Should be a good game. Almost good enough to be worth dragging myself out of bed before noon on a Sunday.

    Almost.

Shown nothing to suggest he would get anywhere near the first team. That little lad Soteldo looks very good though!

Thought Penaranda was rather average but no worse than most others in the Venezuelan team. His free-kick was good and his penalty was poor which is not too troublesome as Deeney is the pen taker and we do need a decent free kick taker (Holebas hasnt been too good at it).

It's important to remember that this guy is only 19 and has made it to a World Cup final. Excuses are excuses but players get knackered and by that point he looked exhausted. Either way I do think he has potential

We need to get the Venezuela u20 fitness coach. Those boys didn't stop running all game.

As for Penaranda, he tried his best but just needs to learn to pick his head up and pass rather than take on the world. However he is young and probably dreamed of scoring a worldy in a World Cup final.

Felt sorry for him for missing his pen and you could clearly see at the end he was distraught as he couldn't stop crying after the FT whistle.

He has bags of potential and has all the ability in the world to be the Pozzo's next Sanchez. If he continues to grow and develop into the player he can be, we will receive a £40mil+ fee for him one day.

If he gets his permit early under special circumstances, I would like him over here training with the first team under Silva and coming off the bench/starting Cup games for the season.

If we can't get his permit, than as others have said, send him out on loan to a club that guarantees to play him x amount of games. If that's the case then I would love the Pozzo's to send him to Anderlecht on loan who develop good young players and use it as a makeweight to sign Mbodj.

How can one of the players of the tournament and U20 World Cup Finalist not qualify as an "exceptional talent" that's ********.

Can't be said Penaranda did not put in a shift especially in the second half. Thought he looked nervous on the penalty so no surprise it was saved. His decision making needs to be improved, but one or two turns and runs left England players scratching their heads. Still think he might never play for us, being sold for a big fee in Spain/ Italy, but let's dream for now! Another pointer surely how far we have come in just 5 years. COYHs!

...and then he'd have a shot which, in turn, made him look a bit silly.

Obviously skillful, has decent pace but needs a fair bit of work on his awareness of options when in attacking positions. But hey, he's young, talented and raw so there's lots to like and be hopeful for (if he ever puts a WFC shirt on!)

I only saw the last 20 minutes, when he was promising but flawed. Interesting that the BBC2 pundits didn't mention the work permit issue when discussing whether Watford should bring him here for next season. Presumably they were unaware of it.

He looked to me like a slightly less skillful, Niang, but with a better work rate. I think the boy has big potential but he is not PL ready, if he is going to play for us, he needs to be in England and getting to know our game, with a season long loan to a decent Championship side, Maybe loan him to Derby and waive the loan fee in a makeweight for Will Hughes.

Whilst I can agree with the outline of your point, there is no way we will get a work permit for him (if indeed he still doesn't qualify for one) if our plan is to send him on loan to the Championship. The only way he will be coming to England this summer is if we outline the plan is for him to be in and around our PL squad.
