He's a top bloke, is Mike - saw him at a 0-0 at Rotherham when we were in Div 3 or whatever they call it now. So he knows his stuff....unlike nob jockeys like Henry 'have you met my agent' Winter.

Most of the pundits were probably thinking Sanchez Flores who last summer?

The Pozzos won't care about the stick and they clearly had reservations about the future under Flores - better to make a quick decision now than wait till next season..

    Sunderland:

Does QSF play wingers, what the fans want, and we win and everyone leaves feeling a bit sad with a 'what could of been' mindset.
    OR
Does QSF play Juardo and Abdi, frustrate the fans early doors, and set up a sour atmosphere?

Its really interesting, maybe he goes for Juardo and Berghuis, with Anya and Ake to give a bit more balance.

Now that it is official, I think Flores can consider himself very unlucky not to have his contract renewed.

I think the key to the decline was the January transfer window. Had we retained the likes of Penaranda & Doucoure instead of loaning them to Granada and signed Success, I think those players would have had a big impact and would have given the team a welcome boost, to overcome Ighalo's loss of form.

The decision makers hampered the second half of the season, and are just as much to blame as anyone for the downturn in form.

Had we continued to score the goals, provided by Ighalo in 2015, from other areas of the side, then our results would have remained decent and everyone would still think QSF was wonderful, as everyone did on here in December.....only 4 and a half months ago.

It's pretty sad at how many fans have written with glee over the departure of the coach and how quickly some fans turn.

Speaking of glee, how do you feel about the Watford fans laughing at Norwich's demise on Wednesday at the game?

'3-0 to the Sunderland' they chanted. Maybe deserves its own thread?

In answer to your question, I still don't believe that he's going until your sources confirm it.

No idea what you're going on about. Trying start something no doubt.....usual pathetic response which is tiresome. But not a surprise seeing who wrote it.

Maybe if our boy had selected players who might have scored the goals, or if he had selected players who would have passed the ball forward so other people could score the goals, things might have been different. But whose fault was that?

Just asking your opinion Mr Touchy. I'm surprised as you usually have no trouble providing it.

But you carry on crying, sorry to interrupt.

Nothing touchy about telling a fool to stop picking unnecessary cyber fights. It's boring, boring, boring.

I just posted an innocent post, with my views, but you.....and many others.....just want to highjack it and twist to your own agenda. Like I said, you have your reasons, but I find it pathetic.

    GoingDown "The Stability"

As pathetic as the Watford fans chanting 'down with the Geordies' at the Norwich fans on Wednesday do you think?

Again.....trying desperately hard to redirect a thread into something else. For some reason, known only to yourself, you harbour little grudges....store it up and use it totally out of context. This is a thread about QSF. If you want to talk about Wednesday night post it on the match thread....or just do us all a favour and bore off.

Completely incapable of answering a simple question. You are a parody, sir. Or just a really bad troll. Either way, highly entertaining.

Anyway, back to your tears about Quique. The floor is yours.

I know I should just ignore you, but it's quite interesting to see you wriggle and make yourself look ridiculous.

Anyway, I understand the decision of the club, and I think the time has come where he had to go, so I can both sides of the argument. Like I said I think he's been unlucky as some of the decisions that have been made have contributed decisively to the downturn of results.

If you want to respond with an intelligent comeback, then I'll happily reply.....if you just want to carry on with your own personal war.....you can do it on your own.

Top man, and has achieved what no other man has done for us in the Premier League era. Class on the touchline in every way in terms of the style and the way he carries himself, right through to his effortless fashion. I'll happily admit I am sad to see him go, however I do think given the last 4 months it is the right decision from Gino.

Momentum us a huge thing in football, and one that's for damn certain is we are carrying precious little of that into the 2016/17 season on the back of how the second half of the season has gone. The last time I truly enjoyed how we played games were the festive period matches against Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea. Since then it just hasn't been right. Everything looks disjointed and he hasn't been adventurous enough in trying to come up with a Plan B. Sticking with Abdi and Jurad0 out wide and leaving the likes of Berghuis and Amrabat on the bench recently was more than puzzling given we were safe. He needed to show he could mix it up and didn't.

Give the new guy the pre-season rather than carrying this form through to the first ten games and see if we can build. But I am truly grateful for what Quique did for us and look forward to giving him the send off he deserves on Sunday.

Can't believe the argument of "What can a club like Watford expect from a manager?" all while the Premier League trophy is sitting in Leicester's trophy cabinet

Not loaning those players back to Granada would've almost certainly spelt relegation for them, whereas we were practically safe. No way would that have been a good move.

I agree and this is why they did it. It helped Granada greatly and both clubs survived so it was the right call for the group, however, it did little to help Flores and if you look at it from his point of view only, I certainly think he was hard done by. The next coach will have these better players.

Once you accept that the head coach is just a small cog in the machine that is Gino Pozzo's Watford, you become less and less attached to the head coach as a result, and the whole thing becomes easier.

Exactly. Henry Winter, Paul Hayward and Oliver Holt are all that is wrong with football today, too busy burnishing their PC credentials over racism, sexism and the rest of it.

I hope Pozzo take the same action against the players that ultimately resulted in Flores "leaving".

I look forward to seeing Nyom, Parades, Abdi, Suarez, Jurado, and maybe to some extent Ighalo, all getting the same treatment. Too players have been too poor for too long.

Flores... Well he didn't help himself. A flat central midfield, Capoue on the wing, Berghuis just never getting a fair crack, and according to QSF, it was his decision for the new signings in January to go to Granada on loan to not disrupt the squad.

After 99-00 and 06-07, thanks for showing us we can do it at this level, Quique.

And thanks also for those couple of hours on the late afternoon of March 13, when I genuinely thought you were going to win us the FA Cup. It may be the closest we will get for some time!

A notable part of the club's story, and though it's in the best interests of both parties, I hope you can leave with head held high on Sunday.

Why am I a watford supporter : when I was 5 a watford player jumped off a carnival float a gave me a signed poster of the team, I have supported watford ever since (41 years)

All I want is for us to win the prem and then go on and win the champions league, if we can't do this I want everybody associated to want to play for Watford or be associated with Watford.

I like a lot of people called for QSF to be sacked , I now feel slightly sad as it sounds like he wanted to be at Watford which is all you can ask for, wish he had shown some passion and desire when we needed it wish be had shown courage and played new players - however QSF job well done no matter what others may think we owe you a debt of gratitude for keeping us in the prem

  33. The reason they didn't come is because Quique didn't want either of them here. Gino already knew the writing was on the wall for Quique, but gave him the tools he asked for to complete the season his way, that is Suarez and Amrabat, who did not break the bank, and were the only players Quique said he had a place for in the team - he had Gino over a barrel, which was not a popular circumstance.

Gino was not upset with those players, but with Quique for forcing his hand. Quique justified not taking Penaranda, Ducoure or Adebayor on the grounds that the players he needed were the ones he himself chose. Note: Gino brought two of them into the Watford fold anyway, and subsequently others who simply are not Quique players.

I think Quique signed his own death warrant long before even the most skeptical of us even suspected it.

    Quique is seriously toxic.

QSF was given Amrabat as a record signing and hardly used him due to his negative outlook. Why on earth do you think he would have deployed Success and Penaranda? You're just scrabbling for excuses why QSF has had such a downturn after you gave him such strong backing. Face it, you've backed the wrong horse. I thank QSF for the job he has done in keeping us up but he has been woefully deficient the last 4 months.
