Anyone managed to buy the bloody thing?

Just waiting for my delivery now
People doing their nut over delivery delays like it's a life and death situation.
Spose it beats queueing up outside game at midnight.
I am posing this message from my PS5. ContrOlller diffiucult to type wit.
Sent from my Sony PlayStation 5.
Is there any decent games out for it? Seems a bit slow on that front.
same with both consoles, no real next gen titles yet. it seems on the ps5 spiderman morales looks pretty good. im an xbox man, but nothing really of not on there although valhalla looks gorgeous.
Yeah Valhalla looks great but I'm tempted just to wait a year or two until it's most likely on game pass!
Never had Xbox or Ps5. Is this something for an old fart in their early 50s?
It's maybe worth picking up a cheap PS4 people are offloading to try and see if you like it - if you like playing games in the evening to relax you might be able to teach your hands muscle memory in time to spend your retirement playing FIFA all day.
Until they bring out a golf game with 20 plus courses that follows the PGA tour in 4K which is better than Tiger Woods 2014 I shall retain my PS3.
Alternatively a proper 4K Gran Turismo may well tempt me. GT7 is due spring 2021.
The geeks in CEX can be helpful (they should let you try a few). With the price of 2nd hand disks you could (and hardware) you could find something you like.
Our (my) PS3's golf thing we got from Lidl needs an airing - now where did I put those three little kiddie clubs (iron, driver and putter)?
I never used to play my PS2 and think it needed improving. Has gaming really advanced as much as it seems over the past 10 years or so? Nowadays it seems more mainstream. What's more, it seems more time consuming. People spending days at a time playing online with strangers and swearing at them down headsets for not being good enough.
I was happy playing Spyro on my own
Haven’t looked too hard but is it actually possible to get a PS5 for Xmas? If not what is the estimate for when they are readily available and not always sold out? Cheers.
But imagine the fun I would have playing online Halo/PvZ:BfN/SW:BF2 and able to hurl limitless abuse at anonymous user m00g1? Don't be selfish get yourself an xbox.
Whomever it is you are playing on this Halo game, I am he. Hurl your abuse.
I am a 'don't play online' gamer, and there are decent games to be had for people like us. On ps4 there has been Hitman 2, Fallout 4, Watchdogs 1 & 2, Assassins Creed Origins, The Last Of Us remastered for example that I have played that have been decent. Plenty of other single player games I not played too. In terms of advancement from ps2, well, they are a lot prettier to look at, more realistic voiceovers with proper lip synching, and some may require more of your time.
I would love to replay Resident Evil and Matal Gear Solid
A shiny new console for you it is then.
PS5 and XB1sX failures are topping last generations at this point. I would wait at least a few months to a year. Never buy a console on release month, the amount of teething pains that need ironing out can be numerous.
Back in 2006 I made the mistake of buying a first version XB360 and got the RROD. Reports of the new Xbox exploding and the PS5 constantly freezing and rebooting is not likely to help anyone want to pick one up at the
All very true AND they're aren't (m)any games that exploit their enhanced AV capabilities to the full. Give it at least 6 months.
Xbox1 and ps4 prices should really drop after Xmas - pick up one of these and a few games - if it floats your boat then go for the new tech. FWIW my Xbox1 is mainly used as a media server (via PLEX) but saying that I *think* I willingly spunk up the other side of £50 for the new halo...
As I said earlier I'm quite taken with the XboX's ability to lay any xbox* game:
But even I can't see the logic of spending at lot of money buying state of the art tech to play 15+ YO games - unlike those wkaners who cream themselves playing zx spectrum games on a modern system...
Call me Dr Zeitgeist:
Should be getting one delivered before Christmas. Absolute nightmare trying to get one online yesterday. My fault for not pre ordering.
I normally wait a while (typically 6 months - 1 year) before considering a new console purchase for the following reasons...
(ii) Bugs are ironed out
(iii) More games available
(iv) Possibility of other versions being made available with more disk space
Being a skint University student I found a way to fix the RROD, wrap it up in a blanket and shove it in the freezer for a few hours, worked a treat for a while.
From what I remember it was the process was put in xbox's serial number in MS site, print out bumf and pre-printed label, disconnect everything (HDD), wrap-up and take to courier (DHL?). It was delivered to my place of work (and some argy-bargy by email) with a load of vouchers.
But Jawa vs Tusken Raiders in Mos Eisley.
I will wait until next June if I am still alive for the same reasons stated by SkylaRose and Manatleisure. But of course there will be those on social media platforms desperate to gain views and likes and to show off. Most PS4 games should work with the PS5. I'm just hoping sports developers make full use of the consoles abilities in a year or two. Still any powerful desktop blows any console out of the water.
True, but with PC gaming you're always playing 'the hardware racing to catch up with the software' game (cf 'Saints Row'). With a console you've got at least 5 years of games perfectly optimised for the tek.
I do miss PC gaming as at the time I was doing molecular modelling and up-grading my kit (memory, processing power, graphical renditions and storage but not sound) on six-monthly cycles. The side effect I was very much a state of the art gamer.
GT7 is when I'll pull the trigger I think. Hopefully there will be black version of the console by then
Just have to keep waiting until supply matches demand. This is the reason for many people being frustrated. Scalpers. Arseholes who buy something they have no interest in just to make a huge mark up.
Wasn't the all singing and dancing xbox recently released (in the UK)?
I'll be honest, you aren't missing much. Watch Dogs Legion was awful and was in no way a PS5 game. Clearly just a ploy to make it a launch title. Add to that it was just a terrible game in general.
Sackboy does feel like one and seems to take advantage of the additional tech. I've got Miles Morales sitting there to play so maybe that'll be better.
I'll just be loading up on sports titles GD having not played a few in a long while and then moaning about how bad they are. In 2021 !
I played Plague Tale and found it interesting and absorbing to an extent. Biggest disappointment has been Alien Colonial Marines. So excited for that title only for it to turn out to be Xiscoesque. Still hoping some developer can actually create a WW2 game based at sea, land and air that is truly realistic based on accurate data.
Sitting in a mock up of the bridge of HMS King George V with a plot room chasing Bismarck and organizing your forces or being in a carrier battle in the Pacific. World of this and that is anything but realistic. Perhaps if someone could turn Steel Panthers WAW into a 3D game that would be brilliant.
