Doah! Giampaolo sorry. Probably not TBH but I think the whole rumour is slightly unlike while contract negotiations are still going on

From a Daily Mail European football reporter:

Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) tweeted at 2:19 pm on Sun, May 24, 2015:
Quique Sanchez Flores has received offer from Watford. He is considering it & he is tempted. He's an excellent manager.

Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) tweeted at 2:34 pm on Sun, May 24, 2015:
Flores' style: more Benitez than Martinez. Tactically smart. He's been learning English. His kids are fluent, go to British school in Madrid

after the miracle their new man has just performed I can't see them looking to change in a hurry.

If Crafton is right. I'm not saying he isn't but maybe he's got his wires crossed. A contract offer would imply it's all over with Slav. The Mail & the WO can't both be right.

Would be a great appointment if true, happily see Slav go if this was the case.

The suggestions at the moment is that the Observer aren't getting much from the club, understandably.

People should understand that just because the Observer are a local paper who deal with the club regularly, that doesn't make them more likely to be right. If the club ups the media drawbridge then the Observer are pretty much useless, whereas the national media have all sorts of sources where they get information.

The flipside Jellyman is the WO were reporting yesterday that talks were still ongoing, not that the club refused to comment. The national media are more likely to have direct links in to the Joka / Flores camps however.

I would guess Quique has been invited for an interview and might indeed be negotiating as we speak ... but so of course could Joka and any number of potentials, I imagine Premier League berths would be highly sought after among ambitious managers/coaches.

'Official' doesn't actually mean a lot in this scenario.

So I spoke to an Atlético-supporting Spanish friend of mine, and this is what he had to say.

Flores did a good job at Atlético, not as good as Simeone of course, but a good job nonetheless. Also did v well at Getafe (1st stint I imagine) and when I asked him if Flores is a tactician or not, he said he wasn't sure but did tell me that he likes proper football, I.e. played along the ground and not hoofed, a typical Spanish manager if you will.

He doesn't know if Flores speaks English or not, but if he does come here then of course, it would be hugely advantageous to have the ability to do so.

He sounds like a decent coach, and we may do well to tempt him here.

Still want to keep Joka though.

Heard that Hogg may be allowed to leave Villa on loan to manage a club.

He was doing English lessons a few years back when he thought he might be moving to the Prem (with Villa I think) and his kids are fluent going to English speaking schools In Madrid.

My guess is that we need to have at least 4 managers lined up if we are to be as successful as this past season :)

Seen a few Valencia fans on Twitter saying they'd have him back as their boss, he had two years there and got them Champions League qualification in both seasons. Maybe they're one of the other clubs interested? Think their boss just signed a new deal though.

The man who made Sergio Aguero look like Darius Vassell with his horrible negative football. No thanks. No idea what he was like before Atletico though.

Like most Im gleaning my opinion from reading Wiki.

It seems his career can be assessed in two very distinct sections. Firstly an excellent start and considerable success with some major, major clubs and then a string of sackings firstly by Benfica and then in the Middle East.

So, a once high flying young manager, destined for the very top , who's recent career has taken a few wrong turns and is looking to get it back on track. If he was still destined for the top we woudnt even be on his radar so I have to say Id be pretty excited by this rumour if its true.

For those who CBA to read the wiki page Ive done a concise career precis.

Getafe 2004-5 - 13th in La Liga after having just been promoted. Considered to be a great success for the smallest of the Madrid clubs

Valencia 2005-7- Took over from Ranieri where the team were underperforming. Acheived 3rd and 4th in La Liga and quarters of CL. Sacked due to politics and string of average performances a few weeks into his third season.

Benfica 2008 -3rd in league and domestic cup winners but sacked. Id imagine 3rd place is underperforming for Benfica

Athletico 2009-11 - Europa League Winners against Fulham 2010 beating Liverpool, Valencia and Galatasaray en route. Athleticos first Euro trophy in almost 50 years
Copa Del Rey runners up. 2010
UEFA Super CUp Winners v Inter Milan
However underperformed in the league finishing mid table both times and consequently sacked for Simeone.

United Arab Emirates 2011-14 - sacked after 3 years

Getafe 2015 - brief return but resigned after few months due to internal politics.

The kind of negative football that finishes 8th with Eduardo Salvio, Diego Forlan, Sergio Aguero, Simao, Assuncao, Reyes and three of Atletico's league title winning side in Tiago, Raul Garcia and Mario Suarez.

The Spanish Jokanovic then. Encouraging to hear he's been learning English although keeping Garcia's assistants and Austin (who can also speak the lingo) would be important if he's appointed.

Would be disappointed if Joka leaves but what more can we do if we've offered him an very good contract and he's still not happy. Hopefully it doesn't drag on for much longer and we hear something early next week.
