If you could, would you abolish Boxing Day fixtures?

    Moved forward no?
In any event it's a good question...I've only been a supporter post decimalisation thus only known 7:45pm kick offs but always was aware most teams were 7:30 and just a select group were 7:45. 3:00pm on a Saturday seems to have been predetermined by a higher power but evening KOs, just personal choice?

I think that was exactly it. All teams gradually changed over a period of a few years. I seem to remember some used to kick off at 7.15. I know we changed from 7.30 to 7.45 in about 1977 because I was at University and it made it more difficult to get back after a game on my student railcard.

Similar to Prodl although he’ll be flicking over to Grand Designs to see how the kitchen works out.

Was it to allow the Sportsnight with Coleman editing team extra time to perfect their cut?

Didn't we switch to 8.00 pm evening kick offs for at least on season a few years ago?

Also - for obvious reasons, pre-floodlights, afternoon kick offs must have been before 3.00 pm in the winter......

The first floodlights football match took place on 14th October 1878 at Bramall Lane!

The first Football League match under floodlights took place at Fratton Park in February 1956. Newcastle United were the visitors.

I think a fair number of midweek games were played on the afternoon on which shops shut early, which was locally agreed and traditional and probably for most areas Wednesday. Hence Sheffield Wednesday and, slightly less well known, Worthing Wednesday. Difficult, perhaps, for youngsters to understand that there were set times for most shops to adhere to and not a free-for-all as it is today.

So should Fessi be sending his cv to Worthing?

Around this time, the Bletchley Park mob realised that not only did they need less time to make the edit but, via algorithms, they could begin to dictate the course of the game in real time.

The Deeney goal is the most notable instance of this.

Grrr was not happy, gave me 15 mins. less in the pub after the match. Was 10.30 closing time in those days, with only 10 mins. drinking up time.
