This was the sales pitch towards the end of last season which I am sure contravenes the Sales Description Act if last night was anything to go by.

Anyone complaining about the 'Offside' goal are grasping at straws as it is as plain as the nose on your face that we are seriously lacking in this division (and probably the one below).

Injuries have started to kick in and our lack of any depth at all is showing, what Tamas Priskin must be thinking when Danny Shi2 gets the nod over him God Only Knows.

I believe the problem goes back to the summer when the club did not punt good money on a couple more quality players - if we had laid out £5mil on David Nugent it would have been a sound investment.

Credit to Adey, the guy is honest as the day is long, but he cannot make a silk purse out of a sour's ear ..... U only need to look at some of the teams just above us to realise just how far we are away from what is needed.

I wonder what this years sales pitch will be ??

I feel the same i think that now it will take something magical to keep us up. It could happen dont get me wrong but when you play sheffeild united at home and lose one nil in a complete nothing game questions have to be asked. IF the terrible happens and we do go down will we keep aare players? Will we struggle in the championship like so many of the relegated teams?

David Nugent would never sign for Watford. He's a Evertonian, has never left the north west and has a gaggle of secure Premiership clubs after him.

Agreed budfrog although UEA is right it's highly unlikely that Nugent would come to us.
The lack of investment in quality players in August is starting show.

I made this point last week. This is like a poker game - we have to gamble now, the pot is huge.

If we are in the CCC next season we'll spend all the time looking back at January wishing we had had a punt.

If we go down, i wont be thinking i wish we'd spent ? many mil more. (Although it is clear we lack depth, that no one can deny)
Besides i think it was only us who believed and still do believe we will stay up, therefore Aidy's targets were reluctant to come to us.

That much was obvious when we tried to sign Robbo, who responded by staying with West Brom because he clearly felt they were a better long term option. Probably the same situation with Mcanuff, though it seems a possibility neither of those teams will get promoted.

There is no shame in us being in the Championship IF that’s where we are. The money we have now will hopefully allow us to build and then we can establish ourselves as a Premiership side.

One point, Taylor was blamed for showing a lack of ambition by not splashing the cash (he wanted to secure our long term security), ****** (oh dear his name is banned lol) showed ‘ambition’ by spending all our money and did it guarantee us success? 1 or 2 mil may not sound a great deal too some people, but it will be the difference between profit and loss to our club.

They're not taken into account in the profit/loss account for last season.

i feel the rumoured 450k bid for Carlos Edwards should have been upped by at least a million, especially as we wasted 500k on Tommy Smith and that we should have tried more for Carlton Cole.

To be honest, like people have said, a big name player is not going to join a club like us. We would be better off going for champ players like Kamara at WBA (not ellington please!) and Koumas who would be saleable assets at the end of the season if we went down.

Last night was certainly no premiership football, it would only just about be acceptable at the the dog kennel up the M1

This is the point I keep making, buying players of the age that you can sell them again at the same or a bigger fee if needs be, not spending the money that should provide the club with financial security for years to come.

I lambasted ****** at the time but it wasn't all his fault, someone fed him the rope that hung him and ultimately the club. The problem was that all the money went lining the pockets of players who either were not good enough (Vega - dangerous at both ends), were past their sell by date (Galli - ultimate Pro but approaching 40), or had no desire (Hughes - can't play today boss coz I broke my toenail).

I think by the time january comes it will be too late to save us from relegation and no one decent will want to come to us.

We will need to do something very special in the January re. strikers to stay up. However, its unless we get a very lucky break on the loan front, we're going to find it even more difficult to attract talent at a sensible price than in the summer. Alan Smith for a few months?
