They've just turned up I had a 10 minute txt message warning.
2 boxes of mosaic tiles each box in an their own air filled packaging. The half box looks ok so I've sent him on his way. A full inspection later I can always have a whinge to Wickes if anything is amiss but it looks good. Being mosaic and mainly metal as well I think it'll be good.

    A happy Meister.

DPD excellent, if you can't be home they'll drop at a named local shop/agent or follow your own instructions.

I agree, UPS are the pits

metallic finish tiles? ..... be very careful what you clean off excess grout with. In fact just use water and never, ever use an acid based cleaner.

    I speak from experience.

Yep just some of these for a feature wall

I have employed a professional fitter, but I will of course pass on your wise words. Cheers.

I work in this industry and anybody you use for next day delivery service will all have the same issues. DPD do seem to be the best. UPS are better for international deliveries. Wickes have just entered into an agreement with a same day courier company who will be doing their deliveries on a AM or PM service. This is not all stores, just their mega stores.
A word of warning if you expect a courier to stand around while you individually check every item you've ordered. They probably won't wait.

The floor will have vinyl tiles, no grout. No cleaner either. I couldn't find one to work for less than minimum wage so the floors stay dirty.

    Question re Yodel here..

They tried to deliver a package of mine today, and but they couldn't because there was no one at home (and they say they require a signature). It's now 10pm, yet according to the online tracker, apparenly the parcel is still on its way to me. Because it's 'in transit', I can't reschedule for another day. *******s are they still trying to deliver at this hour. Why can't I just reschedule for another day right now, and save us both the trouble?

One email to the Chief Exec and I got my £200 from Currys in less than 24 hours. Winner!

Yodel is actually a decent business model. It's basically freelancers that pick up stuff from the depot and deliver. If you get a good regular delivery driver it's a godsend. The one that regularly delivers to my road does so 7-10 pm and Saturday or Sunday as she's clever enough to realise it's all domestic stuff.
When it falls down is where you've got a bad driver who can't be bothered to travel another mile to get to yours when all their other deliveries are local.

I had an item out for delivery from Hemel Hempstead and then returned within 30 mins twice in one day once as "I wasn't at home" despite living more than 15 mins away from the warehouse. Like a mug I waited at work until 6pm for a delivery that never happened.

    Next item due Hermes (Shudder)

That feeling when you know you need the radiator tonight for the plumber tomorrow and it's now 16:30 and it looks like I'll have to stay a back at work.
Inevitably they'll try and deliver at 19:00 15 mins after I've buggered off home.

    I suspect that's what I had.

After 3 days of them messing me around and not bothering to ring the bell to leave the parcel with security, I have rung the sender to cancel the item, citing Yodel's dreadful handling of it all as the reason. I've now replaced the order, and will collect instore instead. Hopefully far more stress-free :)

Delivery turned up at 17:20 so not too bad.:party3:

Plumber now has a radiator to fit today. I'm having my downstairs facilities seen to.

Has anyone used a courier company to pick up items and then redeliver?.

    If so any recommendations?.

only fedex here but that's expensive. There's a few newsagents that offer a drop in & collection service. Might be worth seeing if your local does one.

Yodel can go f**k themselves. Got an email this morning saying my parcel would be delivered by 7pm. My wife was working from home all day so no problem with missing it. At 3pm I get a text and email saying they tried to deliver but there was no one in and they've left a card. Wife says no one has been round and no card was left.

Yep down to your individual delivery driver who's self-employed I'm afraid. IF you;re on the edge of their area and they're behind schedule, tough.
In my experience just deal with the seller of the goods and get them to refund or send out again via a different courier as Yodel support is beyond awful.

Luckily we have a new Yodel driver who's very good.

So one of my deliveries due today is Yodel. I still shudder when I see it come up on the tracking details.

What's the bets it's not here at 5pm on the Friday before a bank holiday.

    Here we go.....

Text message, we're going to deliver your parcel today before 9pm.

Great. The whole point of getting deliveries to a work address is to make sure someone will be in. The offices close at 5pm.

Sneaking pleading txt to the delivery driver and its here.

As said before she's a very good delivery driver.:mengoal:

Now I can poo in private as it was a blind for my downstairs facilities.

I buy quite a bit of tackle from an outfit called "TFG" (excellent price/quality balance) the only thing I don't like about them is their delivery providers (Yodel) so I've learnt to buy in far advance. I've just discovered that the stuff I ordered yesterday morning will be with me today delivered by these guys (https://www.dxdelivery.com/). When I've remarked to TFG about my unhappiness about the "service" (Sic.) provided by Yodel they've always pointed out how cheap they are.

I get almost everything delivered to my office now. Home deliveries are just so prone to abuse.

    Amazon Delivery is AMAZING.

For anyone based in Watford, download the Prime Now app, it is fantastic.

Ran out of groceries on a Saturday, ordered at 2pm, at my door by 6pm.

Broke a PS4 controller at 2am, ordered a new one, was at my door before 8am!! My brother didn't ever have to know ;)
