Anyone suggesting that the Pozzo’s need to go are complete bonkers. Fair enough to point out their mistakes regarding player recruitment, but they have been nothing short of sensational to this point.

Agree. However people have every right to be angry. 5-0 after 18 minutes is utterly disgraceful. In my view this squad of players is in danger of completely disconnecting the supporters. Gutless mercenaries.

    They also built it.

It’s one thing criticising owners who buy a club in a solid position in the leagues and financially, and run it down the divisions or into massive debt. And there’s nothing wrong with saying the Pozzos have probably taken us towards the top end of what they can with their means. I think that’s probably true. But even if a replacement with the right money came along there’s no telling if they’d do any better.

As on the stock market past performance is not an indicator for future performance.

This is the mantra Pozzo work to with managers, you are only as good as your last game.

Maybe they should live by the standards they place on others.

I will say again, this is not good enough, this is pozzos doing, this has been coming for 2 seasons at least.

He needs to come out and explain what the bloody hell is going on and how he will get the club out of this mess or, as I would prefer at the present time, sell up and leave.

He is treating the fans as mugs.

Pozzo puts players on long term contracts to ensure they do not get sold cheaply when they do go. And if people are genuinely concerned and if enough of them speak to the appropriate channels of course they are going to listen. They have before. If a flood of letters. e-mail or other correspondence turn up at Duxbury's or Gino's desk or on social media (despite the low intelligence and lack of articulation of those posting on there) of course they will take note.

It is eminently amusing to see those who want Pozzo out have no alternative planned. They also seem to think that they blindly alone know what is right as if those who are supportive of the ownership are not blind to what is happening on the pitch or are indeed happy at what is going on. I've voiced my concerns about the recruitment even made suggestions from time to time about defenders we should have gone for and were affordable and cast doubts on the training regime given the same faults appear game to game.

I think more are in agreement with Giraldi going than the Pozzos. That feeling from fans has been there a lot longer than yesterday. Giraldi will be given until the end of the season, clinging to the excuse in January that their target don’t want to come to a team at the bottom

The club would not even be in the position it is now had the current owners taken over. And who are you to take the moral high ground as the super fan of all fans ? Your supercilious attitude is unwarranted. Everyone on here wants the club to do well. Not all are so reactionary and over the top in their criticisms. Of course the club deserves criticism from the boardroom and the players for not failing to do the best job so far this season but you seem to think just because we are still supportive of the regime that we are somehow blind to these faults. You are the one who is blindly slinging unnecessary insults.

This is a time when supporters need to rally behind the club and players and give them a lift because it can soon become a self deprecating cycle of slow demoralization. If things do not improve or January's window is poor then feel free to criticize further. I would and as I have said not been a great fan of the summer recruitment and in past summers too when excellent players have been overlooked for relatively cheap transfer sums.

Why such an extreme reaction? "Complete Bonkers" is a hyperbole reaction, in the same way that "Pozzo's have ruined the club", etc.

The fact is we are at the bottom and just been hammered 8-0, and our players performed shamefully, and that will, partly at least, be a reflection of what is going on in the club as a whole.

If ever there was a time to be "suggesting need to go", now was it, it is a perfectly valid opinion. I wouldn't agree myself, though. Not quite yet anyway.

The danger with the Pozzo's going is that we may just get far worse owners. I would like to think that our profile, edge of London, much improved facilities, we could attract decent owners as we have real potential, but that is not a given.

It's quite normal to form an opinion based on events. A series of awful events, record breaking defeats is likely to justify a negative opinion.

You and Jumbo have made good points. It’s not you, or people like you that I’m digging at. It’s the noisy minority who just make attention seeking one-liners to troll. They are only worthy of being trolled back.

I personally don’t think that it is time for the Pozzo’s to go without knowing what the alternative is. Lack of investment in our defence has been well discussed but right now we cant do much. A new defence in January will be too late. We need to make the team solid and build confidence. We’ve just got a new head coach for this reason, unfortunately his second game was against Man City. Player’s determination was obviously non-existent yesterday and the confidence is fragile but Pozzo out isn’t the answer. This season has started appallingly, I said at the end of last season that this year would be tough. The the next two games are crucial, lose and I think we’re definitely down, win and we have a chance of building confidence and putting a run together.

Could somebody please point me to all the Pozzo out posts less than six months ago when we were heading for the Cup Final and 7th in the league?

I know you don’t. Pozzo our is an extreme post just to troll a response.

Edit: my post was designed that way as that’s all the OP deserved.

I’ve just responded to Burnsy’s post. As I said, I’m not digging at the balanced posters.

If there are better owners out there with deep pockets I’d agree. I am just saying that there needs to be some perspective. I still think we have enough quality to get out of this mess. It is not as though the Pozzo’s have left us with a rubbish squad, with no chance. When GT got us promoted in 99 we brought no one and had zero chance of staying up. That was his call, no one else’s. I am not saying the Pozzo’s are blameless, severe mistakes have been made with regards player recruitment. But I don’t blame the Pozzo’s for the gutless display yesterday. QSF has a big job on his hand to find the players with the testicles and quality to get us out of this. This may well be our year to take the drop, but I don’t think there are any other owners that would have given us 5 years in the Prem. I get the reaction, I am embarrassed like everyone else, but I am certainly not ready to throw the Pozzo’s under the bus

Don’t act so high and mighty, you are really not deserving of this and coming across as spoilt and entitled.

Let’s all agree with you or those approved by you as these are the only valid opinions.

Your attitude is nothing short of pathetic.

We didn't finish 7th and we lost the cup final by a record margin. We then had a summer where we solved none of the evident problems, sacked our manager and then went on to break more records yesterday. Did all this escape your attention?

    I understand.

Let’s not turn this into a “them and us” situation with both sides entrenched.

This is for the good of the club. The good of the club IMHO is the exit of Pozzo to an owner willing to build on the foundations they have put in place. Pozzo have come to the end of their useful life at the club.
Pozzo USP was the scouting network. This famed scouting network has put us in this position. It’s time to go. No one can argue against this surely.

In the absence of any statement of intent / explaination from the board, I shall reaffirm, I wish to see their speedy exit.

I don't dispute that but for the owners to sell up? How is that a rational reaction?

    Rational or irrational is subjective.

Some would argue that an irrational reaction would elicit a response and therefore change quicker than other responses.

WFC are in the brown stuff and a change in leadership or application is needed ASAP.

The sooner this happens the better IMHO.

Pozzo is, ultimately, in this for the money. I am in it for my club which will be around long after he has retired on the fortune this club has amassed him (look at the interest rates charged by him to the club).

CHANGE is needed now but I fear it will be too late. I will not relinquish in my quest to see changes made to how the club is managed.

I can’t. But there’s a ton of posts over the last 2 years bemoaning the lack of investment in quality defenders. And when the majority of those posts were made, we were met with the same kind of replies - not Gino’s fault, can’t compete etc etc. Now it’s coming home to roost. There are some one here who have seen this coming.

But my question did not deal with the two years but very specifically a period six months ago when fans expected good results. If all you are telling me is that fans views change with the weather then I know that. My point is that at the beginning of April nobody was asking for Pozzos out.

It's nowhere near as bad as the trolls on here are making out. Understandably it's the humiliation of yesterday talking.

We saw glimpses of what the team is capable of in the 2nd half last week & it can definitely be turned around.

It's a confidence & consistency problem that has always been the main issue with us. The wider issue is the PL as a whole. It's now truly turning into a two horse competition like most of the other European leagues, bar the odd freak result anyone can & will beat anyone.

  32. RookeryLad

    RookeryLad Reservist

The issue is a horrifically mismanaged transfer policy by the incumbent owners.

This defence is the root cause of a lack of confidence.

It’s painfully obvious. As you say it has “always” been an issue. This raises the question WHAT have the owners done to address it?

  33. wfcmoog

    wfcmoog Tinpot

The issues evident yesterday are long standing and go to the core of this rotten side. Sure they have had good moments but hoping that the Arsenal come back somehow overrides yesterday's total humiliation in the consciousness is beyond optimistic.

It's certainly a possibility that someone can get a tune out of these mercenary scumbags, but there will have to be blood first. Just training and tinkering around the edges is no longer gonna cut it.

We need sackings, players dropped, public apologies and recognition from the club that they have failed the fans and a clear indication that there have been measures to address this despicable lack of fortitude and heart.

I would be furious of Kiko, Foster, Doucoure, Dawson and Holebas started our next game. These players cannot continue to **** on our club and just get away with it work after week.

Answer me this. We have had largely the same defence as the last 4 years whereby we have stayed up pretty comfortably. It's seems to be a bit of a red herring you are focusing on.

The main difference is we have not been converting the chances we have been creating at the other end.
