Cabaye is also a great signing for Palace.

Stoke have signed Given, Van Ginkel and Glen Johnson. United have signed a German bloke from Bayern.

absolutely crazy... i have never understood the hype surrounding Sterling, what has he actually done to warrant that kind of fee!?

  7. Hornet23

    Hornet23 First Team

He's being rewarded for acting like a childish brat by getting a £50m, 5 year contract. Makes you sick really. Plus QPR get money which is equally nauseating.

  8. Timbers

    Timbers Apeman

Southampton must be loving it thinking who they will flog to Rodgers next with 50 mill burning a hole in his pocket. Schneiderlain for 25 mill I reckon, with United going for the Mr. Ivanavic.

I give it two years until the greedy little git requests a move from City after getting splinters and his agent will need another signing on fee to top it off.

Sterling has potential to be biggest flop in history. 50 million for a quick guy who can't shoot. Could be Shaun Wright Phillips but more expensive. And also he's an arrogant child to boot.

Sterling will be quality. Inflated fee, but good signing.

Most people would say the same when SWP joined Chelsea.

Not sure what relevance the SWP comparison has. Wasn't he about 5 years older when he joined Chelsea? Is it just because they're both small and black?

Better comparison is probably Rooney's transfer to United.

What an utter waste of money from Man City. As it was clear no-one else wanted him, there was never going to be a bid from on the continent, only City, United and Chelsea could have afforded him anyway, plus I don't think he's that good. I think Man City should have stuck with their original bid knowing Sterling wanted to leave and then wait until Liverpool blinked.

  16. Jumbolina

I certainly don't compare players on race - ridiculous comment. SWP was a fast winger who also went for a crazy fee and whose career vanished. The comparison is that Sterling might go the same way.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a suspicion at the time Chelsea bought SWP not because they necessarily wanted him but to ensure a rival like Arsenal didn't get him. Also I don't remember SWP ever stating he wanted away in the manner that Sterling has done.

Never seen a player miss as many clear cut chances as 50m Sterling. Also runs like a bell end.

City have really been mugged off here.

Ask Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair and Adam Johnson* what City does to a career**.

    * being accused of being a kiddy fiddler probably does more damage admittedly.
** other than making you incredibly rich.

I notice that Norwich haven't made any significant signings, they made 2 from WBA in May but that's it.

Also I see Berbatov is linked with Muff again.

  22. Legskeattch

    Legskeattch Squad Player

I'm becoming more and more confident on staying up on the basis that Sunderland, West Brom, Norwich and Muff haven't really strengthened.

Leicester's weird managerial appointment also helps!

However as I indicated on the latest rumour thread that in our case we are in danger of too many new cooks with spoil the broth as it were, so while I'm confident we've strengthened I would be concerned if we were to sign many more before 8th August.

Yeah, very good point, but we have certainly added to a strong spine - Gomes, Prodl, Capoue, Abdi, Deeney.

With Rhodes injured (don't know how badly but he was stretchered off) I'd be surprised but it's possible.

I see Liverpool have met Villa's asking price for Benteke of £32.5m, so in the space of a week they've removed a kid who's got too big for his boots and replace him with a better play and made £16.5m profit. Good week for them if they get Benteke.
