Where was this thread before the cup final?

    I agree with your post.

I have said for a while now that, in my opinion, it isn't our technical ability that is poor, it is our attitude, and the way we react to going behind is usually woeful. It is attitude that stops us closing down, and chasing 50/50 balls, not ability.

It is the players mostly at fault for that, but it must be something in the culture inherent as a club, as it isn't just recent, but has been apparent in the past too often.

Yesterday, for example, in my opinion our line-up confirmed the attitude in the club. To the players, it was probably merely a confirmation of how the week's training had been going, but to me when I saw it on a text update at 2pm, I knew that it was an attempt at damage limitation. Putting on extra defenders just tells everyone that we are there just to try and "hang on", but it is so potentially de-motivating because as soon as we go a goal behind, it psychologically tells players that they have failed to "hang on", and then, with a defensive line-up, it is obviously harder to get back into the game.

Are you suggesting that us beating Sunderland 8-0 was the catalyst for them finding themselves in league 1!? Sunderland didn’t even go down the season that result happened

Where was this thread before a cup final humiliation, a inept transfer window, worst start to the season for a very long time and a record limp wrists defeat?

Not sure why I am even replying to this drivel.

It seems all rather reactionary rather than considered then. If you weren't happy with the transfer window, why didn't you post this thread then?

It’s a culture of indifference and cowardice. The club as a whole have little pride apart from the supporters.

The managers know they are on a conveyor belt and won’t be here long term. The players know they are trading pieces so have a mercenary attitude. The captain is unprofessional and has too much power.

It all adds up to a lack of professional pride. I’m not sure I have ever felt less connection with the team as I do now.

Yep. Some fans would prefer to dig out Nath’s negativity than admit he might have a point even after the disgraceful team were 0-5 after 25 minutes. It’s virtue signalling.

I will call out the owners when I am good an ready.

    You clap along.

People like you will be complicit in the destruction of this football club.

Close your eyes and criticise those who can see the mess for what it is rather than wish for the best for the club you claim to “support.”

Let’s see where your hindsight gets us when the current owners have trodden the club into the ground.

This thread is ludicrous . The Pozzos have been the 3rd best thing ever to happen to Watford ( after EJ and GT) . They have taken us from a struggling championship side financially on the brink to an established premier league side ,with a great stadium. whilst respecting the history and community feel of the club. They have given personally some unforgettable moments .

Are we really that entitled that at the first genuine sticky patch ( unless you include the 2013/14 season- when I’m sure if I looked back there were probably some similar over reactions ) we are forgetting all this and framing them as some kind of villains .

I am not saying they are beyond criticism . They have clearly under recruited in our defence , and have made mistakes, but they have clearly taken us forward massively . If you blame them for the 8-0 result then you are ignoring that the players they recruited took us to an fa cup final and close to Europe . So i don’t think this gutless display can be put at their door.

Even if we get relegated , I would not want the Pozzis to sell up as I believe they would be best placed to get us back up again.

It frustrates me that our support is becoming entitled And spoilt . I realise a display like yesterday stirs some very negative emotions , but please have some perspective .

By the way , I was one of the people that are being mocked on here for waving my flag at 6-0 down at Wembley. For me that was a show of how much I love my football club and that I will support is no matter what. It wasn’t a show of support for the below par performance. I don’t understand the mentality of posters on here who delight in any misfortune because it proves them right and will subsequently disappear if we turn this round ( only to appear again at the next sign of any trouble ) .

    No.

But they lost 8-0 to Southampton in 2014. So it’s a fair point I’ve raised.

We have had the Pozzo's as owners for five years and you only now want them gone. Right...

The club is in mess at the moment due to recruitment. That doesn't mean the Pozzo's have to go, far from it.

We need to take back control of our club and be allowed to make decisions for ourself. Watford was a great club before the Pozzo’s but they’ve held us back, acting like our masters, deciding who we can and can’t sign. They are building an empire for themselves. This club gets over £100m per season for being in the Premier League but it goes straight into the Pozzo pockets or is distributed to their home club Udinese. Just imagine the players we could spend that £100m+ on if we were brave enough to ditch the dictators that are strangling this club. We can be great again, just look at Granada, they’re prospering now they are free of the Pozzo shackles.

    P
Pozzo / Duxburry have openly stated that they sign off all transfers the buck stops with them.

    Imagine defending these clowns.

But but it’s ok as they put 300 seats in the corner and a grill bar in the other. But but Baz.

Some posters in here are utterly subservient.

While typing that you were probably thinking you were being so very clever. You probably read it back to yourself chuckling in a self congratulatory manner.

The irony is your post, in parts, is true. Let’s hope you get over your subservient inclinations towards Pozzo before it is too late.

This thread is just one or two people throwing **** bombs around but coming up with no answers and calling everybody else happy clappers when actually the way out of the current mess is somewhere in the middle.

You bring nothing of credibility, interest or enlightenment. You post sarcastic nonsense.

Probably not even a real fan who CARES about the mess this brilliant club has been dragged into by mismanagement of the current owners.

Personally I think getting the Pozzos out is an overreaction but fair enough for some people who feel they are not going to stop this current spell. I would just ask them to suggest who should replace the Pozzos. Do they think there are investors out there ready to spend hundreds of millions on the club? Or do they have another plan. I was taught that if you raise a criticism then you should offer a solution.

Is he paid to dismiss the owners? Surely if you want them out you must think there is a better alternative and I am keen to hear what that would be.

I have been pretty clear that, as things stand, it is time for the current owners to exit the club and pass the reigns on to someone else.

It has been widely reported that a group from the US and the Middle East have tried to enter discussions and that Pozzo was open to the idea.

There is no smoke without fire, maybe he knows he is unable to take this club further due to his financial constraints and / or ability to make sensible recruitments on both on and off field staff.

I think there is a great deal of arrogance from the recruitment team. Everyone could see that the defence needed upgrading. It was painfully obvious. The money was there as well. £40m would have sorted that defence out. We could have had Rose and at least one quality centre back. But the recruitment team knew better and spent £40m on a winger that 2 managers have concluded isn’t ready to start.

I have not said that Middle Eastern owners have ruined football. If ruining the game means better stadiums and players I am not sure what your point is.

I know that the current Italian owners are ruining this team is spectacular fashion though.

I’ve made good points. Jumbolina has made good points. Even Nath has made good points but the problem is, you’re unable to see past the (admittedly unnecessary) vitriol to see it.

Of course it’s ridiculous to say it’s time Gino goes. Beyond the pale silly. However, he has backed himself into a corner with defensive recruitment that many now feel he and the chairman have a case to answer about why. I also think they have to answer questions about the focus and mentality of the club - yesterday was yet again lambs to the slaughter against City.

5-0 down after 18 minutes demands answers and not the same old rhetoric. Foster’s actions yesterday and words at FT painted a picture that the players aren’t that bothered or upset. That’s very worrying.

Not you personally but in general fans without such owners maybe with a sense of bitterness at the power of those who do.

Quite right to point out there are advantages too !
