It would as they've already drawn one. However they're starting to resemble Barca under Guardiola ... I dare say an odd team might nick a point by parking the bus but only a couple of teams can do that well and certainly Spurs isn't one of them. Arsenal? yeah they can defend but they're not good enough this year IMO.

7th is genuinely up for grabs this year for sure, Everton and Southampton look poor so far, the overall quality of the teams outside of the top 6 is condensing year on year (with the exception of Palace who look like the worst team probably since Derby) As long as we avoid an injury disaster like last season it really is ours for the taking this year.

6th is up for grabs if you read the Liverpool's forum.

    Meltdown!!!

A lot of it does, although for us to finish on 44 points and Palace 30 we'd need to have a near identical record for the rest of the season, let's hope not.

Absolutely. I can't see that happening. I think that the original "forecast" calculations were part of the current forecast on that basis.

I reckon that we will get about 55 points in total, which equates to about 4 points for every 3 matches from the remaining games.

We're their bogey team .. beat them 3 times in their relegation season.

Looking forward to listening to the podcast Fat Geordie having another go at "I can take loosin like, bet loosin to feckin Watfood .... I mean, for fecks sake, Watfoood ...."

Having a quick look at the fixture list, it's actually been very kind to us I think.

Out of the 7 games we've played, we've already done Man City & Liverpool, we'll face Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United & Spurs in the next 8. That's the big 6 done with 15 games played.

That leaves us with a very, very attractive run of six games - Burnley, Palace, Huddersfield, Brighton, Leicester & Swansea. It obviously won't happen but they're all winnable and out the 18 points on offer there I'd take/expect 12+ and for the cherry on top, they're all over the most demanding period, Christmas.

So we'll be safe before the New Year and I reckon even Top 10 (injuries permitting)

I don't want to get carried away but I genuinely think we can win Premier League 2 and come anywhere from 7th-10th. What a great season that would be!!

Arsenal is at home and even though they are starting to play well and quietly move up the league I fancy our chances against them. Chelsea have lost Morratta and it depends which Chelsea turn up, could get a point, spurs and Man U will probably do what City done to us, and as for the rest I agree all winnable fixtures and it looks like a very promising season ahead

I don't think we'll be "safe" (I.e 38 points) by NYE but we'll be well on the way. Probably around the same number of points we had under QSF.

Agree. I don't fear Arsenal at the moment and wouldn't be shocked to get something out of it (how far we have come!). I don't think we will get anything out of Chelsea but you never know. Man U and Spurs look like mission impossible for anyone outside the "big 6" at the moment.

My only fear is a run of poor results can make those "winnable" games after the next 8 a lot harder. In our season under QSF you could just see the confidence drain from the team after the difficult run over Christmas. We were competitive against City and Spurs but still lost. We never really fully recovered after that.

Updated league (re-checked my facts this time to make sure games / points v Prem 1 sides is correct)

    Prem 2 table 04 10 17.PNG

Points V Prem 1 sides 15 from a possible 93 (more than half from Burnley)

Everton have applied for Prem 2 status and are 7 games into a trial period where it has to be said they are doing a cracking job.

You've got to hand it to Burnley given the difficulty of their opening programme. However, I still predict them to 'blow up' and be relegated.

He mentioned Palace on Instagram but then removed that bit. By all accounts it's a 4 to 8 week injury.

I’m on his as well. Good start but I do think one of the Manchester clubs (City most likely) will get a stupid amount of points this season. Already eating into our 42pt headstart at a rate of 1pt a game and we’ve started well!

Based on last night, neither Leicester nor West Brom are going to threaten us this year. Terrible match

Glad we dodged the Ihenacho bullet.

Gibbs looked decent but may well be wishing he had ignored his agent. C**t.

Both sets of fans totally pissed off with their respective managers.

    Happy days.
