I wonder how much losing the message boards will affect the site traffic over on watfordfc.co.uk? I for one use an external site to check for updates, so if they don't update it I won't go on it - yet I'd have said before with the MB I was going through the main welcome/sign-in page around 10 times a day. I wonder if their advertisers will be so keen to hang around when the December 'site traffic' figures come through? What do you guys think?
i dont think it will be as busy at all now. people will go on read the news and go off again, or as you say use a external site
Excellent point, I would have read the Home page numerous times a day previously, I haven't looked once since the boards were closed.
I posted this in the forum area today, but I think it tells it's own story. It's a graph for traffic to this site during November.
I had the MB in 'favourites' and went straight there rather than via the Home Page, and only went to the news if someone on the MB mentioned it - let's face it , it was usually the last place that news appeared. I don't think they'll miss me much. I wonder how many others by-passed the Home Page and weren't logged.???
I've just been looking at that Watford News Now website, it's very good, I've never heard of it before but I think I'll be using that now
He was banned last night Keiran, so if he's speaking his mind he's doing it to himself! Admin might have to be on his toes for the next few days as those types will not give up easily but having their threads locked and username's banned will get increasingly tedious after a little while.
I doubt we’ll be missed by the club or advertisers, I’m sure people will continue to check the official site regularly; I’ve still got to use it for Watford World. I think this board is much better anyway; all the sections are clear, absolutely brilliant!
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/newsfeed/?name=Watford It updates every 2 minutes, searching the net for sports articles containing words such as Watford, Hornets, Vicarage Road etc etc. It's not perfect, stuff about Saracens, the Carolina Hornets basketball team and the odd swimming gala at Watford Leisure Centre sneak through, but on the whole it's excellent.
same here, i went straight through to the boards, but did read some of the news stories. it depends on how many people view the website but not the boards. stating the obvious i know but if the boards are only used by around 100 - 200 people, there are 16000 sths, and other fans from around the world the loss of the boards may not affect hits significantly. how many board users will still go to the official site sometimes? i guess quite a few will. so sadly ptv won't be suffering too much
was it you put newsnow on the old boards a few weeks ago? i've been using it ever since, so if it was ta ever so, it gets stories before anyone else (apart from the authors of course)
Thanks Reindeer. If they support RSS feeds I might even be able to get the stuff uploaded directly into the news forum here. I'll try tonight.
I'll still check the official site every now and then but i always used to enter 'w' into the address bar and the first site would be the login page for the boards so i'd click on that.
Probably not Telly No match until Tuesday, I would imagine a few of the new people like myself are getting used to the different set up and learning all the extra functions available. I had a very enjoyable day yesterday browsing this site and will be here as a regular. That should scare the majority away though;D
Probably has peaked. Still quite a few old fiscal site members haven't appeared you would have to speculate that by now they either A haven't found this site or b gone somewhere like Glory Yawns.
I think they haven't heard of this site. I wouldn't have found it if I didn't see UEA's post on glory horns
It would suprise me, this site was being mentioined often and was in the sigs of the originaal members who used to go to the official boards to post, including my own.
Last time I'll post this in general football, any other traffic stats will be in forum news from now on...
