It was quoted during the week in one of the freebie London newspapers the Ray Parlour wants a move away (6 months left on contract so will probably let go free) to get regular footy. Has stated that he will only move to a London club to be nearer his kids. We're nearish London, wages may be an issue but worth a punt maybe? I think his expereince would be usefull and he could play a part in the team. What does everyone think?
I think he would be a good signing to be honest, he has got bags of expereince which would benifit the club and team.
Isn't it Ray Parlours wife who got that record divorce settlement based on his FUTURE earnings? I'm sure it was. We definately can't afford his ex-wife!
yea.... but maybe he would take a pay cut to screw her over.... he would only have to pay a percentage of his earnings above what he needs to survive in the lifestyle to which he is accustomed so if he earnt £5000 a week lets say she would only get about £1500 of that.. maybe he would do it... maybe he wouldnt.
he isn't the type of player we need. gavin mahon can do what he does just as good. wud bring experience though
No matter how good Gav is you cant argue with parlours quality, he has experience in prem football by the bucket load and still a good couple of years left in him at least. Given the choice i know who i would rather see.
I think he is too old and not any better than Gav now. He would add strength to the squad, but at what price?
wouldnt be such a bad thing... and he is likely to take a pay cut to screw her over.. but his age could be a problem.
Aidy loves youth and devolping players. yes we need a couple of older wiser heads etc. But we don't want to end up like Dads Army.
Nothing to say that he wouldnt be able to bring that to the game still... but at that age he would be more prone to injury. When you think of players like Zinedine Zidane he was still very dangerous and could move around the field as good if not better than younger players when he was that age... and i think his experience would be helpful.
not comparing parlour to zidane are you? my point is i dont think he has anything like as much to offer now otherwise he would be getting regular games in an average middlesbrough side.
God no.. noone could mirror zidane.. the point i am trying to make is that with age doesnt have to come slowness. I am not saying he is the answer to our prayers by any means but i think his experience would come in handy in the dressing room and on the pitch.
i understand your point wfc, but my point is that surely if he was half as effective as he used to be he wouldnt be struggling to get first team starts in a pretty ineffective middlesbrough team dont you think? i suppose he could cut up the oranges at half time to provide some experience in the dressing room.
I think Charlie Dimmock would be well worth a shot, my only concern would be the lack of 1st team football he has been playing.
Parlour being linked with us again... http://www.fansfc.com/frontpage/frontpagenews.asp?newsid=161841
ray-ray parlour?! what a player. Second only to okocha in terms of outrageous skill. Sign him up i say. But then thats to be expected considering they are brothers.
