Top post. Given the 25 man squad requirement even loan signings would have meant pushing others out into limbo, leaving us paying them for nothing. Might just have been justifiable with Okaka if we could have found another striker but everyone else is useful to some extent.

I actually can't believe we didn't sign a Center Back... We were all screaming for once since the Summer and yet, we are here with the same lot who are either struggling to keep fit or struggling to even defend.

Left Back was a must-buy too... We got no-one... We will now have to rely on Holebas who is now 33 and is preparing to become an MMA fighter

Striker is thee most important asset to keeping us up... We needed someone who is prolific and can bang in goals at least 1 every 2 games... We are now relying on Jerome Sinclair ffs.

That said, I am very pleased we brought in another winger because ours are looking absolutely knackered - bit odd as to why they didnt keep Success in to cover for the left though.

N'Dong can't be that bad. I don't know yet but I for one am quite pleased that we have a capable backup (if need be). If he turns out to be poo, it wont matter because we dont have to buy him.

Don't know much about that other fella (cant even spell his name), but he is young and Anderlecht fans seemed to like him so it could be hit or miss with him - In a way, it is quite a similar signing to when we first got Doucoure and Oulare

I think the return of the injured players will act as a form of new signings, and I can't wait to see my 'fave' Kiko return to boss the right flank with GD. Really want Hughes back soon too

Been a weird window, Delofeu is a good acquisition and Lukebakio looks a prospect. Ndong is a solid back up for Doucoure. Really happy with Dahlberg, looks top class playing wise and a Batman villain facially. We did need a new left back and a confident striker but our pot didn't stretch that far as they appear to be the hardest positions to recruit for in football.

We could have got Slimani or Gabbiadini in on loan if we'd really tried

Slimani possibly but why would Southampton loan a rival a player?

  6. UEA_Hornet

I doubt Slimani would have come here now his long distance admirer has been binned.

1 star. Deulofeu is good, that's the only positive I can see.

Its easy to forget that we have good players here already. If Gracia can get Prodl back to form, then we might be OK. Cleverley getting injured is a huge blow though, one more injury to any position and we're stuffed.

Sky sports panel weren't really rating Slimani last night. Said may get a couple of goals but won't be enough to save Newcastle alone.

I think the Pozzos have to take some blame, but in a less direct way.

The way they hire managers who tend to alternate between preferences between 352 and 4 at the back, means that we keep having good full backs when we need wing backs (i.e. Nyom), or good wing backs when we need full backs (Janmaat/ Holebas).

We are in desperate need of full backs.

Very poor window. The biggest problem is the fact that more or less all the teams around us have done much better business.

I think it is now only fifty fifty whether we go down.

Well, he wasn't actually used at all, was he. Literally given half an hour against Burnley and that is the sum total. Another Wally move.

wasnt he injured most of the time he was with us? I might be wrong like.

Yeah, it's true, he got injured and eventually called back early. Got given 15 minutes in the 4 games he was available.

2/5. The signings made are fine in themselves but we really needed 2-3 players to slot into the first 11 and strengthen weaknesses. They didn't need to be £25m megastars, just solid and competant, even on a loan basis. We got one but are left with a lack of goals up front and 2 **** LBs ! Its a gamble.

I know, and now we're seemingly lumbered with them. I assumed they would do the decent thing and let Holebas' contract run down, but we've inexplicably extended it.

Zeegelaar will go on loan in the summer, and god knows what we do with Janmaat considering we paid £6m for him

Personally i see the January window as sticking plaster signings to get you through. Most of the work should be done in the spring and summer. For avoiding Afobe and Slimani i will give it three.

He played 19 out of 24 games this season, despite falling out with the coach, hardly struggling to get a game. Success has made two league starts in one and a half seasons so I can completely understand shipping him out, especially with his off the field antics and fitness problems. New guy might turn out to be rubbish but Success has scored one goal and won one penalty the whole time he's been here.

You're right, thought he hadn't played that often this season.

Still, given the choice between the two, I'd rather have the one with 70 odd appearances in two of the world's best leagues. Its an odd trade in my opinion, especially since Lukebakio has been labelled as disruptive as well

He will probably be a carbon copy of Capoue and will do the most amount of mileage of any of our players, but only away from the ball or as an attempt to recover from a poor starting position. Fans will alternate between calling him lazy, and screaming 'oh **** off Amrabat'.

I gave it a 2, feel there must be some defensive options would could have loaned in to shore things up, A Callum Chambers type CB or any Full back better than Janmaat/Zeegalaar/Holebas, lets face it even taking into account the injuries we haven't strengthened the back line since the first season with QSF

I'd say this is a great assessment and echoes how I've seen it. In the summer you replace those leaving or those you can move on. Wages and transfer budget must be tight as it stands.

I reckon you lot should lay off. We’ve bought well and we’ll now easily demolish clubs like Chelsea.
