Unfortunately as we’ve found to our cost, nobody actually wants to buy Deeney or Peyrera, so it’s not that simple. Also it’s quite a shift from saying we shouldn’t have bought Sarr and it’s what got us relegated, to we shouldn’t have bought Sarr, and we should’ve sold three other players and reinvested that money as well as the £30m we spent on him. Now you’re talking about changing nearly half the team.

Going back to pre premiership era, you would have to put Daniel Tozser in there. He had the Best left foot in the league at the time.

Sarr still might have kept us up if QSF had played him sooner

What I said was if we sold those 3 we couldve bought Sarr AND the other players we needed.

That's true. If we'd switched to 433 as soon as Sarr was fit we may well have stayed up. We spent £30m on a player who didn't fit our manager's system, then we sacked that manager and appointed a new manager who didn't want to play him.

I presume this thread is just full of people saying Gabriele Angella as the best ever?

We wouldn't have got relegated last season with him oozing sexuality at the back.

    Yup.

People say that the result at Villa Park was what eventually relegated us, but the 0-0 home draw against Bournemouth under Flores has to be up there. The line-up, formation (three at the back in a must-win game? WTF?), result and match stats sum up all that was wrong with the second QSF era.

Also can anyone remind me why Deeney and Capoue weren’t even on the bench?

Deeney was out injured from the Everton game in August until the Burnley game in late November. He only made one substitute appearance under Flores.

One of those players that got shorter the higher he tried to jump.

We created more than enough chances to beat Arsenal on final day after going 3 down in 20 minutes .

Would have ranked as one of best final day survivals .

Someone beat me to the punch on Lucas Neill who was signed at a time when we were, from memory, not overly short on centre-backs, played a grand total of six minutes as a sub and was then loaned to Doncaster Rovers. Masterstroke.

Nice mention of Rafa Romo who was secretly signed for a single game to be third-choice GK at Everton on the opening day of the 15/16 season.

And Sheff Utd. People moan about the defensive line up but we drew 0-0 and missed three absolutely golden chances that fell to Gray, Welbeck and Dawson.

Where were we when we signed Niang? We had a horrible second half of that season, but Niang banged a couple of goals to get rid of lingering doubts of survival, by the time Sarr started playing for us we were bang in trouble lol

Probably would have conceded just as many if not more, but we'd have scored more so yes, we would have stayed up with Angella
