"all the same species"..... what even from L*t*n? Surely you jest - here's a H*tt*rs fan on his (or her) way up the Dunstable Road for a recent home game wearing the obligatory liquorice allsort home replica kit.
I will not be classed as the same species as Trump, Theresa May, Jeremy Clarkson or anyone that’s ever pulled on a L*ton shirt thank you very much.
I'm fairly certain I remember @Squibba commenting on the fact he'd be subjected to racist abuse at a game sometime recently, but he did say it was also the first time he'd experienced it so it's probably not a common thing.
Never ever heard anything racist unless you count singing "theres only one pint of Guiness" to Jamie Lawrence of Bradford city which I thought was amusing at the time im sure he chuckled as well
Slightly off at a tangent but I could not believe someone used the phrase "I don't mean to be the n***** in the woodpile but..." at one of my clients today. Yes, I did pull them up for it. Even though they are one of the owners.
Good point. I remember chanting to Micky Quinn: You're so fat and full of choles-terol. Obviously I meant the good cholesterol.
Sadly there was a lot of racism at the vic in the 80s despite our best 2 players being black. Like pro life activists who support the death penalty some fans loved Luther and Barnes but would still racially abuse other players such as Luton's Ricky Hill and Louie Donowa of Norwich who both got it really bad. Thankfully its much improved now but still vital these neanderthals get banned for life if they crawl out of the sewers and express their prejudices in the stadium.
Twice. Once against Anya from the family stand. This went unchallenged from what I can tell. The other was against Dom Poleon in the Leeds game which cost us promotion. When challenged on it in The Rookery, the man stated that his 'best man is black so I can say what I want'. Most people around him laughed at this whilst the stewards joined in too.
The Nyom abuse at West Brom away. The guy was literally 2 seats away from me, to which I called him on it and it led to the fight in the stands (for a completely different reason actually). I understand that Kick It Out and the club should be reported about that kind of stuff, but I'd rather sort it out "in-house". As for myself, not received any in the stands at home or away.
Yeah, this time was the only time in like 12 years of attending. Heard some bad stuff towards Ellington regarding his religious choices. Always prone to a "random" pat down search when entering The Rookery but hey ho, Watford is one of the nicest and safest grounds to be at I reckon.
Poleon deserved abuse for what he did. Not racial, of course, but good, solid feedback concerning his appalling behaviour.
Thanks for posting. Well done to John. Wasted on the depressingly dumbed down bbc breakfast “news” though.
We had two drunk idiots sit near us at the Everton game. They spent the whole game shouting abuse at various Everton players, lots of swearing and general insults. Apart from the constant use of the c word it was not specifically offensive until Gomes was substituted. The one sitting next to me then said he “looked like a monkey” as he went off. Not a good thing to say but as it did not fit the heritage of Gomes as a racial insult I just ignored it. But when Walcott came on he then said “they are replacing a monkey with a ****”. At this point I told him that language was not acceptable, he did not give any response, but was more restrained in all of his insults after that. I do not know if he was really racist or just trying to shout insults to sound big, either way very ignorant and an unpleasant person. I hope he never sits near us again.
I don't see why this person is being protected and not named. I think it would send out a strong message if a known / famous person was named and shamed (and banned) by the club.
Haha if Walcott was that we wouldn't have to worry about why there are no Asians at the top level haha.
Really? I thought it was a well understood description of a distinct ethnic group and culture, originating from the island of ireland, as identified for example in the uk census. -
I walked past the scuffle with Everton fans outside the cemetery gates last week and I head a few N words from the Scousers .
Just talked to the club following reporting the issue from the Everton game via email. They said it is much better to text them when you hear an issue, as it allows them to identify the person via cctv at the time. Saved the number to my phone, I hope I don't have to use it.
