Wobby claiming both Deulofeu and Chalobah will be fit to play against Brighton. Great news. Hopefully they get a half at least on Saturday.

I read it as Deulofeu and Doucoure fit. Chalobah just seen training. It's not particularly clear.

Deulofeu and Chalobah fit for Brighton? We're the signing of Alcacer and a decent CB away from this forum imploding through lack of things to complain about.

Yeah, on second read they're definitely referring to Doucoure. If at least one of them is fit we will be looking much better.

Having nothing to complain about is all some will need to complain.

...that’s when me and Malteser start moaning about Gracia again. You’ve been warned. Realistically you should all be hoping we sign no one and Chalobah’s leg falls off.

    ***INJURY UPDATE***INJURY UPDATE***INJURY UPDATE***

    Breaking news from the club.

Gerard Deulofeu has today received positive news regarding the muscle complaint which has restricted his pre-season involvement so far. The 24-year-old winger is improving sufficiently to be able to take part in full training next week. Meanwhile, Nathaniel Chalobah is training with the first-team, while Stefano Okaka will return to full training following his rehabilitation after surgery in May.

Short and cryptic. Gerry is "improving sufficiently" - so not fully recovered then, even though he's going to be "taking part in full training". I'm a bit concerned about the "next week" bit too. The Watford FC medical team work on different concepts of space/time than the rest of us. We have bitter experience of their "next week" and "shortly" and "slight knock".

Chalobah meanwhile, isn't taking part in "full training", he's only as far as "training" with the first team. Not the full thing. That might be hobbling around with a special orthopaedic built up boot and a plaster cast from ankle to nutsack, collecting up the bibs and the balls in one of those net bag things.

So that's where Big Stef has been - having surgery! On what? We don't know. I wonder what the motive was for keeping it quiet? Were they hoping to sell him to some mugs and then have him show up at his new club sheepishly on a mobility scooter? Still good to know he's going to be returning to the same "full training" as Deulofeu. Anyone else detect a note of camp commandant order in the update about Stef? I wonder whether he's been dawdling a bit in committing himself to the pre-season work out? Perhaps he thought he was going the same as all of us? "Stefano Okaka VILL be returning to full training".

I very much doubt that Okaka has EVER completed a full day's training!

It seems only Cleverley and maybe Kabule are still on the treatment table.

However I do think that it may take a long time for Chalobah to get his fitness completly back. I hope I'm wrong.

Doucoure’s recent absence was due to a case of appendicitis apparently rather than injury.

If Chalobah, Doucoure and Delofeou are fit even within the first 3 games of the season, that will be a boost.

I'm preparing myself for at least one of them being out for longer and probably two or all 3.

I reckon one of them available for the bench on day 1, Doucoure and Delefeou back starting game 3 and no appearance from or news on Chalobah. :(

If you read between the lines, Doucoure only signed a new deal as he's out for months, Chalobah might as well retire and Deulofeu, despite coming back from the injury at the end of last season, now has the same injury and won't be around til Christmas 2019.

    Great news.

If / when he ever plays for us again, I reckon he deserves an ironic round of “who are ya, who are ya!?”

So we're starting the first game without Doucoure, Chalobah and Cleverley.

Suddenly ? It's just a repeat of the second half of last season.

True, but even with our record I didn't expect us to be going into the first game with all three of those missing, and potentially no one signed to fill in!

i read it that Doucoure will be fit and should at least be on the bench for Brighton. Delefeou will be available from Burnley onwards. Chalobah who knows.

De Bruyne has ligament damage. Man City medical have declared a 3 month return date, so 20th November say. It will be interesting to see how they get on against their own timescales against our clowns.

Sorry to give Luton praise but one of their players who suffered a dislocated ankle /broken leg in March is back training and in the squad after only about 130 days out!

If one of ours did that they'd probably have to retire ..
