    Aidy's email

    Hi everyone,

I’m sure I don't need to tell any of you how vital this Sunday’s game is to our season.

It will be the culmination of all our hard work since July, both on and off the pitch. We know what the job at hand is and you can be sure that we will be going to Bloomfield Road looking for nothing less than a win.

Our season is still very much in our own hands and the last thing we want is to be sweating on other results come 3.45pm.

To make it into the play-offs will still be a huge achievement and I refuse to be as downcast as some may believe I should be. To bounce back following a relegation season, to mount a further promotion campaign takes courage, character and spirit.

Last weekend’s result against S****horpe was obviously disappointing, we had the chance to wrap up a top six place and we didn’t take it. That will make Sunday a cauldron of pressure cooker intensity, what with Blackpool needing the points to ensure their survival in the Championship.

We have given ourselves mainly mountains to climb over the course of the season, culminating in one last hike. The higher the peak the more I relish the challenge, after all, the view certainly looks better from up there.

So get behind us on Sunday, whether you’re one of the lucky ones who has a ticket, or someone who will be glued to the radio or all of the latest scores from my mate Jeff Stelling.

As Winston Churchill once said: “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” You could well call our form of late hellish. But we will keep going, in Blackpool and beyond.

    Come on!

'hellish form'? is he the only one that doesn't see its not form it's his hellish tactics?

    doesn't seem like it.

What are the odds of a passing game at bloomfield? 5000/1 ?

Our form HAS been hellish though, there's little in that e-mail to suggest he's on "another planet".

his emails are almost the same everyweek! just spouting b-o-ll-ox and crappy motivational rubbish, i think he should give up football and just go work with anthony robbins as one of those rip off merchants

Are you serious? What would you call it? This goes beyond spin and rose tinted specs. It's become delusional.

If we were winning games, we'd be hanging on his every word. To be fair, I doubt Cicero could come up with a decent paragraph after the recent run. I doubt very much Aidy relishes the task of thinking how to put a spin on things after yet another defeat, but if the emails just stopped, people would throw that out as a sign that communication with the fans was disintigrating.

Long story short, actions speak louder than words, get a win at blackpool and then win the play offs and Aidy can send out an email calling us all canuts. Lose, and his next email should include his farewell.

cut, paste last weeks e-mail, change names, don't remove the spin.

    Sorry for my negativity.

The climbing mountain bit does me because if things were sorted in January the mountain would of been a hill and our flag would be planted on the summit already. Only Him and the team have made the hill a mountain

It's like saying 'if I wanted to get to there, I wouldn't start from here'. This is where we are, this is the position we are in, forget all the ifs and buts and just go for it. If you want to achieve something in the future, you can't keep looking back and moaning about what has gone. Just suspend disbelief and support them all, the players, the manager, the board, for one game, then see what happens afterwards.

Quote 'to mount a further promotion campaign takes courage, character and spirit' Courage! sorry Aidy courage is when you are fighting in a war zone facing enemy fire not a game of bloody football. I along with many others do question his tactics, team selection and substitutions. If you compare football with other team sports, say cricket if you top batsmen (forwards) continue to fail to score runs then they are sent to the 2nd eleven or lower this also applies to all the other team members, but Aidy continues to stick with them despite continued poor performances, would it not be refreshing to see five or six fresh faces in the team on Saturday if there is not I fear that we will witness the same old lack lustre performance and we will be in the hands of results elsewhere, why the players who are out of form do not go and play for the reserves is beyond me, looking good on the training pitch is a million miles away from playing in a competitive match. I also wish Aidy would not hype-up the situation all the time, I had to laugh when he made the comment - that it would be a good investment if Ellington scores the winner at Wembley, now to me thats is like trying to run before you can walk and if his players hear this they could tend to ease of the pedal.

Thats all for now back soon

No it wouldn't. It would be the most ridiculous thing to do for the last game of the season with so much hanging on it.

So the 11 we've seen for the past few months are doing such a good job.
If they can't put in the effot at last game of the season to make the play-offs what's to say they'll put the effort in away?

This is the problem I have a problem with. I can't suspend my disbelief. This isn't the theatre. I'm seeing things unfold and I've lost beleif. It's not up to us to "go for it" as we've no say in things. We are obervers and can only watch.

The purpose of looking back is to point out where we've gone wrong and to hopefully learn from it. One of my biggest problems with this season is that we don't appear to learn from our mistakes. It's all very well saying "believe in the team and we will go up" but it's just not true, is it?

This is something that Aidy based our promotion campaign on. However in the last few months we seem not to be doing much of it.

Not true. The crowd can play a big part, especially when it is booing and abusing players. We've done it to opposition players and seen them get rattled.

I'm not saying 'believe in the team and we will go up'. I'm saying, 'believe in the team'.

    Here's another quote by churchill

"Battles are won by slaughter and maneuver. The greater the general, the more he contributes in maneuver, the less he demands in slaughter"

Seems like boothroyd is lesser the general with his slaughtering of tactics and "football" :]]

I don't boo and abuse players, but I do post my opinions when I feel let down by them and the management. I'm not going to Blackpool, so don't worry about my infectious negative vibes tainting the Lancashire atmosphere.

You can't change what you believe Afa. I am wholly unconvinced by what I've seen and I don't see any benefit to trying to whisk myself up into an enthusiastic frenzy by shouting positive slogans or professing my faith in the team.

We support our club in different ways. You by always being content, me by never being satisfied ;)

  21. afanof

    afanof First Team

No, no, no. I am not content. They have been utter rubbish from the first pre-season game I saw at MKDons and despite various brief interludes like Southampton on New Year's Day when I kept thinking they might have turned things around and short spells of certain games when they have looked good, they haven't quite managed to sustain that level of performance. However, when they are on the pitch and wearing the shirt, I support them.

You may not boo but practically every one of your posts is critical and disparaging in some way. I wouldn't be surprised if you have brought other posters on here around to your way of thinking, not necessarily through your words but through the sheer quantity and repetetiveness of the message over the months and they may well be booers.

    Just a thought....

What would happen if we werent critical?

Would the outcome of games be different of we didnt boo?

If we clapped and sung blindly in the face of shocking performances, would it make a difference?

    OF COURSE IT WOULDNT

In fact, my guess is certain players would have eased off even more than they have done and we'd be looking at mid table right now.

Admit it Afanof, if you really do believe that Moogs has influenced enough people to join his club.... there is actually a possibility that he is also responsible for getting us into the play offs.:eek::eek:

I haven't read all the replies so i'm probably repeating what has been said...

I've tried to keep my faith in Aidy, I’ve tried to defend him mainly because i remember being disgruntled by GT in his last season because i was young and unappreciative...when Lewington left i was longing for the days we'd be in a promotion scrap (however it occurred) rather than relegation (which i felt was a real possibility).

When my faith in Aidy has faltered in recent weeks (to be honest nearly every Saturday and Tuesday since Norwich) my dad was there to put it in some context but over the past 3 games i can tell his feelings have changed.

I read Aidy's email at work and just looked at in disbelief. There is optimism, and then there is that email - which stinks of being delusional. I think optimism is good in a manager, it is a vital quality really, but i felt like this was just treating the fans as though we are stupid. Worse if the players think like that, they wont be 'up' for the performance on Sunday and will just expect to turn up and win.

Anyway now i've written the above, i'm going to forget i read the email and i'll try my best to ignore my negativity...(until after Sunday - hopefully longer)
