s not as unlikely as Abraham - but that’s because I think there’s zero percent of him. Whereas Martinelli I’d put at 0-5%.

I don’t think he’s behind Balogun as he hasn’t even kicked a ball. And I think Martinelli hasn’t played as much due to his injuries - I suspect there’s an element that Arsenal are being careful with him. I’d honestly go as far as saying he’ll be in a handful of players Arsenal won’t sell whatsoever.

More chance of Nketiah or Balogun on loan.

Balogun hasn't been played I reckon largely because of the contract dispute but he has just signed a new deal. Maybe they'll loan him out now that Arsenal have secured his long-term future. But media reports seem to suggest Nketiah will be sold and he only has one year left on his contract. I saw that Martinelli was injured, but could well be that he is more valued there than I had anticipated.

Martinelli is a fan favourite who all the fans I know are constantly screaming for playing time for, and expressing happiness with his impact when he does get them.

He was out injured for the first 13 games of the season, and he's got minutes varying between nine and 90 in each of their last six league games (two of which were 90, another 83). He's also featured in each of their last four Europa League matches.

I can't see the winds blowing any way at Arsenal other than him having more of an impact and being considered a more important player there next season.

Yokuslu has done really well, and at 29 might not be quite as expensive as the others. Dunno if he fancies a second successive relegation fight though

De Paul is being classed in the 40m bracket. I know he’s at Udinese but I can’t see him being loaned here. I think they’d just hand him to us and say it cost X millions.

Fair few rumours that Spurs are planning a bit of an overhaul and Sessegnon and Oliver Skipp will be pushed toward starting berths next season.

    Eric Lamela?

I agree. Loaning 'quality' with a view to permanently signing if we stay up, seems sensible.

Hopefully we can pick up some players who want to play their way into international contention for the 2022 WC.

We made enquirers about him a couple of seasons ago, but Muff told us to go away. It wouldn't surprise me too much if we were still interested in him, although I'd rather we looked elsewhere.

Not sure that's a good thing really - Sierralta looked more shaky on the right in his last game compared to his usual games as the left CB. It could also in part have been due to having a different partner/being hungover/tricky opposition, but it's something worth considering.

Yeah most of the players being suggested in this thread in general are ones that clubs will be looking to sell rather than loan out.

I don't think Ampadu and Gallagher are of the quality we should be aiming for either - they've not made much of an impact in relegated sides.
