Other than painfully slow, what is our style of play? To me it seems based predominantly on attacking down the flanks and getting balls into the box, albeit we're not proving great at attacking them.

If we look at the goals we've scored in open play, they've almost all been scored from out wide with only Chalobah's goal being scored from good build up in the central area.

    Middlesbrough - corner
Luton - low cross from left
Derby - long shot from left side
Blackburn - low cross from right, tap in after attack down right, o.g. from low cross from left
Bournemouth - low cross from right
    Wycombe - cross from right
Stoke - low cross from right, penalty, low pull back from left
Coventry - low cross from left, corner, penalty
    QPR - corner
Preston - cross from right, penalty, one-two in the middle, corner

This really shows our reliance on crosses/pull backs from out wide and our complete ineptitude at attacking through the middle. If teams are good at defending crosses and set pieces, we're not likely to score.

Compare this to the goals we scored last time we were in the Championship a lot of which consisted of Vydra, Deeney, Ighalo bursting into the box from through balls or receiving it from good build up play through the middle of the pitch.

Unless we can find someone (Hughes?) to start attacks down the middle, we are going to be very predictable and easy to defend against.

WE need to be able to score in as many ways as possible.
Limiting our tactics makes them less likely to work and much easier to counter

    Great

    1 Get ball
2 gradually pass backwards until any advancement is negated.
3 If possession is lost make a mad dash scramble to save a goal against.
4 otherwise pass back to keeper. Who punts up field if the ball is won go to point 2 if the ball falls to the opposition go to point 3.

A corner and a cross from the left to add to the mix. Still unable to play through the centre.

They don’t seem to have worked out that if you just keep passing it back and forth between defence indefinitely, then eventually you’ll misplace a pass and lose possession in a dangerous area.

    Our style of play? #Ivicball

Get a one goal lead then sit back for x amount of time. Conceed first? Crap the bed. Playing away? Half arse if and go for a draw. Oh, and never score away.

    Ivicball for the win.

Our style of play has been largely effective. Especially at home. And we sit 4th in the table as a result. :)
