Now I've had my fair share of issues in the past with things not turning up, but my latest Amazon order has taken things to a whole new level of good service.

Got an email last night to say it would be delivered tomorrow with a link to track.
follow the link to a web page:

It shows a Google maps page with my location and the courriers current location and updates when I refresh.

He's been at delivery location 19 for a while so I think he's having a pee.

So they're expected to make 26 deliveries in 90 mins. They've given just over 3 mins to move to the next place & deliver. That's pretty harsh, no wonder vans drive around like nutters.

Update, **** has moved on to delivery no. 20 and he's moved 2 roads closer to my location.

This is better than watching WFC play.

I had one of these recently (for my new cider-making kit, Meister: will keep you posted!). There often seems to be not much distance between the addresses eg I saw the van arrive in my street (which is not long) ten minutes before my scheduled time and he apparently did two other deliveries in that time. So it may not be as bad as it seems. That said, the itinerary seems rather random: he was two streets away from me five hours earlier and then moved further away.

Nice, but Cider is made from fruit and fruit gives me the squits so for that reason (and the fact I had a bad experience with Strongbow as a kid) I'm out.

Good luck with it though. My homebrew is very drinkable especially at 50p or so a pint.

Shame. It's pretty much compulsory here in the South West!

We have dozens of apples every year from neighbour's trees. It seemed such a waste to throw them out, though we do use some of them for apple sauce, baking etc.

Yes that's great service from Amazon..
but i thought it was a bit out of order to keep referring to Enzo as ****

Sounds like he's doing a great job to me.

Bugger was trying to give him some anonymity and missed one instance to **** out.

Mind you I've just received the delivery. Enzo was very polite.

The website confirmed delivery within 20 seconds of me signing for it.

I chose to take the free digital credit and wait a day or two for delivery. I already have shoes I can wear in the meantime.

We ordered some football boots for my son, paid extra for next day delivery. Nobody was in when the driver called, so rather than try a neighbour he buggered off!

    W***ers.

    My experience with couriers:

DPD - the Gold Standard. Their app is really, really useful.
Royal Mail / ParcelForce - Ok(ish). Picking up the next day from the local postal sorting office (across the road) isn't a big deal.
Yodel - utter shyte. I can't think what is a better exemplar for this "business": picking up a parcel from their local delivery office where the bloke behind the counter (English) couldn't spell my postcode (I **** you not) or the driver (Lithuanian) I caught putting a "Sorry you weren't in..." note through my door when I was in my hallway as he couldn't be bothered searching for my package in the back of his van.
UPS - utter shyte. I think finding the "Sorry you weren't in..." note informing me that they would try to deliver once more - after which I would have 48 hours to collect from their depot in Scumtown else it would be returned to the original sender which was helpfully delivered to my next-door neighbour who happened to be away for a fortnight.

Why order for next day delivery and then bugger off out? My neighbours are the same, my house is like a fecking warehouse for them, everything is delivered to us.

Yodel really depends on your driver. I've had utter ****e service from them a parcel that they apparently tried to deliver was returned to the depot within 30 mins of leaving despite the depot being a good hour plus away from me. The happened twice in one day.

I've also had very prompt and polite service from them.

John lewis are excellent as well.

Did you leave an instruction for the delivery when you placed the order? I'm currently working for a company that sends out a lot of online orders and, unless the customer specifies an instruction such as leaving the parcel with a neighbour, the courier company we use aren't supposed to do anything other than take the parcel back to the depot.

Hermes are absolutely awful. I know of four people, plus myself, who have received a notification saying our parcels had been delivered when they'd not been. In my case, the parcel was actually delivered about 10 days afterwards, incidentally just an hour after UPS delivered the replacement parcel that the retailer had sent out when I contacted them.

I think the service you get depends on your local people. Best we have had - everywhere is DPD. Love their tracking - Mrs S accuses me of "stalking" their driver Brian as I follow his van on its way to us.
    Yodel have always been awful.
Post Office will redeliver a couple of days later if you go on line and request it - saves a trip to the sorting office.
Others mixed - local to here our Hermes lady is really good. She has got to know us so makes sensible decisions where to leave stuff.

The other side of the coin - sending stuff. We use Parcel2Go. Great service and cheaper than Post Office and you can either drop it into a local shop to go or they will collect from your home. They then track your parcel for you.

It's the waiting outside the depot at 4am which probably does it.

Well I've placed an order with Currys (Yes I know:dismay:) Which I've had a couple of issues with before so let's see what happens there.

Of note, everytime I orded on-line with Currys my credit card company declines and I have to pre-clear it with them. Right royal pain in the aris that is. Obviously Currys is a target for fraudulent scrotes.

I'm hoping they'll use DPD and I can stalk Enzo again.

It's free with Prime, just download the app on your Smartphone.

They've struck a deal with Morissons for groceries too

Turns out my order from Sports Direct NEEDS a signature. The courier lady said they're a nightmare as it's one of the few companies that won't let you leave parcels in safe places or with neighbours.

Most reputable companies with both a high street and on-line presence offer you the ability to delivery to a local branch for collection. Notice the keyword in the previous sentence.

Ah, excellent, thanks. When I first looked at it I saw the £6.99 price for delivery within the hour, without realising that two hour delivery is free. Remarkable how they can offer that. I wonder what sort of conditions the workers have in order to achieve it...

Huurah! it is going to be delivered tomorrow by DPD.:mengoal: Better clear my schedule so I can do some serious stalking.

So, I ordered all my Christmas presents on line, and the majority of couriers were top drawer, keeping me informed, and one even asking for an alternative address of I wasn't going to be there...

Yodel however, provided me with the funniest episode...

I came home to find a 12" X 12" X 12" parcel "underneath" the doormat...(imagine, if you will, a doormat draped over a package which is a one foot cube..)

Best of all, as I opened the door and came into the hall, a Sorry I Missed you card was on the doormat, saying (yes, you've guessed it) "I've left your package under the doormat"

Recently ordered a range cooker online from Currys as our old one went to heaven. Same issue with credit card declining first time and then needing authorisation. Bit odd.

In less shocking news Currys have turned out to be a bunch of absolute ******s and managed to turn a 48 hour turnaround from order to installation (including disposal of old cooker) into a 2 week saga. They managed to forget to send a fitter on the first time out, the second visit they couldn't remove our old range because the floor tiles overlapped and first muppet forgot to check that, the third visit they damaged the new cooker and on the forth visit they damaged the replacement new range cooker. Honestly never known such incompetence. They eventually fitted one at the fifth attempt. They went through three range cookers to complete the order so that's over £3000 of stock they've had to waste at cost to themselves plus all the coming and going.

Then they had the temerity to offer me £40 goodwill compo at an absolute push after half hour of haggling, which I've rejected. They should be looking at £200 at least I think for all the hassle. It would still only be 12.5% of the cost of the item which is perfectly fair I think.

I feel for you. The delivery drivers are a bit dopey. My first fridge was dented by their trolley, a call to Hotpoint (Currys forward calls to them) offered a discount without even asking for one, wan;t happy, the replacement was also slightly damaged but useable so I gave up after that.

The problem is they now compete on price with on-line retailers and have much higher operating costs so have to make shortcuts somewhere.

    OK here's the next one.

£200 worth of tiles ordered on-line for the downstairs throne. Delivery within 5 working days. "Our supplier will be in touch to arrange delivery".

Ordered on Sunday, still no contact from seller or delivery company. I'd cancel but it's taken a good 4 days of tile shopping to choose these. what's the bets I'm phoning them up on Friday to chase.

I would strongly advise you to check every single tile with the delivery driver once you get them.
