Quique Sanchez Flores - Sacked

I see the 1881 Twitter account has been quite scathing of the club since F/T yesterday. Seems an odd move by them given the way the club has supported them since their inception.

I hope that whoever we bring in, is brought in to start a rebuild job and is there next season. Fulham did the right thing and brought in Scott Parker, and it seems to be working for them. If we just bring in someone short-term it will be an absolute joke.

When the new man in inevitably announced, I’d like the club to obviously thank QSF - but I’d like them to show the humility to admit that it hasn’t worked out and they’ve made systematic errors at the club this season, not least with recruitment. It’s easier to turn a corner when you admit such things and making this decision should be the beginning of rectifying those mistakes. I fear it’s not and will just be the status quo being upheld with a different bloke taking the fall again in 6 months.

Got my hopes up. But it does look almost nailed on the Athletic is rarely wrong. Let's hope we get confirmation today at least.

Well Brighton fans were keen to see him go but maybe a fresh start is what he and us need .

Might just hand my season ticket in if that's the solution.

Take your time Gino, it doesn't need to be immediate.

No thanks. Even his press interviews sounded like he was bored half the time.

    This is the saddest part.
It shows how quickly matters can escalate.
Gino has to get this one right but some of our playing staff, grow up and take some responsibility.
    Little lads most of them.

Hmm Chris Hughton. I like the guy and he speaks a lot of sense when been on the radio recently but his football is not great. I still think we are a better side if we attack more and that's not his style but I would prefer him to Pearson and certainly Pulis

If we appoint Hughton, then I predict Gino could have a wave of dissent coming his way over the coming months that makes the current anger seem minuscule. Making him our new manager would be the latest in the series of terrible decisions the club has made recently. Fans would rightfully see the appointment almost as an admittance that we are going down.

Houghton on the verge of being appointed according to the Daily Mail. Haven’t they got to sack QSF first?

Appoint both and whoever gets the best results in the next few games keeps the job.

Who will replace him, these guys out of work....

Eusebio Di Francesco - last club Sampdoria
Quique Setien - last club real betis
Van bonckhorst - last club Feyenoord
Roger Schmidt - Some cub in China

Or ..... more likely as none of the above would be interested now we look doomed to relegation ....step up a Pozzo special... Mr Tony Adams - last club Granada

We need a younger hungry manager who is tactically adept and capable of developing youth. He would need an experienced assistant with him.

There will be no shortage of candidates. Managers know they live a precarious existence for the most part. I do feel a little for Flores. Not much but a little because the way some of the players played in that second half was unacceptable. Players like Capoue who should be leading from the front making the same erroneous decisions several times over instead of doing the basics.

Carrera has been out of work a while knows the Pozzo's but hardly strikes the imagination. They do definitely need a physical workout with players like Femenia visibly tiring (a player like Buta or Tagliafico would not) so someone like Schmidt would do that as reids mentioned although his record with Leverkusen was not that brilliant late on. I've always mentioned Beccacece. A rigorous analyst, hands on, fitness obsessed and develops young players and moulds them with Lisandro Martinez for example now at Ajax.

Flores deserves blame but so do the hierarchy for their mismanagement and their continual adherence to Giraldi. There have been several players who could have been bought for fees of less than £10M who were ignored. Perhaps they did not want to come but when you see £18M on Gray while players I know pretty well keeping an eye on the Primera in Argentina have been sold for half of that and are top level talent and we don't seem to bother obsessed by our Fluminense connection then he wants removing too. No wonder Andy Scott left. I am sure he knows pretty well the up and coming players in the pyramid.

We should be looking at players like Benrahma and Watkins and Wilmot should have been bled into the team. All that has been left to one side. If they are going to splurge in January then lets sign these players as more likely than not we will be in the Championship. Players like Bowen we ought to have had a punt on in the summer who can also if needed despite his frame hold the ball better than Gray and whose first touch is not three metres away.

Smudger this is very informative and depressing in equal measure.
It reinforces what many fear, that we have wasted precious money when better options were available.
I have always held Gino in high regard but he will stand or fall in the next six months.
Relegation would not be disastrous if a solid structure was in place with the correct blend of youth and experience. However if we continue to keep the same mentality within the squad I fear many of us will be watching our last season in the PL.
Pivotal appointment for the direction of our beloved club.

Yes.....to add. Gino, Flores and Duxbury are all there. The SSN presenter said it's not unusual for Gino to be in on a Sunday, but it is for Duxbury to be there and they are in a meeting to review the current situation.

Clearly they are sorting out the severance package deal.

Chris Houghton heavily tipped, and would set the pulse racing to zero. A really bland appointment and I just could not see him having the desired impact. He's like Flores and would need time to install his methods, a good pre-season etc.

The person we need would have to be a big personality, someone who would lift the place and get everyone going again. If we can't find someone like that then we may as well stick with Flores.

You know what, I'm not going to turn my nose up at Chris Hughton. I don't think his football at Brighton was ground-breaking but I remember them knocking it around nicely and they played with proper wingers. Plus he's been around the block in the English game and if/when we go down he could get us back up again.

Brighton were sleepwalking to relegation under him and were lucky Cardiff couldn’t grab a win. Their form fell off a cliff in the second half of the season (ring any bells?). He is literally one of guys we should be avoiding given the deficiencies within the club at present.

I just cannot fathom the thought process if it’s true - unless we have burnt so many bridges across Europe and at home with the hire/fire attitude to coaches to such an extent that it’s a job that now few will touch.

reids posted his corner analysis of Burnley's set pieces. And pointed out the exact way the goal we conceded for the first and how Mee is used coming late into the box. No one was impeding him. That means their own analysis is substandard. In todays game everything is analyzed to the nth degree. All the modern managers have their team. Ours seem to be not up to standard. So why not reids ? He can obviously do a better job than whoever was advising Flores. Having said that we did try to recruit the Spanish analyst who went on to work with Moreno and now Enrique so the Pozzo's may have spotted we do have a weakness in this area.
