not 100% on this but if u've just got a modem/usb modem on your connection then it is unlikely your ip addy will change. But...If u use a router on your connection then your ip addy should and will change everytime you reboot your machine as the router (which is logged into your isp on one ip addy) will assign any machines on its network new addys.

I've found my way in here as well.

Hopefully many of the regular poisters on the official message board will come on here.

If this message looks silly when posted it's because I'm not very good with computers and may take a while to work out how this all works.

    Hello Jobr, and Hello Admin,

Jon, I've followed you across, but unlike Berkshire I'm not going to hassle you about the prediction league (but Berkshire has good reason, as I'm about 20th and he's top!).

Good to see a lot of the other regulars here, and good to see what appears, in the short time I've been here, to be a well run board.

Maybe I'll even come out of lurking mode - Birdy, does it hurt?

Hello Brian and apologies to jon if it seems like i'm hassling. But did go all faint when i logged in to look at this weeks entries and it had been taken away from us.

Did you get all this weeks predictions down before the apocalypse jon?

Hello Berkshire, I only meant tongue in cheek that you were hassling Jobr - besides, he enjoys a good hassling from time to time!

The problem with a disclaimer is it doesnt stop the players from seeing things , they I am sure, looked at the board and would read waht was being said about them and that would have affected morale if something hadnt been done to stop it, (saying the club doesnt agree with what was said only puts the onus on the so-called supporters) i think that what GS did was wrong however i can understand to a small degree why he has done it.

I think he club board was closed down because the club could not run it

I will say this once so that everyone including DJ is clear.

I had nothing to do with the fiscal boards closing, in fact quite the opposite. Since the forum I have been talking to the club about trying to save them and how to move the thing forward. Unfortunately Graham felt the best option was closure.

Hello Jon. Sorry I didn't see this earlier but, like many, I'm still finding my way around - good board though.

I'm fine but I've not been under the knife - how about you?

GS talked about being sued but what i'd like to know is who the hell is actually going to sue ?

    Marlon ? Boothroyd ? I think not.

Simpson took the cheapest and easiest option out rather than trying what was being suggested by a group of fans.

  18. jobr

The explanation give to me in relation to this matter was that Both Marlon and Clarke could have potentially sued the club FOR some of the comments made.

I suppose if they did that it would be in order to make themselves a fans favourite.
GS (edited out), fact is they are professional footballers who might (edited in) have both made big mistakes off the field and thus as a consequence there will always be specualtion and you would have thought they could handle it like big boys.

They wouldn't sue the club, it's such a bizzare thought it's silly. Simpson knew they wouldn't sue but found it perfect to use as an excuse not to ANYTHING.

EDIT: Chewitt, please don't get me sued. Admin

The problem would arise if they left the club, and the postings still remaining online, they would still be libellous. Alternatively, if they got into problems again and the club wanted to kick them out and cancel their contracts, they could claim that the comments on the internet undermined their performances and the club were negligent in allowing such comments to stand. All a bit tenuous I know but hey.

This does go a bit wider though. It wasn't just MK and CC being criticised. Names to have been mentioned in negatively recent weeks include Mike Newell, loan.co.uk, several Premiership referees and Steve Maclaren, to name but a few. None of those guys would have any problems with sueing the club, save the sponsor (maybe). The club couldn't be seen to be hosting any such material, so it came down to a battle between spending money to moderate the boards better or closing them down to save the trouble.

Theres a very fine line between freedom of speech and libellous these days and it is very difficult to know where the line is, the only way to really cover yourself and the boards you are posting on is to say that someone has stated but making sure that you dont know if it is true but you dont think it is.. problem then lies in why did you bother to post it at all? the internet is a wonderful tool but it can so easily bite you in the a$$

Oh well were here now and I dare say the fishal boards will never return .

The one thing that you can be sure of is GS will still be looking at all of the unfishal boards trying to find out the fans opinions.

I'd call it cutting your nose off despite your face. What will his next move be , banning all supporters for life who dare to voice their opininons on here !!

In my opinion GS has caused himself a bigger problem.
The official board could be monitored and posts deleted if they felt they were not in the best interests of the club.
He now has the same supporters posting on various sites but with no control over the content displayed.
Whats he going to do when a rumour about a certain player starts up on an unofficial site, gets discussed in the pubs prior to a match and then whispered around the ground?

Libel is libel whether on an official or unofficial board, so just be careful what you say. 'admin' has got enough work as it is without fretting about the crown court heavies.

No, you're right. we've covered this too many times now. GS used the situation to get a particularly irritating stone out of his shoe.

the clubs loss imo, our gain now we've congregated here.
