    Virtually everything over here has sugar in it. You have to read the label on whatever you put in your mouth or you'll be two stone heavier before you realise it, despite eating much the same diet as in the UK. It's a common warning in online expat communities when you first move to the US, because those who didn't pay attention gained weight at an alarming rate.

    You can order salads in some restaurants that have 1600+ calories! You think you're getting the healthy option when in fact you'd have been better off with the greasy burger.

    It's OK if you're paying attention, but it's so easy to overconsume in this country it's almost frightening.

    I’ve enjoyed many holidays - sorry, vacations - in the US but I’ve never quite been able to embrace the sweet/savoury combination on the same plate at breakfast.

    I agree, even the Subway stuff mostly uses a sweet tasting bread. It's not right.
