I'm not ascribing right or wrong to either side because I don't have the foggiest what is going on. I just expressed my honest opinion that I hope it can be sorted out. These are all grown men we are talking about. I'd be very disappointed if..whatever the reasons..we started next season in the Prem without the Head Coach who got us there. That shouldn't be an unreasonable opinion should it?

If we had missed out by 3 points, I'd still have considered Joka to have done well since joining us btw.

 

I know the players will be used to head coaches coming and going now but surely it would effect them more than usual if Slav doesn't say seeing as he's the one who got us promoted at the end of the day. I'm concerned.

Exactly how I feel - it's the Pozzos who are creating the dynasty not the head coach. Change isn't always something to fear either. Keep the faith

 

Agree, one of the huge benefits of the Pozzo system is that a Head Coach can be replaced instantly without causing too much instability throughout the team.

Totally different circumstances. Slav is out of contract and holding out to see if he can get a better deal elsewhere, the Pozzos are looking around for a replacement if he leaves. Most people want him to stay I feel but understand he is out of contract and able to do what he wants.

 

Obviously they're different circumstances. But comparable.

Manager does good job and fans want him to stay.
Owner feels we can do better.
Hopefully the same end result.

Sometimes you have to trust your judgement. The guy was selected and appointed and delivered the goods just as the Pozzos have done. There are no guarantees in life. Don't bow to pressure - negotiate. Follow the evidence. How is the Joka gonna be heppy with your here today, gone tomorrow attitude?

B.llocks. Yep - Slav is an excellent coach and also an excellent! tactician. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If it is broke then do fix it. The tenor of your post suggests a rapid changeover of head coaches is a good thing in itself. Tosh. There may be a dynasty or there may not be. The only considerations should be - is the current incumbent doing the bizzo? Are we being fair to him financially? Is he being too greedy?

On 1 yes. On 2 and 3 who knows? Not you, not me. Comparisons with God take time.

 

They are rational beings, and very good at what they do.

They will have offered him what they feel he deserves, after promotion, to try and ensure a consistent presence next season.

They also offered him something, and despite contacting another manager have not hired one over the past few weeks, suggesting that he is (or at least was) their first choice.

They will have countered the pros and cons of Joka and this new guy with their wage demands.

If Joka wants more than a Europa League winner, he probably wants too much.

My post was about the rumours on Twitter, that a deal to bring Joka back was imminent, until he hired a new English agent, who has been linking Joka to every management vacancy and demanding unrealistic terms.

For their to be a long way to go in negotiations suggests that Joka is asking for far more than the financially astute Pozzos will ever offer.

My bet is that the Pozzos have given their final offer, and Joka had a (ever shortening) deadline to accept.

Surely the crux of the whole debate about continuity versus a rapid change of head coaches is IF you find the right one!

Non WFC Fans thought us mad because of what happened last October but it worked because we ended up with a very good one who got us promoted.

If Joka does leave, and is replaced by somebody who turns out to be even better, then again our policy has worked, despite the bemusement of football writers and other fans.

However, I'm nervous because any new head coach is a step into the unknown..will he fit in etc..and to me if it ain't broke...
